I found this video really helpful and was able to defeat the Long Gui using this trick. I had trouble defeating it without a summon, so this really helped.
Did you make sure to also apply Imperil, buff Enfire, get a couple of Death attacks in shortly before staggering Long Gui, and shift to COM/COM/COM for every Death? Imperil/Enfire doubles your damage. Shifting to Cerberus for every Death will more than double your damage (at max stats, it'll nearly triple it). If you have triple the base stats but are missing those two factors, you're dealing less damage.
Haha, my post was 3 months ago, now I know exactly what to do :P I think the "Imperil + En(element) factor" is one of the most "pro" aspects of the game. Most people don't imagine the difference it does in damage given.
you're target time was 1 hour 3mins and 59 seconds... and you took it down in 3mins 40 seconds? Is there even a way to drag it out long? even against a Long Gui lol, epic man... love your vids xD
I just finally got to the point where I can kill Adamantortoises and Adamantoises without death. I still need to summon though. When do you get to the point where you can kill them without summoning?
I've got full maxed crystariums, I can stand up to the Long Gui. BUT! The ASSHOLE threw a doom on my main character and it was all over. I've got the worst luck of them all. He has left 6millions hp and timer in the doom counter is at end. How nice...... I would've won without the doom, which I couldn't remove. Summoning only halted it.
Was vanille's death nerfed? He's deshelled, imperilled, poisened and I have all shrouds going when she's got 2200 plus magic. I only hit around 120k or so while you're hitting 400k+.
I can get the Long Gui to about 5% of it's remaining HP then it stands up again and it's over for me. :( I made sure to go as slowly as possible in Gestalt Mode to get the most out of poison. I reapplied Deshell / Poison once out of Gestalt mode and then started to spam death / change roles as quickly as possible. I have everyone's crystarium maxed too. -__-

A decade too late. Maybe the guy was using the gestalt passive that increases the duration of gestalt mode
How is it that you're doing 400,000 when I'm only doing 96,000 and we have the exact same setup? I have the genji glove equiped and everything. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong
Long Gui stays down for 90 seconds, and time with a Summon on the field doesn't count. Check the vid and you can see that 90 seconds pass from Hecatoncheir leaving to the Long Gui standing (and dying).
I liked how you changed Paradigms just to get a full ATB gauge, after every "turn" when Vanille had her summon out. Clever.
Man this game had a great battle theme.

That was adamantortoise there is a diffrence between adamantoise and adamantortoise

@ That's not what the "gestalt" ability does. It just increases how much the gestalt gauge increases, not how long gestalt mode lasts.
