Why Did We Leave This City After 1 Hour? | Balkan Travel Vlog

- In this Balkan Travel Vlog, we take a day trip from Lake Ohrid to the town of Struga to find out if it’s worth visiting Struga, North Macedonia. Spoiler Alert We don't think so!
Struga is a town and popular tourist destination situated in the southwestern region of North Macedonia, lying on the shore of Lake Ohrid. Struga has always been in the shadow of Ohrid, as Ohrid has more monuments and better-preserved houses.
Originally, we thought we had to take a bus to Struga, but a taxi picked us up and told us the cost by taxi and bus was the same. The cost of the taxi from Lake Ohrid to Struga was a total of $2.
While in Struga we visited the local market, walked through the town, saw a Spomeinik and finished the day off with Turkish ice cream. Honestly, we only spent an hour in Struga, but even that felt like it was too much time. If you’re in Lake Ohrid we recommend staying and spending all your time in Ohrid!
We personally don’t think Struga was worth visiting, but after watching this video would you visit the small town of Struga?
Thanks for watching our Balkan Travel Vlog!

We did not do a great job showing Struga. There was something about it that we just didn't like. They can't all be gems! Thanks for watching!
How can you see whole town in 1 hour? Are you high or drunk?
Why you are such an a**h***
How can you compare struga with ohrid ? Did you try the food in ohrid compare to struga !!??? Did you see the servis that you get in struga and compare it with ohrid !? You didn’t see nothing a**h***
I'm Albanian and live in the u.s. my family is from there. Albanians generally have great hospitality and love welcoming guests. I dont think you gave the city a chance. Been there many times, the people are nice, and its a good place to visit. Plus the beaches are nice. Your putting the place down after visiting for such a short time? Without even knowing the area or history etc... But everyone has their own opinions and that's ok to. All the best.
@@MrLulzim47 if you’re from there you’re Macedonian
@@MrLulzim47yes that is why the monument is all with graffiti and they want to leave in 1 hour
As an Australian of Macedonian background it makes me sad to see our beautiful towns ruined like this.
The city of Struga (like many towns in the west of Macedonia) is overgrown with Albanians. Think of them as a cancer, you can't cure it and the problem just gets bigger and bigger.
These people have no respect for Macedonia, the people, the language, the customs, tourists, literally anything in the country they call "home."
That statue you saw desecrated with graffiti would of 100% been done by Albanians.
These people only care for their own kind, but when the shoe is on the other foot they cry discrimination and racism.
If you want a pure Macedonian experience other towns like Prilep, Bitola of Strumica would be more your taste. I know for a fact Macedonians love tourists and to teach them about the country as it's not well known for tourism.
On top of that everything is cheap and the food is freshly prepared and delicious.
I hope this helps, and hopefully you visit macedonia again soon
😂😂😂😂😂😂 you have no idea what you’re talking about.
Pity you had to leave,so beautiful town.
Please never come back
You missed some attractions as Nezlobinski Museum and Miladinovci Brothers Memorial. You can't feel the spirit of Struga if u rush.
A word of advice: if you're making travel videos about the places you've visited, it's probably best to refrain from voicing strong negative opinions, especially if you didn't spend much time in a particular city. For instance, in Macedonia, there's a saying "Kako Struga, Nema Druga," which means "like Struga, there is no other." This phrase suggests that Struga is a great place and has been a popular vacation destination for decades upon decades. Expressing outright dismay about a city you barely experienced could come across as dismissive and disrespectful to the local culture and those who appreciate that destination. It's generally better to focus on the positive aspects of the places you visit or offer constructive feedback if you have specific concerns, rather than making sweeping negative judgments based on a brief stay.
I completely respect your opinion. We didn't like the city compared to others. That's our opinion. There are tons of travel creators who will tell you every place is perfect and every food is the best they have ever tried. You don't have to agree with us but we will still voice our opinion on our channel 🫶
SilverTiti got me chuckling
Spending an hour there and suggesting whether to go or not to go..
Drew Binsky spends days before giving any suggestions.
Well, I guess that's why you aren't Drew Binsky.
Yup. That’s not cool.
Who is drew binsky?
@@HaleyandZach its a dude that made it without flashing his girls breasts on his thumbnails for click baiting.
I swear every UA-cam short I see of these two is just the girl complaining about each country they visit.
Not everywhere is going to be like America guys.
At least drew tries to focus on the good each place has to offer
@@annafrancan just click 'dont recommend' lol
I’m surprised. I really like Struga I am in the process of emigrating from California to Ohrid however.
Something about it just didn't click with us. Ohrid is lovely though!
@@HaleyandZach because goverment takes all struga and albanian taxes money and sents to ohrid and macedonian side
Bilions
And albanian turist citys are left behind
They literally paving the roads of ohrid every 3-5 years
In struga every 10 years
No development in struga
It can be done a lot specialty the river goes in middle of the little city
What u see in ohrid today is 80 years old history
Before 1920 ohrid used to be majority albanians and minority of turkish and bullgarians
Used to have 15 mosques or more
And they destroyed all of them
And had lot of history from ottoman which was destroyed too
Same luck happend with albanians of bitola
Which is the city of Albanian alphabet was 85 percent albanians before 1912 now is 5 percent
Same luck shared skopje whoch was 82 percent albanian and was bigest albanian city in ballkan
They started ethnic cleansing from 1913-1963
Most of albanian went to turkey
Today in turkey are 1.5 milion plus albanians from north macedonia live there
If u see the old photos from 1920-1940 is 100 percent defferent history from todays artificial look
@@HaleyandZach nothing is clicking with weird people from i dont know where, from middle of nowhere :p . No money , ho funny, no honey , they say. You like to have a good time without a money, , you have made bad calculations !!!

Ohrid is amazing , the Macedonians are lovely people .
I travel throughout Europe a lot myself and recently came across you guys's page and immediately subscribed. I'm going back to check out your other videos after I get caught up on the more recent ones. You guys are way more down to earth and have a way better sense of humor than a lot of other travel vlog couples. I won't name any names but a lot of them come across as too squeaky clean and corny for me, even though I do enjoy SOME of their content. I like both of your senses of humor, it's more "rough around the edges" I guess you could say, much like myself. Anyway, best of luck to both of you and I look forward to future videos!
Oh...and I'm all about some "silver titi"! Hahaha!
Thank you so much Dave! Glad to hear you enjoy our humor!
Yo thats my contry ive been to struga today i think i kinda saw you today
Very high chance
4:24 no way u spend 3 usd for the ice cream i live in struga and its way cheaper
U never can explore the whole city for 1 hour visit! You missed a lot of key spots to visit in Struga!
They have a saying in struga : like Struga there’s no other one!
You guys are boring
Very nice 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
The Albanian populated places in Macedonia really are quite bad hahah
I am not sure what it is that we don't like because Albania itself is an amazing country
@@HaleyandZach Same I can't explain we found the Albanians living in Macedonia to be different god knows!
To all Americans travelling Europe, not the entire world speaks in an American accent, work on your pronouncations on cities and countries
I'm not surprised that the monument was treated poorly in Struga, that town is mostly Albanian. They don't have very much respect for Macedonian history sometimes. Kind of a shame.
Bro i live here😢
🗿
Ohrid gets way more tourists than Struga. I don't how he came to that.
It's heavily promoted, better maintained, and more money is invested. Struga has an Albanian majority. The same level of care isn't shown.
Ohrid also has more tourist attractions.
Lake, Castle, Turkish Bazaar
Massive skill issue for Struga. Ohrid always has been better
what a flag
