I'm damn impressed, you finished that beast with Hope (he's my favourite character together with Vanille ^^) and you gave me new motivations to do new challenges like this in my absolute favourite game. Thank you very much for this :)
Sk ape i know its not a bad game i played it for 150 hours and i loved it but there are much better games in the series. FF7 and FF10 are much better than this
Could be, I intend to play those two games when I finally get a new and better pc^^ (My current pc is just too bad, I have just 20fps while playing FFXIII for exampel :/ )
My guiltiest pleasure (but not that guilty becuase im proud) is FF13-2. I kind of totally love it. I think the story is gorgeous, and the art design is brilliant. It's so open and free but not open world bs like 15. The openness is blended in the story. Great characters, really touching moments. GORGEOUS music. I love it all. I love to see people still playing ff13.
I don’t get why everyone thinks Hope makes the game harder and is weaker. With the right accessories, he is very powerful. He’s my favorite character and main!
Well, he does have like 60% of the HP the other characters have. He's definitely the most glass-cannon-ish of the cast, which is a mixed bag when your leader choice has to survive, else you game over. Plus he kind of comes off like a whiny kid for big chunks of the game to a lot of people; I appreciate his gameplay more than I appreciate his character, personally. Those are worthwhile trades for the -aga spells, though.
@@ItsMrBozToYou I can see that. Imo Hope grew up and developed the most in the story. Even in his battle dialog you can hear him grow up. He goes from summoning Alexander by shouting in a desperate, scared way, to summoning him with a simple, commanding, strong, mature shout. Hope as a character has so much growth and I love it.
The hate for Hope doesn't come from his ability but by his botched personality arc, which I agree but it was a localization problem that completely ruined this game. It's as if someone sabotaged the game from within. Reason why is so hated. No no, I am not saying the game is perfect. I am saying the game is not trash as some people want to tell you. Is it a departure from previous final fantasy games? Bruh... thr departures STARTED arguably with FF8 but FFX was as far removed from any previous installment as it can get and that game is absolutely venerated. Even some haters have come around to liking the spheregrid. Someone fucked this games story and characters for the English release and, as mentioned, the departed nature from previous games combined made this game the black sheep of the series. This game was absolutely ADORED in Japan, which it proves my point to a degree. If the game was so hated, how the hell did it get 2 sequels and constantly topped the charts in Japan? Because the story and characters were handled well and everything made sense. Then the English localized just butchered it to hell....
@PrabhdeepX : Starting any ravager special move, be it army of one, cold blood, or LR then switching to cerberus increase damage because commandos get a damage bonus on all they do, so you trick the game into thinking a commando did the move and get a damage increase of roughly 40-60% usually IIRC. I use it with army of one on light all the time.
I was in the comments section, but than I went back up and realised your using my team setup haha. I prefer these 3 as a team, I did try the others but I wasn’t impressed, this setup works best for me. I have Vanille as the leader though. Instead of watching people play it I should go play it myself, the cravings are getting intense.
Frenchi Lupo, Yea, her magic is lower than her attack, but players take more damage when closer to the Long Gui. So to minimize the damage, Magistral Crests to make their Magic higher, and therefore make the AI attack Ruin.
@SBustathedogX Well that's kinda what a Sen does. It reduces the damage you receive. Having more Sentinels in a party significantly reduces damage even further. Kinda like how being a Rav is mainly to boost the chain gauge or how a Com does the most damage. It's what they do.
@Dnote147 you can go back so dont worry, when you get chapter 13 in orphan´s cradle you get three gates to go back to some places, one of them is gran pulse. when you defeat barthandelus for the second time your crystarium is expanded and you can get the ultimate attacks for the memers like cold blood for sazh, army of one for light, death for vanille etc etc but i dont remember if you get more atb. i remember today i have 5 atb gouges and i havent beaten the chapter 13.
Is it just me or are Fang + Vanille just objectively the best two members because of -ra buffs? They are also the most awesome characters in the story. I dislike Fang as a Ravager though lol because she is always out of sync with vanille and hope, and slower. Then after this depends on preference. For me Hope was always in the last slot because of his versatility in different (having curasa, enspells/barspells, all elements and elude for example). Until Sazh and Snow get curasa hope and vanille are 100% the best two healers (and probably still are even then but those getting curasa is nice). Hope's downsides are no adrenaline in commando and low hp though. Plus his AI on sen doesnt like using elude However if someone wanted a purely physical dps team for certain enemies then I doubt vanille and hope fit this category. Probably Fang/Snow/Lightning in this regards. Thing is with this game though it has some great abilities if you sacrifice stats To me one of the most useful synthesis abilities is random: instant chain. Having this pop on enemies with annoying stagger rates is a godsend. Everytime i fought a cactuar it popped so the % chance is hardly even low (i make sure everyone has it). Some weapons let you have this ability with one less accessory (weapons like stagger lock) but you dont really want to have 3 stagger lock characters. Procyons for example lets you obtain this synth If course its a useless ability on anything thats immune to it
@NikuNekoDoki Is there a way for me to get back to Pulse after you beat barthadelus the second time, or once you get back to Cocoon, you can't go back? Also, after you beat Barthandelus the second time, does the crystarium level expand and do you get another ATB gauge?
@NikuNekoDoki oh and when you beat the last boss (completing the game) you get the final stage of the crystarium and you can complete it and get some trophies (if you have interest in the trohpy)
I think out of the 6 characters, Hope has the harder fight against Long Gun as leader, as his strategy really needs you to maintain and stagger the two legs at the same time for efficiency.
You get them before you completely finish the story. Completing the story gives you 4 accessory slots and stage 5 in everything plus more stat boosts (but the CP required is obviously extreme) Getting 4 accessory slots is pretty huge imo so putting off completing the game and doing all the farming / sidequesting beforehand is a trap imo because you complete the game and get a new accessory slot for basically just long gui farming but most people won't be interested in long gui farming anyway
EVERYONE WHO LIKED FF XII BUY NUMBER FFIII-2 EVEN BETTER THEN THE ORIGINAL MORE EASY AND LOADS TO DO AND C LOVE IT HATED THE FIRST TO HARD never finished playing it
LR has a stagger damage boost and makes use of Hope's superior Mag. Death can benefit from Enfire vs. Imperil (LR cannot, despite OP using enfire in the video). They tend to even out in damage but Death requires extra steps to catch up (spend time casting Enfire, Imperil) so LR comes out ahead. Also to max out Vanille's Mag you have to sacrifice debuffing, whereas Hope's best weapon is always his topmost Mag. So there's really not much comparison.
@@nfinn42 Regarding direct damage dealt, they are equally strong (both have a 4.0 multiplier vs. single targets). Death outdoes LR if there is an exploitable elemental weakness. And if Vanille manages to activate Adrenaline, then she should outdamage Hope even with less Mag (generally speaking).
the big trouble is the 999,999 Genji cap. Death maxes out there, LR can go past it because it's 8 hits. All LR has to do is consistently hit 125k+ per hit and it will automatically outclass the best possible Death. A lot of the arguments pro: Death (Vanille gets Adrenaline, Vanille can benefit from En-buffs, Vanille can use a Mistleteinn Nirvana for Ally KO Power Surge) run headfirst into the damn damage cap. At high levels it's just the elephant in the room. :/ So since we can't do much about damage, we can talk about speed. Consider the effects of siphoning, Death casts slightly faster on its own but LR magnifies ATB recovery 8x from passives like Fearsiphon and Faultsiphon. Combine this with Hope's Urubutsin (level 2 Otshirvani) which has Siphon Boost II (double all Siphon ATB recoveries), and you get some huge ATB recovery. 0.1 ATB per hit per Fearsiphon plus 0.2 ATB per hit per Faultsiphon, times eight hits, times 2 for Siphon Boost II on a maxed Otshirvani Nue, gets you (0.3 x 16 =) 4.8 ATB segments recovered per LR. Basically by the time you swap back into Ravager to recast LR, Hope's ATB should be restored, then you cast and immediately go back to Cerberus for the hit. The Otshirvani Nue has about 200 less Mag than the Hawkeye Nue, which is about a 7% drop in Mag overall (factoring in Hope's whopping 1900 Mag, but assuming no other Mag-boosting equipment like Crests). 7% less Magic does magnify across eight hits, but I think is more than countered by his absolutely nuts ATB acceleration from Siphoning. Note that LR also has splash damage so if you are fighting multiple enemies (such as Neochu and his babies), you can siphon even faster and LR's damage stacks up even higher. Finally it's worth noting Vanille has no Siphon Boost weapons, the ability is Hope-only. At high levels really your biggest delay is paradigm shift time. (Some have gone so far as to argue that it's better to leave Otshirvani at level 2 (Urubutsin) and synth ATB boosts but I think sacrificing about 500 more Mag (plus whatever you sacrifice by losing crests) tips the balance too much towards speed and away from power. Hope with Siphon Boost II and with every LR hitting charges so fast you may need to set battle speed to slow so you don't waste your opportunity to shift at the right moment.) Basically the big selling point for Vanille is that you can build for Death a bit more flexibly (since it works with her best overall weapon) and she's a stronger overall character than Hope, who is a bit of a glass cannon / specialist by endgame. Vanille's Adrenaline damage boost is great (assuming you're at 70% HP to activate it, not always guaranteed against megabosses) but will typically be irrelevant due to Genji cap: Death hits 999,999 and stops while LR keeps going. These issues we're discussing really only matter against ultimate bosses like Long Gui, Shaolong Gui, Vercingetorix, etc. so we're talking about endgame / ultimate builds.
@@nfinn42 I didn't research it thoroughly, but is it even possible to reach more than 99 999 points of dmg, let alone 125 000+ points of dmg per hit with LR? I highly doubt it, but I could be missing some multipliers.
so the thing with Long Gui is he has innate 90% Resist physical and magic making it very hard to even scratch him - but characters' ultimate abilities (the ones that take 5 atb) automatically pierce resistance. (on the downside, they do not get bonus damage against monsters with weakness). Fang and Snow are out of contention because Highwind and Sovereign Fist both end stagger, so you can only use them once per Stagger. Lightning and Sazh aren't terrible, but their ultimates (Army of One and Cold Blood) are better at raising chain gauge than dealing damage. The best options are Hope with Last Resort and Vanille with Death. Both abilities share the 'pierce resistance' ability and both do good damage. Both are based on Magic stat. Hope has the highest possible Magic stat in the game, meaning the raw damage of his Last Resort is probably the best repeatable ultimate you can use repeatedly during a stagger - *unbuffed* . Vanille's Death does comparable damage (Last Resort does 8x half strength hits, Death does a single 4x damage hit), and does not get a damage boost against Staggered enemies - but unlike Last Resort, Death *is* affected by elemental buffs. So if you Imperil the Long Gui and grant Vanille Enfire you can further enhance her Death damage by apparently making it... fiery Death. However her base Magic stat that this damage is all based on can't get as high as Hope's, plus you have to go to the trouble of putting Enfire on her. All in all it's about a wash, so OP opted for Hope. (I don't know why OP put Enfire on him since it won't enhance Last Resort). Finally, you will notice that when OP fires off Last Resort, he waits and then switches to Cerberus paradigm during the casting animation but before the spell lands. This is commonly known as the "commando trick" in XIII circles. Every attack gets a damage bonus per Commando in your party, including attacks that were launched by Ravagers etc. Hope's Last Resort is on his Ravager crystarium, but you can grant it bonuses from all three commandos (including Hope!) by swapping paradigms before the ability hits. This is one of the highest DPS moves possible in FFXIII. Against most enemies it's either pointless overkill or timewasting, but the Long Gui's burly physical and magic resistance means you desperately need to use those resistance-piercing ultimates, and Hope's is the best! Hope this helped, I can explain further if you're still confused. The monster in the video btw is NOT the basic Adamantoise which can be seen stomping around the Archylte Steppe shortly after arriving on Pulse, but the FAR tougher Long Gui, toughest boss in the whole game and worth a PS4 trophy all by itself if you can take one down. 16.2 million HP and 90% resist all attacks = Emerald WEAPON eat your heart out!
At the end the equips are shown. They have a magic weapon plus 4 magistral crest accessories which is like +1200 to magic. The weapon has 0 strength and 900 magic. This will probably make her ravager AI use spells instead of strikes (which are annoying and slow) 4:22
