enjoy the videos sir! I noticed HF quit selling these cameras now. Mine is about a year old and I'm wanting to add 2 more cameras. (currently running 5 cobra brand) Do you have any recommendations on other brand/model cameras that work for this system? Im not too too familiar with setting up new ones but can probably figure it out after I buy them. Thank you!
I don't think they quit selling them, I think they are just out of them, if HF has an item out of stock and no more coming in the near future, they drop it from their website, and it will re-appear in the future, so don't give up hope - but these are designed to the ONVIF standard, which is a new industry standard for home video surveillance systems, so theoretically if cameras conform to that standard they will work with this system - I searched amazon for ONVIF cameras and several were listed, verify in the details they are ONVIF compliant, POE does not mean ONVIF, POE is a power/wiring standard, ONVIF is a data/signalling protocol standard - I have not tried any non-HF camera, so no recommendations, but if you have prime, you are protected if what you buy says ONVIF but does not work, you can return it within 30 days, I'm interested in any adventures you have with other cameras, I'm sure a lot of viewers will be interested in your results - thanks for subscribing!
Hi, thanks for the video. I have the 8 channel wired system. I noticed a box you can check labeled “covert”. Have any idea what that does if you select that? Thanks
I just purchased this unit for my 18 wheeler. I'm going to use it as a 3 or 4 camera "dashcam" type setup. I want to swap out the HDD for a SSD since I'm certain that the HDD won't last long on these horrible roads. You mentioned that you put a larger hard drive in your system. Is the operating system, as it were, stored on the hard drive, or somewhere else. I'm trying to see if I'll need to have the HDD mirrored onto the SSD or will i simply be able to swap it out. Thanks.
the OS is firmware and not on the harddrive, you will need to swap out the hardrive, the system only supports one internal sata drive, a regular harddrive might survive the road, but not worth taking the chance, so I agree with your SSD decision, a unique application, and I'm interested in how it works out for you, sounds like an interesting project to install and use the system - thanks for subscribing!
I can confirm that SSD drives will work in this system. I found a PNY 1tb SSD drive on sale for $35 in wally-world. I bought a neat 2.5 to 3.5 adapter tray on Amazon and popped it in. So far, so good. I hooked everything up to make sure everything worked in my 18-wheeler. Two gripes already. The video from each camera on my 1080p tv was doing that wobble pulsing thing. Also, I the spot light kept coming on. Although I turned it off in the settings, I kept coming on.
Thank you so much ive set everything's up but when i reset the system the cameras didnt turn automatic back on, theyre plugged and were perviously connected.
Somehow I got it to automatically switch between cameras. It seems like the cameras aren't assigned a square so it just doesn't put it on screen. Please let me know if you have any luck.
@chrisgarrard2081 click on the camera top of the square, and it'll say pair !! You'll have to click that and press the button on the cameras same time for 3 seconds so if they're already installed you'll need two people.
Thanks for this informative video. Do you have any information on why a camera would display the message CNT 1024 on the monitor. While the system overall is still operating well. Thanks !!! .
I'm doing some research, I think that is giving a bandwidth settings for the communications from the camera to the NVR, but I've never seen it on my system, I'll reply if/when I find more information
You started to define sensitivity but never said which setting is most sensitive is it 1 or 8? Also where can I guy with a flip-phone get a copy of the manual.
Im having issues finding extra cameras for this system without buying a whole nother system. could you tell me where you are getting extra cameras or if its possible to connect a different brand of camera?
Hey how do I setup up my face recognition and I also had it setup to pick up my dogs and humans and vehicles it still does the humans but not my animals
How do you link 2 systems? I bought a whole new system just because I couldn’t get cameras… I’d like to have both systems, and 4 cameras up on the screen…
Just got two of these systems. One I can't get the facial recognition to work. I'm trying to figure out what PTZ camera that will work with this system and gonna swap out the hard drives for some 4TB SSD.
just about an SATA 4TB should work, on the PTZ camera, this system is designed to match a new standard ONVIF, cameras that are onvif compatible are more likely to work across different manufactures, this is a new stardard, so I'm not sure which cameras will be compatible with the HF Cobra System, but it might be something to look at - Thanks for subscribing!
I just set this system up based on your recomendation. It really is a great system for the price so thank you. But my Channel 1 camera keeps kicking on and off saying, "Failed to connect to camera, please check network connection" ive did a hard reset on the box and still doing it after install. But my other 2 connected cameras work great and stay on. Please help?
this sounds like a cable problem, but testing is required, I think they use cheap cables, they should provide CAT6 Network cables, what they provide is at best CAT5 and a little fragile, if you can find a way to swap cameras, but not cables, and cables but not cameras, you can prove the problem, but on an installed system, that is sometime difficult - start by moving the bad camera's cable to a different port on the NVR switch, channel 1 is specific to a certain port in the switch(# is right to left, odd number on top, even number on bottom - looking at the back of the NVR), move it to channel 4 and reboot the NVR (you don't have to reboot when plugging in a cable, but better to reboot so when the other cameras come one and # 4 does not come up, you know know there is a problem) so that leaves the cable or the camera, easiest next step is to move physical camera #2 to physical camera #1's location and connect it, move physical camera #1 to physical camera #2's location and connect it, reboot system, if camera #1's location does not work, and camera #2's location does work, the logical conclusion is: there is a problem with location #1's cable, and all camera's work, you can replace the cable (100 ft cat 6 on amazon is ~ $15) - there is also a possibility the route from the NVR to the camera runs near an interference - a fluorescent light, an air conditioner, a welder or an electric motor, all can cause enough interference to drop the connection, and that NVR takes a while to bring a camera - the key is to change one thing at a time, switch port, cable, or camera - once you know the cable is bad, pull it back and keep it local to the NVR and see if it works, if the camera is bad, only HF can fix that, you can get a new cable from them, but they might want the entire system back and so they can give you a new one, don't know their policy on that, if the cable is bad, tie a knot in both ends and cut it in two so noone else will go thru what you went thru with it, if you take it back, they will give you a new one within 90 days of purchase, usually with no questions, so tell them it is a BAD system so they will not put it back on the shelve - let me know how it goes - thanks for subscribing!
Hello quick question do you know how I can delete some of the videos I don’t need, we recently bought this and we were playing around to try to understand the system and we end up with some videos that literary just recorded the wall, thanks I’m advance!
no need to delete them, the system records on a loop, so first in first deleted, the systems does that automatically, no need to worry, the only way to delete video is to format the harddrive - your harddrive will show full all the time due to this process, if you set it to motion only, it will store a longer time frame, if you turn it on all the time, it will record a shorter time frame, I leave mine on full record all the time and I get over a week of video stored, I have a lot of trees and bushes, so motion only is almost full record anyway, and at night there is a little lag when it detects motion and starts recording, maybe 1-2 seconds, might not sound like much, but you can miss a car driving by in 1-2 seconds - thanks for subscribing!
what setting are you wanting to change? there is a setting to turn off the lights and not have night vision, my default anytime it is dark, the lights will be on, but mine turn off during the day, there are three resolutions by default, remote, HD and 4K, but you can set any resolution for any function - functions being HDMI display, browser display, recording and remote viewing - thanks for subscribing !
The problem is there are no instructions at all. I have it set up in a bedroom to test before mounting everything. Finally got all the setting figured out. Now a week later out of nowhere the motion lights are coming on. No I get to try and figure it out all over and wait another week to make sure it stays the way I set it. They should work right out of the box.
internet is only required if you want access external to your house, a local network with wifi in your house is required if you want to access it from a PC or your phone while in your house - the system can be a stand alone system, and you can view and make changes to the config on the system console just like I am in the video - thanks for subscribing!
I have an older recording security system with 4 cameras wired via ethernet. I want to upgrade to a recorder that has wifi capability to the router located somewhere else in the home and not accessible, so I can utilize a remote app with alerts while away (like the RXCamView you demo'd). I can't find a recorder that can connect to router via wifi, only hardwired? Any suggestions?
you must connect to a network with a wired connection, you can try buying a cheap temda access point and connect to it with a cable, then setup the tenda to connect wifi to another access point - some access-points call this infrastructure mode, or teather(sp?) mode - it is an options - thanks for subscribing!
best way to extend is to buy a longer cable, or buy a cat 5 'barrel' connector, you plug a cat 6 cable in each end and it connects the two, not sure what you mean by module - there are two types of barrell connections - some do cross over, some take all wires straight thru, and you want to straight thru - something like this - www.amazon.com/Rapink-Keystone-Connector-Ethernet-Extender/dp/B0916W7LYN/ref=sr_1_1_sspa - thanks for subscribing!
I mentioned the sound in the camera install, and the unboxing episodes, the sound options are basically on or off and volume, but the sound is great, I can hear people talk 30 ft from the camera, playlist for 4K system - ua-cam.com/video/dPmsgb0hsK8/v-deo.html thanks for subscribing!
I had the video working when I first tested it, but I broke one Ethernet connector, and still waiting for a replacement (on back order) After waiting a month I decided to install the other camera but now I can't get the video to on my monitor like had before. How do I force my PC monitor to the Cobra system. First time I tried it the monitor changed after a few minutes, but not now???😔
when the NVR boots the first time, it auto sets the output, usually to 1080p (or less) unless your monitor supports 4K, did you try to connect via a web browser? you will need the IP, which you need a display on the NVR to find (kind of a chicken and egg paradox), so hope you get the IP when you do get back into the system) - you can reset the NVR to factory default by holding in the semi-hidden button on the back (use a needle to access the button) until the screen changes to resetting the video output, or you can redo what you did the first time to get it working - ethernet cables are relatively inexpensive on amazon - thanks for subscribing!
you can try reseating the harddrive cables, but that is about the only thing to try, after that you will need to get a replacement harddrive, failed drivers are rare, but it happens, I'm not sure where HF is getting 1TB drives in the 3.5 inch form factor, they are very cost-ineffective today, if you are replacing the harddrive, I recommend a larger that 1T because drives are cheap, an exact replacement on amazon (1TB) is $26, and a 2TB for ~ $49, 4TB for ~$69, 8TB for ~$125, lots of options - thanks for subscribing!
@@snapwholeharborfreightreviews They"er not completely 1 TB because they have to load a little bit of recovery software on the drive that takes up a little space. Hewlett Packard had this and it kept you from going crazy trying to fix something. Unfortunately they got sued for that. Thats why H.F. has to disclose in the instructions its not 1TB. Its nice to have that because it keeps you from pulling your hair out, lol
@@johnbrandon1416 a recovery partition is not needed on this system, it loads system software from solid state storage, the hard drive is not required to run the system, only to record video, there is a lot of misunderstanding on hard disk size due to 2 different methods and units to denote size, technically a byte = 1024 bits, which is what computer use, manufacturers (actually marketing departments) use a byte = 1000 bits, so a manufacturer says 1TB drives, a computer sees that same drive as ~0.93 TB, the 'missing' space is actually there, but people think in marketing TB, not computer TB - in the days of 20MB drives this was not as big a problem and everyone ignored the marketing vs computer number disparity because it was immaterial, but in the TB range, all those odd 24 bits start to add up - thanks for subscribing!
@@snapwholeharborfreightreviews AAww. I understand. Thanks for that info and thanks for your time to produce the videos. You explain everything perfect.
can you add a solar panel to the 4 channel with moniter for a single camera. I have one camera that needs to go out but no power connection in that spot.
if you can run a cat 6 cable, power is provided over the cat 6 cable, the cables that come with this kit are cat 6 cables for the camera - it is POE (power over ethernet) all of the cameras get power from the NVR - does this help and answer your question? thanks for subscribing!
First of all thank you for posting video it's helped out a lot. I bought this same system and I'm trying to setup my email. The problem I'm having is when I'm on the set email page I don't know what smtp server is. The SMTP Port shows 25. It won't let me test email. It says that "SMTP server cannot be empty" I use Yahoo mail to send and Gmail as my receiver. What would the SMTP server be? thank you I appreciate it
smtp is your ISP's server that you would send mail to, comcast would be smtp.comcast.net for example, you should contact your ISP to get details, port 25 is the default smtp port, but a lot of ISPs use secure smtp, 465, if you use gmail or one of microsoft's mail services, you will need get their details, search google for 'youremail service' pop3 settings (example - comcast pop3 settings - for comcast) might get you the details, you will also need your account name and password before your service will accept email from you - thanks for subscribing!
Okay thank you for your help. I did figure out the SMTP port and I put it all in the system and when I tried to "test the email" it gives me an error screen stating "network is unreachable or DNS is incorrect". I know it connects to the internet because on my tablet I can view the security system but if I try to use my phone internet(not on my Wi-Fi) I cannot stay connected to the security system. It keeps stating offline then it will connect for a few seconds and back offline. but what also is weird is I got two different phones my old phone has no problem staying connected to security system using my home wifi but my new phone that I have to make calls keeps kicking it offline all the time. so I don't know what that problem is either. It might be one problem or I have lots of problems. Lol so any help would be appreciated. thank you again and sorry to be a pain
@@johnnyearney you should check your default gateway and make sure it matches your phone wifi's default gateway - if you have a home machine, open a command prompt and try to ping the name name you entered for the smtp server, the port might not be 25, most ISPs move it to an encrypted port, confirm the server name is the domain name only and does not include any extra characters (example smtp.comcast.net), then confirm your dns server is set correctly, it is also possible your ISP is not allowing the NVR to use uPNP to open the inbound ports, so you might have to contact them to confirm - thanks for subscribing!
the software supports that type of camera, but no information is give on what specific cameras are supported, the software is an OEM type software that can be used as a core for controlling many different accessories, but no details are provided on using accessories that are not provided with the system - these are designed to meet an industry standard for home security system - check the manual for the details of the standard - other camera that support the standard should work with this NVR - thanks for subscribing!
You're welcome. @@snapwholeharborfreightreviews Also the manual is very very lacking in detail and in support features. It's an 8-page fold-out with bare minimum instructions. I was actually trying to find a website for the Cobra Products or a manufacturer, but all I get are more Harbor Freight sites or Amazon ordering links. You know of a place that has the Cobra devices and their manufacturers?
the length limit for a run of cat5/cat5e/cat6 is 100 meters, 328 ft, if you are running 1G on the line (faster lowers the limit to 100ft), that is a perfect run, no RFI sources along the run, cat6 is best of the three standards, heavier wire, more twists per inch, much more likely to get quality signal thru it, the wires that come with this system is cat 5e at best on the ethernet pairs, but technically they don't even meet the cat5 standard, or the cat3 standard either, but the signal I get over the 60 ft cables is ok, but I made sure to keep away from RFI - thanks for subscribing!
I have been using my web browser at home to view my cameras away from the security system. But both Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome have made updates that block any website that isn't HTTPS. How can I update this system to allow HTTPS connections instead of HTTP? Or is there a better method? Thank you.
HSTS is what is causing your problem, the server sends an hsts header telling the browser what to do for http/https, so you can go in and delete the settings in chrome, and all HSTS are set on the domain level, so use microsoft.com or cisco.com etc (no subdomains and no URI) - Ior enter the IP address of your NVR - I don't use edge very much, but in chrome go to this address - chrome://net-internals/#hsts and enter domains you want to not use HSTS settings, which should let you get to http sites, you might have to play with the settings to get what you want, but that is the only HSTS options I know about - thanks for subscribing!
I had a similar problem, did you try switching the failed camera with another camera? I had a problem with the ethernet jack getting water in it and corroding the copper which killed the connection, so it might be the cable - thanks for subscribing!
@@snapwholeharborfreightreviews no the NVR unit failed. Turned off while I was at work. Won't power on. Tried using my other units power supply and no power. It's something internal. Haven't opened it up yet.
are the screens video monitors or TVs? does the screens play sound when used with other devices - without knowing the type of screen, I can't offer much advice - TVs will get sound over the HDMI cable, but monitors might not have a way to play sound - thanks for subscribing!
Thanks for the video first of all. I currently have the bunker hill 8 channel with five of their BNC cameras. Some with a lot of cable. Do you know if they will work with this recorder if I adapt the BNC cable currently at the DVR to cat5 going into this DVR? Also if the current cameras I have set up will work? I know the quality would definitely not be as good but that's not a concern at the moment. Thank.
I would not count on cameras working between systems, especially if one used bnc and one uses power over ethernet, the directions imply this one uses some type of voice over IP (includes video over IP), this system's cameras are design to comply with a new standard for home video security systems and is unlikely so support legacy cameras, until the development of this standard, most home systems used camera communication protocols proprietary to each manufacturer, when you sell to the home market, cost is the most important consideration, not inter-operabiity - thanks for subscribing!
the system comes with a remote control, it is somewhat small, maybe 2 inches x 3 inches - and you basically need line of sight to the NVR for the remote to work - thanks for subscribing!
I bought another camera for the system and cannot get it to work people at Harbor freight hotline does not know about the system that much It says either Cameras are full have no space Or cannot connect to camera I installed camera to another channel and the camera works Could I have a bad line
watch my latest video, it shows me connecting 2 new cameras, I restarted the system when I added them, but not sure if that is required, I'm thinking it needs restarted the first time you add a camera to a new port in the 'switch', and I cover the 'full' harddrive in that video- the harddrive should always be full, completely normal, if you see the recording to 'auto' it uses a circular write method, first video recorded is the first video overwritten - did you put one of your original cameras on that new cable? or try that cable in another port? and restart system when you do it, this could confirm the cable is good or bad - ideally those cable should be CAT6, but I think they are CAT5 (maybe CAT5e at best), CAT6 is better at rejecting interference, both from external sources and from crosstalk in the cable, check your cable routing to confirm it does not go near fluorescent lights, or any motors, like air conditioning, frig or freezer or fan blowers, and voltage over 110v, if it is CAT5, it is barely good enough to carry the signal, if the cable is close to those items, it could cause problems - you will see in the video, I test the cables with the camera right at the NVR before installing them to confirm they are good, it might be hard for you to do if its installed, but that would be the good test before you take it back - there are two ways to do POE, and that cable uses the method I do not like, which is power doing the wires used for signal, much better to use the other method, which uses the 2 pair not used for signal to send power, but that cable is missing those 2 pair - if the cable works with the camera right at the NVR, there is something causing interference, HF's fix for this is to turn the bandwidth from 4K, but getting a CAT 6 cable is a much better solution - but - I have had no problem with interference, or the cables, thanks for subscribing
let me try this on my system, I have not turned off the night vision lights, but I did see the option - will reply after I experiment with that - thanks for subscribing!
I was able to get the spotlight to stay off using the mobile app. You have to manually adjust the deterrence settings for each camera. Don’t forget to hit “save” for each camera after you turn off the light setting.
@@snapwholeharborfreightreviewsI’m still trying to figure out how to disable the infrared/night vision. One of my cameras is inside behind glass and when the infrared comes on you can’t see anything anymore due to the glare. The infrared lights are different from the spotlight (spotlight is in the center, while there are two infrared lights on each side of the spotlight). Figured out how to keep the spotlight off but not the infrared yet.
you can cut video out and save to USB or cloud, but it might be possible to use a browser to access the system and download the video directly, but I don't really expect that to work - thanks for subscribing!
yes, the cameras don't know the difference, just run the cables and install the cameras - you might want to turn off the night vision, the camera has a light it turns on to give light for night vision - thanks for subscribing!
I have motion set to record and set to 8 and everything. However in playback I can only watch all time recordings. There are no yellow saved motion recordings at all. However the little yellow guy does pop up on screen to show motion detected. Any ideas? Thanks!
check the harddrive settings and make sure the overwrite setting is 'auto', if it is not auto, it will not record, that is covered in this video, and under the motion settings, you have to make sure the entire time table is colored red to apply it to all times - this applies to the 4K system, the 1080p system you have to set 1 camera, then copy to the other camera - check those and let me know - thanks for subscribing!
when you go to playback, in the search settings, select all types box (motion, record, pir etc), then hit the search button at the bottom left of the screen, that should help to find the recordings, it will show the recordings on the time line, it is also possible the system is recording all the time is why you have all video - I keep mine on full record all the time, I'll experiment with the motion more and post an update here - thanks for subscribing!
Were you able to determine whether or not the NVR supported POE switches? From what I've read/watched, if the LAN and camera ports are on the same subnet, switches will work. I was eying this system for my home and was going to hookup a couple of cameras in my detached garage and run them into a switch there, then run a single cable back to the house to the NVR.
I did some research, but I have not tried using other switches, but from everything I have read, you can use other POE switches to provide network connectivity and power to the cameras and they will connect to the NVR, I do have some questions about how the connectivity works, do the remote cameras need to be on the same network as the management port? in my case that is my home network, or the camera network, which uses a different IP network address, if the camera network, can you use any port as the uplink? if the NVR offers DHCP for phones in the camera network, I now need a totally separate network from my home network, switches that support vlans would take care of that, but most home networks don't use that type of switch, of course I could use inline power adapters, your setup for garage should work, but unless you run 2 lines, or use vlans, that network will be either a home network or a camera network, it depends on if cameras can connect to the system via the management port - the manual hints at remote connections for cameras, but give no details - this system conforms to a new standard for POE cameras, hopefully the definition for that new standard will have documentation that will answer all of these questions - thanks for subscribing!
you have to select the schedule by highlighting the schedule for when you want to record, That screen should be on the video, try it again and if you can't get it to record, leave me a message and I'll a video on just setting up the record function - thanks for subscribing!
output of the NVR is default to 4K, then drops to 1080p, no video is a problem with finding a common video setting - 4K, 1080p, 720p etc, but frequency can also vary between what the NVR is using and what your monitor supports, if HDMI can not find a common video setting, there probably is not any common settings, you need to try another TV, even just to test and verify it works, you can also try the VGA port, and try to manually set the video settings on the TV to try and match the NVR, 1080p is your best bet, the 202 page manual does not list minimum resolution, the manual says use hdmi and it will auto detect a common resolution, and nothing else...... I recommend trying different TVs or monitors that you might have, just to get it setup enough to access via a web browser on a PC thanks for subscribing!
Did you ever figure out how to get the lights to stay off? I'm planning to use this system on my 18-wheeler, and I can't drive down the road with that light on at night. Thanks.
there is an ethernet cable that runs from the NVR to your how ISP router, which is normally also your wireless access point, this system is completely wired, no wireless, you need wireless connection so your smart phone has something to connect too - thanks for subscribing!
Appreciate the video setup for the camera system. I'm still trying to figure out how to setup the email configuration to Gmail. It's a little confusing 😢
you are better off setting up the email server as your local ISPs email servers, that way you get authenticated access, search you ISP's name with outgoing mail settings, for example, comcast's outgoing mail server is smtp.comcast.net, using port 587 or 465 (25 is default and used by a lot of spammers is why comcast does not use it) with your comcast email as your username, if you want to use gmail, there should be guides provided by google, but the guides I saw for gmail is setting up a mail relay thru gmail, a lot harder to setup then smtp thru your local ISP, the local ISP is going to use authentication to ensure it's you, and is geared toward client to server, google is geared toward server to server is what makes it a little harder - let me know if you get the local ISP working, or need more guidance - thanks for subscribing!
no problems - check this video for first time setup of password - ua-cam.com/video/dPmsgb0hsK8/v-deo.html - I also reset the password in this video, and recommend you limit the password to 8 characters - thanks for subscribing!
check which system you have, 1080p or 4K, the 4k system has a recessed button on the back of the NVR, hold that in long enough and the system will reset to default, hold it just a few seconds and it will erase the password, the 1080p system has no way to reset the password -thanks for subscribing!
I have this same system, got it 2 months ago so it's all still new to me. This thing has been beeping for 3 days now and I don't.know what it's beeping for. Please help me
is the red light also flashing? The only time I have heard it beep is on reboot, and when the harddrive is bad, or alarms are set - the red light flashes when the harddrive is bad - but also look at your config, if you have motion detection on it keeps triggering the beep - look for a setting for motion alarm and turn it off, verify you can see recorded video, or check the HDD status to confirm it is ok, did you configure alarms? and set the action for the alarm to buzz? - a few options to try - thank for subscribing!
@@snapwholeharborfreightreviews ok, so I went in and disabled the motion alarm. But the red light on the front of the box is still flashing rapidly. The alarm sound or beeping sound is gone tho. Should the red HDD light be flashing?

I have same problem...please help!!!
Somehow I got it to automatically switch between cameras. It seems like the cameras aren't assigned a square so it just doesn't put it on screen. Please let me know if you have any luck.
@chrisgarrard2081 click on the camera top of the square, and it'll say pair !! You'll have to click that and press the button on the cameras same time for 3 seconds so if they're already installed you'll need two people.
the video is for the wired system, not the wireless system
@@snapwholeharborfreightreviews can u help?
Have you sorted out how to get the intelligent and AI features to work on this system? I have the same one and it will not allow me to enable them.

How do you link 2 systems? I bought a whole new system just because I couldn’t get cameras… I’d like to have both systems, and 4 cameras up on the screen…
2 systems work separately, you can take the cameras and put them all on one system is the only way that I am aware of -- thanks for subscribing!
Hello quick question do you know how I can delete some of the videos I don’t need, we recently bought this and we were playing around to try to understand the system and we end up with some videos that literary just recorded the wall,
thanks I’m advance!
no need to delete them, the system records on a loop, so first in first deleted, the systems does that automatically, no need to worry, the only way to delete video is to format the harddrive - your harddrive will show full all the time due to this process, if you set it to motion only, it will store a longer time frame, if you turn it on all the time, it will record a shorter time frame, I leave mine on full record all the time and I get over a week of video stored, I have a lot of trees and bushes, so motion only is almost full record anyway, and at night there is a little lag when it detects motion and starts recording, maybe 1-2 seconds, might not sound like much, but you can miss a car driving by in 1-2 seconds - thanks for subscribing!
Got this setup and the 2 cameras lights are always on. There are no instructions on how to set the cameras. Any idea where this info is?
what setting are you wanting to change? there is a setting to turn off the lights and not have night vision, my default anytime it is dark, the lights will be on, but mine turn off during the day, there are three resolutions by default, remote, HD and 4K, but you can set any resolution for any function - functions being HDMI display, browser display, recording and remote viewing - thanks for subscribing !
Just bought this for my brothers shop. He doesnt have Inet yet. Does it have to be hooked up to the inet to use ?
internet is only required if you want access external to your house, a local network with wifi in your house is required if you want to access it from a PC or your phone while in your house - the system can be a stand alone system, and you can view and make changes to the config on the system console just like I am in the video - thanks for subscribing!
I’m having trouble making my wires longer… I got cat 5 connectors and a module but it won’t work to extend
best way to extend is to buy a longer cable, or buy a cat 5 'barrel' connector, you plug a cat 6 cable in each end and it connects the two, not sure what you mean by module - there are two types of barrell connections - some do cross over, some take all wires straight thru, and you want to straight thru - something like this - www.amazon.com/Rapink-Keystone-Connector-Ethernet-Extender/dp/B0916W7LYN/ref=sr_1_1_sspa - thanks for subscribing!
Did you mention sound through the cameras? Could you tell me about that?
I mentioned the sound in the camera install, and the unboxing episodes, the sound options are basically on or off and volume, but the sound is great, I can hear people talk 30 ft from the camera, playlist for 4K system - ua-cam.com/video/dPmsgb0hsK8/v-deo.html thanks for subscribing!
I had the video working when I first tested it, but I broke one Ethernet connector, and still waiting for a replacement (on back order)
After waiting a month I decided to install the other camera but now I can't get the video to on my monitor like had before.
Thanks for the breakdown. My system is saying that there’s no drive. I’m assuming this is failure? I saw your drive replacement video
you can try reseating the harddrive cables, but that is about the only thing to try, after that you will need to get a replacement harddrive, failed drivers are rare, but it happens, I'm not sure where HF is getting 1TB drives in the 3.5 inch form factor, they are very cost-ineffective today, if you are replacing the harddrive, I recommend a larger that 1T because drives are cheap, an exact replacement on amazon (1TB) is $26, and a 2TB for ~ $49, 4TB for ~$69, 8TB for ~$125, lots of options - thanks for subscribing!
@@johnbrandon1416 a recovery partition is not needed on this system, it loads system software from solid state storage, the hard drive is not required to run the system, only to record video, there is a lot of misunderstanding on hard disk size due to 2 different methods and units to denote size, technically a byte = 1024 bits, which is what computer use, manufacturers (actually marketing departments) use a byte = 1000 bits, so a manufacturer says 1TB drives, a computer sees that same drive as ~0.93 TB, the 'missing' space is actually there, but people think in marketing TB, not computer TB - in the days of 20MB drives this was not as big a problem and everyone ignored the marketing vs computer number disparity because it was immaterial, but in the TB range, all those odd 24 bits start to add up - thanks for subscribing!

can you add a solar panel to the 4 channel with moniter for a single camera.
Does this setup support any cobra cameras that can rotate and swivel?
the software supports that type of camera, but no information is give on what specific cameras are supported, the software is an OEM type software that can be used as a core for controlling many different accessories, but no details are provided on using accessories that are not provided with the system - these are designed to meet an industry standard for home security system - check the manual for the details of the standard - other camera that support the standard should work with this NVR - thanks for subscribing!
You're welcome. @@snapwholeharborfreightreviews Also the manual is very very lacking in detail and in support features. It's an 8-page fold-out with bare minimum instructions. Do you know if you can run up to 300 foot of cat five cable
the length limit for a run of cat5/cat5e/cat6 is 100 meters, 328 ft, if you are running 1G on the line (faster lowers the limit to 100ft), that is a perfect run, no RFI sources along the run, cat6 is best of the three standards, heavier wire, more twists per inch, much more likely to get quality signal thru it, the wires that come with this system is cat 5e at best on the ethernet pairs, but technically they don't even meet the cat5 standard, or the cat3 standard either, but the signal I get over the 60 ft cables is ok, but I made sure to keep away from RFI - thanks for subscribing!

Does the cobra system have a remote control?

I bought another camera for the system and cannot get it to work people at Harbor freight hotline does not know about the system that much It says either Cameras are full have no space Or cannot connect to camera I installed camera to another channel and the camera works Could I have a bad line
watch my latest video, it shows me connecting 2 new cameras, I restarted the system when I added them, but not sure if that is required, I'm thinking it needs restarted the first time you add a camera to a new port in the 'switch', and I cover the 'full' harddrive in that video- the harddrive should always be full, completely normal, if you see the recording to 'auto' it uses a circular write method, first video recorded is the first video overwritten - did you put one of your original cameras on that new cable? or try that cable in another port? and restart system when you do it, this could confirm the cable is good or bad - ideally those cable should be CAT6, but I think they are CAT5 (maybe CAT5e at best), CAT6 is better at rejecting interference, both from external sources and from crosstalk in the cable, check your cable routing to confirm it does not go near fluorescent lights, or any motors, like air conditioning, frig or freezer or fan blowers, and voltage over 110v, if it is CAT5, it is barely good enough to carry the signal, if the cable is close to those items, it could cause problems - you will see in the video, I test the cables with the camera right at the NVR before installing them to confirm they are good, it might be hard for you to do if its installed, but that would be the good test before you take it back - there are two ways to do POE, and that cable uses the method I do not like, which is power doing the wires used for signal, much better to use the other method, which uses the 2 pair not used for signal to send power, but that cable is missing those 2 pair - if the cable works with the camera right at the NVR, there is something causing interference, HF's fix for this is to turn the bandwidth from 4K, but getting a CAT 6 cable is a much better solution - but - I have had no problem with interference, or the cables, thanks for subscribing

check the harddrive settings and make sure the overwrite setting is 'auto', if it is not auto, it will not record, that is covered in this video, and under the motion settings, you have to make sure the entire time table is colored red to apply it to all times - this applies to the 4K system, the 1080p system you have to set 1 camera, then copy to the other camera - check those and let me know - thanks for subscribing!
Did you figure it out?
when you go to playback, in the search settings, select all types box (motion, record, pir etc), then hit the search button at the bottom left of the screen, that should help to find the recordings, it will show the recordings on the time line, it is also possible the system is recording all the time is why you have all video - I keep mine on full record all the time, I'll experiment with the motion more and post an update here - thanks for subscribing!

I can't get my video to come up on TV any help would be great
output of the NVR is default to 4K, then drops to 1080p, no video is a problem with finding a common video setting - 4K, 1080p, 720p etc, but frequency can also vary between what the NVR is using and what your monitor supports, if HDMI can not find a common video setting, there probably is not any common settings, you need to try another TV, even just to test and verify it works, you can also try the VGA port, and try to manually set the video settings on the TV to try and match the NVR, 1080p is your best bet, the 202 page manual does not list minimum resolution, the manual says use hdmi and it will auto detect a common resolution, and nothing else...... I recommend trying different TVs or monitors that you might have, just to get it setup enough to access via a web browser on a PC thanks for subscribing!

Appreciate the video setup for the camera system. I'm still trying to figure out how to setup the email configuration to Gmail. It's a little confusing 😢
you are better off setting up the email server as your local ISPs email servers, that way you get authenticated access, search you ISP's name with outgoing mail settings, for example, comcast's outgoing mail server is smtp.comcast.net, using port 587 or 465 (25 is default and used by a lot of spammers is why comcast does not use it) with your comcast email as your username, if you want to use gmail, there should be guides provided by google, but the guides I saw for gmail is setting up a mail relay thru gmail, a lot harder to setup then smtp thru your local ISP, the local ISP is going to use authentication to ensure it's you, and is geared toward client to server, google is geared toward server to server is what makes it a little harder - let me know if you get the local ISP working, or need more guidance - thanks for subscribing!

check which system you have, 1080p or 4K, the 4k system has a recessed button on the back of the NVR, hold that in long enough and the system will reset to default, hold it just a few seconds and it will erase the password, the 1080p system has no way to reset the password -thanks for subscribing!
