Love the drumming - hate most of the comments... why can‘t the fanclub of the less known yet very talented performer be as respectful as their hero himself? Those two outstanding drummers having fun together jamming are a great joy... thank you for sharing!
A common theme with the "hate comments" is so and so is better than ... With these talented drummers/percussionists they have a mutual respect and admiration for each other and NEVER between them will you hear "Better than."
Amen to that! Two great musicians putting their greatness on display. I agree: better than looking like a fool for armchair opinionated "better than" remarks, is to just move on to some other video; bcs this is clearly over your head.
@Kal El What's your point? You dislike the Dream Theater music, that's ok, not everybody has good taste in music and I feel sorry for you, but coming here and say something so mean?
jealousy and lack of the ability to read the room. Mike isn't the drummer that i turn to for inspiration, but his skills are undeniable. he plays the way he does because he wants to, and no one can change that. shit-talking any drummer or musician is pointless. sure it's fun to poke fun at different styles in a humorous way, but the people who comment negatively need to grow up or switch to sports where venomous hating seems to be the norm
Saw Terry at Drum Daze in Columbus OH...I'll never forget him mid solo ushering in his drum tech to tune one of his toms to his liking lol...Shout out to Columbus Pro Percussion! Took lessons there for many years. They always brought the coolest drummers to Drum Daze!
To the keyboard critics: I have done drum kit duets several hundred times. There are 2 people and they each have a style. They meet somewhere in the middle. What they do with it depends on the day, how many times they have played together, and a bunch of personality shit has to be werked out. But no matter what you hope for its always what it is... Fun!!
Okay,i closed my eyes. But every time Portnoy does a fill, especially that fuckin RLKKRLKKRLKK pattern, my eyes are opened by sheer anger. Im not digging this shite.
Mike is my favorite drummer of all time...hands down.. but even he will tell you Bozzio sits at the head of the drummer cool table. And anyone who doesn't agree doesn't know drums
Or simply has a different opinion virgil donati blows both these guys out the water i do enjoy how bozzio more considers himself a percussionist than just a drummer and kinda under impressed by portnoy kinda overplays not really focusing on the mix
ChronicInfluencedCody knows better. He must be an awesome drummer to sit in the judgement seat over these two masters... I saw Bozzio live w FZ = monster on drums- and he can read the notes. Incredible then and better now. Came across Portnoy later - love his playing. Love Donato's playing as well. Why can't we just appreciate good playing?
Reminds me of the time Dave Wreckel, Vinnie Caluta,And one other drummer they did a fantastic concert all at the same time almost the same tempo good stuff
Bozzio's ending ! Ohh Boyy..... Got Mickey humbled that expression 😊 saying to himself can't believe he just did that !,😑 lololol. Terry is the true Goat !! Unreal He's at the Guru level after watching this !!
Soooo ..for you, ian paice, john bonham, phil collins, cozy powell, nick mason, appice s brothers, ginger Baker, clive burr, terry williams, stewart copeland.... ....were basketball players??
Portnoy sounds great here, very musical and nice. But Bozzio... Oh Bozzio... Why did he cut his hair- LOL Bozzio has always been a favorite and an influence. His video on solo drumming very much influenced me back in 90 or 91! Saw him with Jeff Beck too!
The difference in their techniques is huge, but work well together. Sure, Bozzio can play just about anything Portnoy can. But damn!! Bozzio's been doing this longer than Portnoys been able to walk. So let him cram in the triples and flaming bass drum riffs. The bottom line, i wish I could play half as good as either of them.
Would have loved to see Mike lay back a little bit like he did at the end. A bridge section of that lighter dynamic stuff would have complimented Terry's kit very well. At least that's what I kept waiting on and when I got it at the end, it was over....bummer.
This is an amazing pairing of two supreme experts in their craft. The only way this could have been made better us if you threw in Thomas Lang, Mike Mangini, and Marco Minnemann, five different styles jamming out together would be a sight to see, and an eargasmic experience.
frank alfar I think I saw what you were trying to do there. :-) See if I'm on your wavelength... "Several Species of Small Furry Animals, Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With a Pict." Quite possibly one of the longest song titles ever. Old Pink Floyd...holds the record as the longest song ever...at least for them. Roger Waters' song from their double album Ummagumma. Roger generated all the noises and sounds in that bit of what he calls concrete poetry. (Picts were the early Scots.)
Both awesome drummers no doubt .my personal favorite is portnoy. but their drum sound levels don‘t match.either bozzio ‘s drums sound should have been increased or portnoy‘s drums sound should have been decreased then it would sound much better.
Very interesting watching terry try to keep a style of playing going, and Mike walking all over it and turning a killer Latin thing into a rock thing. Mike needs to step back and learn sometimes, but don’t we all
Yes so true. A young bozzio of the 80's and early 90's would go balls to the wall speed metal with Portnoy, but Terry has grown and matured so deeply with just not drums, but all types of world percussion. Terry is like the metal shit, been there done that, what else can be done that hasn't.
Nice comment. I've noticed TB is ever exploring n evolving; a true student of his craft. I don't know why he gets dissed so much on utub. I learned about Portnoy much later in life, but I like his drumming as well.
Set up crew: ok Mike, got any special equipment requests?

Nathan C genius hahaha XD
Hahahaha priceless!
LOL. Best comment ever.

Bozzio is such a percussionist. So many different sounds at his disposal

Two completely different set of skills, styles and drum setups complimenting each other beautifully, percussion that is music for my ears...
Yeah I dont know why people keep trashing Mike they sound great together
@Kal El What's your point? You dislike the Dream Theater music, that's ok, not everybody has good taste in music and I feel sorry for you, but coming here and say something so mean?
@@fredyair1 I don't care for DT at all but I think Mike is fantastic in this. I love these collaborations between percussionists.
No. 2 total differents levels....read the comment below ti understand the evidence

Mike: I have a monster Kit.
Terry: Hold my elephant bones
Terry Bozzio es gran influencia de muchos de nosotros los bateristas, incluído a Mike Portnoy.
First time seeing this. Very rhythmic and easy to listen to. Two great drummers.
Bozzio is trying to take this somewhere else....Mike is like 'What's wrong with The Stadium'.
Two different styles of drumming coming together to make some magic!
Very cool and creative drumming confined in a 7.39 minute set. Can't deny their talents...

if you close your eyes and listen you wont give a fuck who's drumming. dig it
Okay,i closed my eyes. But every time Portnoy does a fill, especially that fuckin RLKKRLKKRLKK pattern, my eyes are opened by sheer anger. Im not digging this shite.
I would love to see this swapping drum kits
That sounded dirty for some reason
Bozzio’s kit is so organic and warm. I want those thick sticks as well.
Straordinari 👍👍🤗🤗👏👏👏
Terry is the master here... in every way.
If you're right the whole thing is useless
TERRY BOZZIO UN FENOMENO EN LA BATERIA !!!!

Sorry. The Master,BUDDY RICH sits on that throne!!
Virgil Donati blowing these two out of the water is totally delusional @@xcodychaosx
Bozzio is self absorbed and often not very musical
I miei due batteristi preferiti in duetto.. semplicemente splendidi
Oh Yeah !!! Total Awesomeness Here ☺☺😎👊💯💯💖 Thanx a Mil for This Upload ☺☺😎💯💯
African drum set vs Metal drum set.😂 I love you both.😊
Two of the very best!
Great drummers...thank you very much!
Facebook asked just last week , Who are your Top 10 Drummers Neil then these 2 then Carter Beauford . Nice treat to see these two play together.
Love Terry b since Frank Zappa 😎 back in the 70 s
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS ♥️♥️♥️
The sounds are so good. Great drumming.
Best of the best drummers
I wish more bands would do this instead of two guitars.
Doobie brothers!!
King Crimson. Two and two!
Yes: 1 singer, 1 bass player, 2 drummers, 2 keyboard players 2 guitar... shit.
Hell yeah, guest drummers are being called in many instances
oh and the Melvins!
Reminds me of the time Dave Wreckel, Vinnie Caluta,And one other drummer they did a fantastic concert all at the same time almost the same tempo good stuff
"Another drummer"? 😂 Steve Gadd..!
Flabbergasting combination!
Bozzio's ending ! Ohh Boyy.....
Got Mickey humbled that expression 😊 saying to himself can't believe he just did that !,😑 lololol.
Terry is the true Goat !! Unreal He's at the Guru level after watching this !!
LOVING THE WAY THEY COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER....NOT A SWINGING CONTEST. THEY'RE DEFINITELY LISTENING TO EACH OTHER...
Now here's someone that understands what's going on here!
I love Portnoy so damn much
This was amazing
for me Terry and Mike are the best drummers of the world, FOR ME
I hear ya......and agree certainly in my top 5 of all time...later to the critics.....
You should check out Mike Mangini he is better than both of these guys put together on a completely higher level
Mike P is good, but he would never have played for Frank. Bozzio is different league.
@@drevdh7645 maybe but Terry wouldn't have played for dream theater

How many drums do you need for your kit?
Terry: yes
@Philip Gannello definitely need to check that out!!! Thanks
The sound of the drums. Rich solid. Not like ringing a bell but really deep solid sonic taters and gravy. Love this vid.
This fits wonderfully!
Amazing.
szenzációs ( fantasztikus ) !!!!!
Swear by watching this in front of eye will give chills
Portnoy sounds great here, very musical and nice. But Bozzio... Oh Bozzio... Why did he cut his hair- LOL
Bozzio has always been a favorite and an influence. His video on solo drumming very much influenced me back in 90 or 91! Saw him with Jeff Beck too!
That was epic!
I can't help but feel one of Bozzio's drumheads is gonna break any second.
That was beautifully fun. Thx dudes
just luv it
This is a great soundtrack score to an martial arts movie scene. Big boss meets his demise
Cool! That would be a wild workout!
fucking awesome performance! two diferente styles of percussionista together!
Terry makes playing the drums look effortless, great duo 😊
There's definitely musicality between both of these expert drummers.
INSANE!!!!!!
Portnoy : I'll bring My Monster Kit!!
Bozzio : Really!! 😏
@@djevon4853 ...it was a joke.. obviously you've never seen bozzio's monster kit. take a look at it some time.
Wrong the kit brings the monster

amazing heavy drumming
Watching this on my iPad almost summoned my ancestors.
Terry did a lot of stuff with Zappa too, awesome jam sesh!
Either one has forgotten more than ill learn in my life
olé Mike!

HERE HERE!!! Great comment n cool "handle"- lol!
Dum*fkk.. Portnot is lot more technical than
You couldn't be more wrong, Kong. Portnoy doesn't do anything here any average metal drummer can't do. Bozzio's technique is beyond next level.
Mike Portnoy is the best.
So sick
I love seeing Terry beat the crap out of that cow bladder drum thing-a-ma thing.
Awesome
He restrained soooo much doing those Portnoy Fills during ... 2 minutes
ANYBODY CAN DO THAT‼️ Fun... 🤩
The one playing the tambourine gets my vote.
Che bello
🔥🔥🔥
Clearly these two lads love drums and percussion. They play well together as in ……they listen?❤
I see so much of Eric Carr in Mike's Playing. And Bozzio, Forget About It
Portnoy just can’t sit back for a bit and let Bozzio go? MP keeps playing over Bozzio as if he has anything to show Bozzio….
This actually worked better than I thought it would lol
Would have loved to see Mike lay back a little bit like he did at the end. A bridge section of that lighter dynamic stuff would have complimented Terry's kit very well. At least that's what I kept waiting on and when I got it at the end, it was over....bummer.

Bozzio should've done more than what he did. With all of those percussion drums there he should've let loose like Portnoy did.
They seem to know what they are doing! 😎
I appreciate a real musician playing a real instrument and don't compare anything.
This is an amazing pairing of two supreme experts in their craft. The only way this could have been made better us if you threw in Thomas Lang, Mike Mangini, and Marco Minnemann, five different styles jamming out together would be a sight to see, and an eargasmic experience.
Hell, I'm convinced.
This really good and me being from Long Island nice to see 2 homegrown guys getting down but, not half as good as Simon Phillips and Gavin Harrison.
Pretty funny watching Portnoy run through a good number of trademarked Bozzio riffs. Fun though. Nice to see Terry do this with the kid.
Wow.
Would love to also see a Bozzio/Rikki Rockett duette
BadStar Music please tell me that was sarcasm!!
RIP Kobe
The 2.57 sounds like the intro of Enigma Machine (DT)
Thank God for Korn because I would have never heard of Terry
Serious or satire?
Nathan
And in machu pichu deep in South America
Are some ancient artifacts known as Bolivian drums
Boatload of those would be good

It must be hard to play with baseball bats !!! .....
turn Bozzio up, he might as well be playing pillows
terry’s kit looks like porcaro’s kit in the africa music video

To be a fair match, Mike should have had his Siamese Monster kit.
Been drumming for 20 years. Portnoy is a great time keeper, but Bozzio still rules for improvisation.
That was a lot of Mike with a little bit of Terry
