Excellent video. I love how you show people who may not be familiar how to install the trans line clips and let them know the plastic clip on the connector may break so don't let it fall in the transmission. Well done. I watched another vid where the guy put the sealant on the cover as the manual probably calls for, but I was like no way I'd do that and neither did you.
Thank you very much, I try to be as detailed as I can without dragging the video on forever. I figured putting sealant on the cover would just make a mess. Thankyou again for watching how your repairs go well!
Very handy video. Good method for sure. I used to work at Daimler Chrysler ITP 4 plant in Kokomo Indiana where we built this transmission by the thousands. It's an okay transmission as long as you take good care of it and change the fluid and keep it cool. A humble suggestion: consider using acetone instead of alcohol. It dries clean and it is more effective at dissolving gaskets. You can also mix up 50% ATF and 50% acetone and that is a great corrosion remover as a side product.

@nsigarage5212. So would changing tcc work to correct it. My van wants to stall out when coming to a stop , it like wants to surge forward when coming to stop sign .
If the torque converter is stuck locked from a failed solenoid then yes it can stall when coming to a stop. If it doesn't fix it then it might need a torque converter. These aren't the greatest transmissions but this is a cheap, fairly inexpensive way to determine if you will need to speed big money on a trans
I agree with the recommendation here. I just overhauled my family van transmission in my garage. The torque converter and input clutch set are the only parts you need to replace for that P0740. Should you replace the solenoid? That’s up to you. It’s easy enough to check the pin connectors to see if you have a solenoid out of spec. But from personal experience from completing an overhaul on my 62TE at 164k miles the only parts needing replaced were the torque converter and input clutches. Save your money folks.
I completely agree with you, these aren't the best transmissions, coupled with their difficulty to be easily service or even fluid level to be checked, they are doomed. I should have showed the pinout test which is what lead me to this video. In this case it did resolve the issue. 70% of the time it needs a converter or a rebuild. But for $125ish in parts and fluid it could save someone alot of money. If it doesn't work then at least that part is fresh for the new converter

Thanks for the videos. Question for you. I had a P0765 code on a caravan. Went into limp mode a couple times. Bought a new solenoid pack and replaced it without any issues. Old pack was definitely faulty. Did tranmission filter and fluid change and now the vehicle won't stay in 3rd gear. 1st to 2nd shifts fine and once it reaches 3rd gear the vehicle violently stops and its in 1st gear. No codes are being thrown. Fluid levels are good. Not sure what is going on.

Great video, I have dodge Caravan 2015 with code P1745 engine size 3.6. If I do same in your video what you did. Do you think will solve the problem? Thanks in advance!!
No, this will not fix that code. Your code is for the line pressure being to high for to long. This repair is for the tourqe converter not engaging. You could have an issue with the valve body assembly and is sold as a complete unit. A bad for kinked line, or other issues. Unfortunately I cannot diagnose your car without looking at it in person.
I'm having the same problem on my 2013. P1745 code. Did you get yours fixed? Thank you for your help. I had no hard shifting or weird behavior, just gave a code pulling into the driveway last Friday, now stuck in limp mode.

I would make sure the pedal is coming all the way back up, I don't believe the push rod is adjustable on those, if it is check that. After that u would think you have an issue with the brake booster return spring
No need to remove the trans to change the solenoid! I'm getting the Po740/p0740 code. With the solenoid out, could I use a multimeter to verify whether or not the solenoid needs replaced?
2017 Grand Caravan here, my flex plate is cracked at 149,500. Having that replaced, figued while in there I'd have the TSP replaced as well, however i recently was made aware of the TCC, this too should be replaced due to mileage. If there any of solenoids you'd recommend having switched out while the Solenoid Pack and Flex Plates being done?? 🙏 I'm a state certified foster parent, i need this minivan in top notch condition, i should note that tge transmission fluid and filter was replaced 3 months and 10 thousand miles ago. Thank you kindly!
The solenoid pack, and Torque converter itself, and TCC Solenoid is everything that I am aware of that car bechanged, short of rebuilding the entire transmission.
It did on this vehicle. These transmissions are not the greatest, and the torque coverters are know to be an issue. But it is definitely worth trying before a much more costly relpair
Hello sir great video! I have a 04 Jeep Liberty 3.7 L four-by-four automatic, started shifting real hard ,no check engine, I decided to get it scanned and it said most likely solution,Replace torque converter. But at the bottom of the fact-finding page it said , Diagnostic trouble codes po740 TCC OUT OF RANGE, TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID CIRCUIT, NOW MIND YOU IT'S STILL CHANGING GEARS BUT VERY VERY ROUGH ! What the car use at 80,000 MI now it has 110,000 and the transmission fluid since I've had it never been changed my question QUESTION WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST TACKLING, CHANGING THE TORQUE CONVERTER OR THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID CIRCUIT and the transmission fluid at the same time or just giving up? Please reply
To start that it is adifferent transmission in your car then in this video and I am not super familiar with them. but the concepts are all the same. If the fluid hasn't been changed in 110k I would say it's time for it to be rebuilt. Both these transmissions aren't the most robust. My professional opinion would be a rebuild with a new converter, valve body solenoid pack, and sensors. If the guts of the trans is bad and you choose to just change the solenoidpack, sensors and even the valve body to see if will fix kt, those new parts can be quickly be damaged buy a bad converter hammering them with pressure.
How many hours in labor do you think this is. I want to replace the whole solenoid pack assembly. Not just the tcc solenoid. I need to do same on my vehicle and am very mechanically inclined with all the possible tools id need
Hello. I have '08 Jeep Commander. Occasionaly, driving uphill, 40-50 MPH, the transmission will jump back and fourth from 3rd gear to 4th gear, like it cant make up it's which gear it wants. I can give it gas and make it shift down. Thoughts? I've already replaced the trans solenoid. Maybe a linkage adjustment? help.
I have a 2011 dodge avenger 3.6 and it goes in drive fine and works but won’t move in reverse it feels like it wants but nothing can the be the issue with mine ?? Thanks in advance
Wish this had fixed mine but it did not. Have been driving with this code for 5 months. Once in awhile a little clunkiness sound but always works perfectly. Not spending between 2000 + $5,000 to address light. Gas mileage has not dropped at all and I'm just continuing to drive it. I put at least six thousand miles on it with the light on. Wish there were more codes they can tell us what specifically is going on
I was wondering if you can have TCC solenoid problems without throwing a code? I have no codes but my 2014 Journey 3.6L /62TE 86,000 km. is having "confused shifting" and it's hard to tell if it's the convertor or not. I realize the convertor only locks under cruising conditions, but if the TCC solenoid is acting up...could this cause weird shifting. Good informative video by the way.
Good video, friend, a question...My Dodge Journey does not have codes, I put it in gear and it does not move forward or backward if I mark the changes on the dashboard, what could it be?

Alot of these codes are for turbine speed sensor, it should be on the outside of the trans and visible above the Axle shaft. Either the sensor has failed, or the wires are bad. It will not shift if this sensor does not read
@@nsigarage5212 Dave here, I have a code P0869. I was thing it will need the solenoid body assembly and the secondary solenoid while I am doing this. What do you think?
This did fix the vehicle for me Without seeing your trans or knowing your car I can't tell you if the converter is bad, but the chances of it being damaged is fairly slim unless you have been driving for a long time like this. I want to say all parts was around $150 with the sealant, dipstick, fluid and solenoid. So definitely worth a try for 90 min of worj
This was a 2014 dodge journey. Same drivetrain as the Chrysler town and country. With the 62TE transmission which is front wheel drive. Your commander has a different engine and transmission.
you said in an earlier comment reply that chances are slim TC is damaged unless driven a long time like that. What would you consider a long time? My CEL came on a couple days ago right before a long trip and at the time i didnt get a chance to scan it until we were back home (didnt notice any severe symtoms except the TC wouldnt lock on hwy). We ended up driving about 2 hours to our destination and 2 hours back a day later. Its been parked since then. Would you consider this a long time? 2012 Grand Caravan

So in this video the TCC is bolted on to the valve body. Your solenoid is on that valve body. You can purchase the whole body with solenoids for pretty cheap
Hi guys. I have a 2012 T&C Touring L. P0765. Revs High, can't pass 40mph, this happens occasionally. Does this require a TCC Soleniod replacement only or/and Soleniod Pack Replacement? Also did you drain all the oil before removal of covers? could not tell what you did with the suction pump. Video say 2 Gallons of ATF+4. Thanks.
P0765 would NOT be the TCC, and would be a solenoid pack. But if you are in there change it too. There is no drain on these transmissions. I didn't not drain any when I took cover off, so I used the suction to just get the old fluid out.
Will a lot of fluid leak out from the top portion when swapping out the solenoid? I've already done the fluid change under and it came 740 code came back on my journey? Curious if a bunch of fluid will dump out when I remove the top pan
@@nsigarage5212 😂 looking back at my comment...did you end up also replacing the torque converter later? So far, looks to be the solenoid doesn't seem to fix the 740 code. Just trying to get a definitive answer.
I did not end up replacing the converter. This vehicle repmained fixed. Changing this solenoid or entire pack has fixed alot that "needed a trans" Though others have had to in the end. These transmissions aren't the best, but I'd rather take a few hours and give it a try for pennies compared to having to pull the transmission.

hello prodrian help me my town and country 2009 motror 4.0 transmission 62 you failed to reach a total stop no longer making the changes only remains in one the fault code that appears is the P2764 the oil is recent next to the sieve
I have a diagnostic trouble code P0765 - which says to replace the transmission shift solenoid “D”. Are there more than one solenoid. If so are they all located in the same location as the one you replace in the video?
So underneath the TCC in the video there were the main harness connects, there are 6 torx bits that pop a cover off that allows access to the other solenoids for testing www.transmissiondigest.com/solenoid-pack-information-for-the-chrysler-62te/ I can't find anything about replacing them individually. It appears you have to buy them as a whole solenoid pack. If you can test them and see which one is bad, you might be able to pull a part number. But doing the whole pack isn't very expensive or hard. And there are plenty of detailed videos on it. I have not don't that job myself yet. Any other questions feel free to email me at nosleepinc2020@gmail.com
Bu değişen parcanın adı nedir acaba benim arabamda 2.8 voyager p0740 arıza kodu veriyor ama vites geçmesinde sıkıntı yok sorun ne olabilir bu parcanın değişmesimi lazım
It's a completely different transmission from what is shown. It could need the same solenoid. But I wouldn't know if it's a separate item or part of of the whole valve block
My transmission professor taught us that if a transmission is working correctly, you should not fear changing the fluid. Alot of people have issues with transmissions over 100k because they never serviced them and rub into issues when they "flush" them in an attempt to correct the problem. If you are weary, you can replace half the fluid by sucking it out, putting In fresh and and repeating about every oil change to slowly freshen the fluid up
Hey I usually dont comment and ask questions but I am STUMPED!! So I got, Codes: P0700 & P0740, and I dont have symptoms that normally come with error code P0740, no overheating and stuttering or any problems shifting whatsoever, in fact the only evidence of this code P0740 is the code itself.. will this fix my issue ? Cuz you'd never know there was a problem if it wasn't for the check engine light coming on, or is my issue just now starting
I also would like to add that this diy video was well constructed and presented with experience and thanks for sharing your knowledge with those who've fallen victim to the notorious P0740 lol
Without looking at the car I can never tell you if it will for sure fix the issue. What I can tell you, is it is a very very common problem so it would be worth a try.
I spend away more time messing with the camera and editing then most of the jobs take, I really really appreciate that. If you need any more help or questions it's easiest to reach me at nosleepinc2020@gmail.com
If it does it in gear, the convertor may be locked. This may fix it if it's stuck. It's a cheap enough fix where it's worth a try. I can't tell for sure without looking at it.
I have a 2013 dodge caravan and whenever I put it in reverse the stick seems to go hard and it gives a very bad click. I got code fluid pressure low code P0868. I checked the trans fuel it was way more than the required level so I took some oil out. I don't have any leakage. Can anyone suggest to me what to do? thanks.
I'm sorry I don't have that info. Has the trans ever been serviced? If it hasn't these transmissions aren't the greatest. Nor are the torque converters themselves. I would start with checking fluid level, color and smell
@@nsigarage5212 it was flushed at 60k, only started slipping at 100k, I put a pan with a drain plug and I empty it every 5k refill and repeat after 4 dumps (recommended by Scotty Kilmer) I drop the pan and change the filter, I am babying it along, just wondering if it's worth changing the solenoid pack and the tcc, or just bite the bullet and put in a rebuilt with a new torque converter, the van is in mint condition. Yes P0743 is the code for an issue with the TC solenoid. Could the the solenoid or wiring Also if you have a 5.2 you would have a 98 GC or older 99 was the first year of the WJ and had the 4.7
@@nsigarage5212 I’ve been clearing the code and it comes back on the next driving cycle. When I’m driving anything past 60mph and let off, I see the tach needle drop to about 1k rpm and then jump back up and then drop back down to 1k again over and over until I step back on the gas again. This was already happening before I switched the solenoid and it’s still doing the rpm fluctuations after I replaced the solenoid. Maybe it’s the torque converter at this point? Or the solenoid pack?
If you look up p0740 causes it will give you a list of possible causes. Did you use a Mopar solenoid or aftermarket? Depending on mileage I can be risky to flush it. But a fresh filter and fluid might clean anything out. I can't tell you 100% what will fix it without seeing the vehicle obviously. The solenoid packs aren't very expensive or to hard to change. Hello good day. My Dodge Journey 2014 it appeared with a cavitation noise, replace the filter and ATF+4 Mopar oil that was dirty. Now it's in Emergency mode and with code P083B what could it be? Can someone tell me what it could be?
The code is for the transmission pressure switch. It is located under the front facing cover beneath the solenoid pack. Obviously I can't diagnose the car without seeing it. It could be the switch, it could be wiring, the seniod pack, the pump or bad internal seals. These transmissions aren't the best. Depending on the milage it could very well be time for a new transmission. Personally if it was my car I would pop the front cover and replace all the sensors and solenoid pack before I shipped it out for a rebuild. Because you would have to change all those parts during a rebuild anyway
I personally would. Worst that happens is the transmission would still be a rebuild, minus those parts. But the transmission pumps and converters are known to fail parts on these.
No you have a 40TE or 41TE. Your solenoid pack is external of the transmission. All solenoids are located in this. ua-cam.com/video/fVSN5Qvuprc/v-deo.html

No need to remove the trans to change the solenoid! I'm getting the Po740/p0740 code. With the solenoid out, could I use a multimeter to verify whether or not the solenoid needs replaced?

You could, if its internally broken or clogged. It would ohm out good
2017 Grand Caravan here, my flex plate is cracked at 149,500.
Having that replaced, figued while in there I'd have the TSP replaced as well, however i recently was made aware of the TCC, this too should be replaced due to mileage.
If there any of solenoids you'd recommend having switched out while the Solenoid Pack and Flex Plates being done?? 🙏
I'm a state certified foster parent, i need this minivan in top notch condition, i should note that tge transmission fluid and filter was replaced 3 months and 10 thousand miles ago.
Thank you kindly!
The solenoid pack, and Torque converter itself, and TCC Solenoid is everything that I am aware of that car bechanged, short of rebuilding the entire transmission.
Did it correct the issue? I am having the same thing. I hope to do this to fix it and trade it in.
I want to say this took me about 2 hrs.
@@nsigarage5212 I figure 4-6 hours if you have never done this before. Watch other videos before you do a solenoid body replacement.

Wish there were more codes they can tell us what specifically is going on
Your torque convertor clutches no longer lock up. Convertor needs replacing.
I have P0743 TCC Solenoid Circuit. What should I be looking at?
I was wondering if you can have TCC solenoid problems without throwing a code? I have no codes but my 2014 Journey 3.6L /62TE 86,000 km. is having "confused shifting" and it's hard to tell if it's the convertor or not. I realize the convertor only locks under cruising conditions, but if the TCC solenoid is acting up...could this cause weird shifting. Good informative video by the way.
It's hard to say without looking at it. Is the fluid level correct? You may need to have it scanned with a shop scanner for history codes
Good video, friend, a question...My Dodge Journey does not have codes, I put it in gear and it does not move forward or backward if I mark the changes on the dashboard, what could it be?
Start with fluid level

Alot of these codes are for turbine speed sensor, it should be on the outside of the trans and visible above the Axle shaft. Either the sensor has failed, or the wires are bad. It will not shift if this sensor does not read
@@nsigarage5212 Dave here, I have a code P0869. I was thing it will need the solenoid body assembly and the secondary solenoid while I am doing this. What do you think?
You forgot to mention to reinstall the cooler line clips in a position so the next guy finds them nearly impossible to remove.
I also have a 2011 grand caravan with a p0740 , did this fix your problem? Any chance the torque converter is damaged ?
This did fix the vehicle for me
Without seeing your trans or knowing your car I can't tell you if the converter is bad, but the chances of it being damaged is fairly slim unless you have been driving for a long time like this. I want to say all parts was around $150 with the sealant, dipstick, fluid and solenoid. So definitely worth a try for 90 min of worj
What is the make and modle on the vehicle being worked on? My 06 jeep comander looks nothing like this one I can't find the Tcc solenoid

So not only replace the Solenoid Pack, but also the TCC Soleniod, got it! Thank you. Great Video.
That's my shoot from the hip diagnosis. Obviously I can't give you any 100% answers without looking at it. But that's what I would do.
Will a lot of fluid leak out from the top portion when swapping out the solenoid? I've already done the fluid change under and it came 740 code came back on my journey? Curious if a bunch of fluid will dump out when I remove the top pan
No? You will still want to put a pan under there, but fluid loss is pretty minimal

I have a diagnostic trouble code P0765 - which says to replace the transmission shift solenoid “D”. Are there more than one solenoid. If so are they all located in the same location as the one you replace in the video?
So underneath the TCC in the video there were the main harness connects, there are 6 torx bits that pop a cover off that allows access to the other solenoids for testing
www.transmissiondigest.com/solenoid-pack-information-for-the-chrysler-62te/
I can't find anything about replacing them individually. It appears you have to buy them as a whole solenoid pack. If you can test them and see which one is bad, you might be able to pull a part number. But doing the whole pack isn't very expensive or hard. And there are plenty of detailed videos on it. Is it a myth that Transmission oil replacement and filter should not be done if over 100k miles. Mine has 145k miles?
My transmission professor taught us that if a transmission is working correctly, you should not fear changing the fluid. Alot of people have issues with transmissions over 100k because they never serviced them and rub into issues when they "flush" them in an attempt to correct the problem.
If you are weary, you can replace half the fluid by sucking it out, putting In fresh and and repeating about every oil change to slowly freshen the fluid up

Is it the same code p0743 on jeep grand 1999 5.2 ?
Yes P0743 is the code for an issue with the TC solenoid. Could the the solenoid or wiring

99 was the first year of the WJ and had the 4.7

It's funny you say that. This car that I did, about a week later the same thing happened. We cleared it and it's been gone for month now
@@nsigarage5212 I’ve been clearing the code and it comes back on the next driving cycle.
So there are things you can try before having to take it to a Trans shop
