In this video we start the SAB kraken 580 build, again David thank you for letting me build your heli! Of course SAB makes a quality and fantastic kit!
Wow im so glad I found your video im getting ready to build my K580 soon. Just got the last few things so im ready to build, but im using a scorpion Motor and ESC. And the spectrum FC6250HX with one of the same satalites you have. Im using the same upgraded belt tensioner, but Ibhave KST servos..Thank again for the video it really helps people loke me...
Awesome! That is the whole point of my videos is to help people. I’m glad you find it useful! Part two will be out Monday! The 6250 is a good FBL! I have heard good things about them and I’ve only messed with the mini and not the full size. But I like all the programming to your radio for forward programming is super nice!
There great its always good to see how someone thats knows what their doing build one. Im going to start my build tonight and get caught up to where your at. Thanks again for the help!!!
The tip about the metal servo washers is great! I am doing this build with the same Torq servos and they only come with the rubber grommets. If I hadn't watched your video I wouldn't have known about them. Thanks!
Hi @Andy G. I found them on HeliDirect. mini: www.helidirect.com/products/torq-replacement-servo-washers-for-torq-kst-mini-servos standard: www.helidirect.com/products/torq-replacement-servo-washers-for-xpert-bk-fullsize-servos-1 Hope this helps.
Yes, I waited for you next upload. Can't wait for your final conclusion between the Raw and Kraken because I have been contemplating between these 2 and can't make up my mind.
I’m really excited to try them both, so I don’t think anything can beat the RAW as far as flight performance and power to weight ratio. But Both the RAW 580 and Kraken 580 will have the same motor ESC and battery setup so power to weight will be very similar so that will give a great test to air frame design.
Little late to the party, but I have been watching the SAB 580 build videos you have. I ordered one last week form HD, it is on back order, but from all the videos and “sleeping” on it for a few days. I knew I would have been mad at myself for missing the 20% off, you just can’t beat it, so I got the 580 kit and I’m going to build it with the same servos, motor etc in the videos. I’ll be buying everything else slowly in the coming month, looking forward to it!
Awesome! The RAW 580 is my favorite heli ever made. Such a. Incredible heli and flys amazing! I’ve got a electric and nitro 580! I hope the videos are helpful and help you along your build! If you have any questions please ask and I will do my best to help with what I can! Good luck!
As a relatively new RAW first-owner, I am very interested in your Kraken impressions. I'll be posting a quick pre-build video this evening. KSE #2 is unboxed and the build table is prepared. Their new light-weight 700 optimized for lower head-speed is also super interesting now. It's really built to do the kind of flying that I might be doing. I'll never stress out a RAW or a Kraken. Those Krakens are good looking birds, though. Now that I own one, I am really quite taken with the SAB products.
I am very interested to see as well. I have flown traditional goblin helicopters in the past and they were never particular my cup of tea/flying style. They always flew pretty heavy and I was not a fan of the full body. But! The Kraken 580 looks very promising and it will be a great comparison against the RAW 580 since they are pretty much identical set up servos FBL unit motor ESC battery. The light weight RAW 700 looks great! I really like that it is a 6S 700! Also! Have you seen the latest release!? Well a Teaser! SAB is coming out with a RAW 420!
Hi, what are the part numbers for the Torq servo spacers you mentioned in the beginning? You mentioned a larger spacer for the rudder and for the cyclic. I am ordering my kit from Helidirect and I don't see those Torq spacers. Thanks!
These are for cyclic www.helidirect.com/products/torq-replacement-servo-washers-for-torq-kst-mini-servos?_pos=1&_psq=Torq&_ss=e&_v=1.0 This is for tail, www.helidirect.com/products/torq-replacement-servo-washers-for-torq-kst-fullsize-servos?_pos=2&_psq=Torq&_ss=e&_v=1.0 On heli direct if you just type in Torq in the search bar they are the first things that pop up. Remember if you are going with full size on cyclic you will need the full size servo spacers. But the way it comes out of the kit, mini on cyclic and full-size on tail.

Unfortunately not that I have found. You can build without the grommets and then add them later. I have built them both ways with the carbon plates and the grommets.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 yeah. I already mounted the servos with the plates and im not happy with it. Thanks ill just add them later if they come back in stock.
No the kit does not come with any servo horns. I recommend using whatever horn comes with your servo. You can get the SAB specific horns if you like completely up to you. I know what you mean! LOL I would not let it hold me up either! But I’ve got box’s of horns.
There is a few ways you can do it. You can buy servo center tool but Hass to be one that can do pulse/frequency or plug it into your FBL unit powered up or mechanically by rotating the servo arm from end to end see where the arm stops and then adjust the arm so you get a full 120° travel and then put the arm in the middle and pull it off.
