Fab video mate, excellent build, thank you, just doing mine now. Just a quick pointer to mention for anyone building, the tail tensioner needs a bit more tension put on it before tightening it. (25:40 mins in) Page 10 in the instructions. Note the orientation of the spring holder, it needs to be held another 90 degrees or so anti-clockwise whilst you tighten the bolt down. Happy building and flying!

for some reason, I had difficult time putting the bolt through the aluminum spring support. I'm not sure if the aluminum piece was not machined correctly, and the diameter was a bit too small. also, relying on screw tightness to hold the spring support angle, thus spring tension, seems iffy to me.

@@westhobbiesrc8051 Why in the 3rd hole the ball in the torq's ? it's more of 15mm ( manual recommend 13-15mm) . 19:27min of the video .. Why not the 2nd hole in the servo arm
@@marcossallua1984 two reasons, number one is for more cyclic throw. Number two and most important is for a straight pushrod. Using the second hole the push rod has a slight angle and the straighter it is the better.
The decals twisted up on mine too when I put the screws in. I should have made the holes bigger but no biggy. I just cut out a small section and it looks ok.
That’s what I did, I used a washer that was just a little bigger than a tear and cut it with an X-Acto knife. On the one that I just built I cut the hole out to the perfect size and they did not tear.
Thanks for a great video. Doing my first heli build with a 420 Raw I bought when it first came out. Head and tail built, but the swash (ball joint) is a bit "sticky" when I move the head around and it bottoms out. Smooth all around otherwise. I have followed the manual and your videos as I'm building, so not sure if this is normal. Not sure the servos will even travel that far in normal operation, but want to correct it before I proceed. Any thoughts?
Thank you for watching. I’m glad these videos are helpful! The RAW 420 is a beast! Yes, that’s normal, the links will wear in and smooth out in a few flights. You will never get those travels to bind the swash after setup. I would not worry about it.

At the 35-second mark, you said you have the grommets for the tail servo. Are they included or do they need to be ordered separately? And if so...what is the product number and description?

Jeff - With my servos centered, the splines do not allow exact alignment with the alignment tool. All 3 cyclic servos are off a little. Can I adjust that with the servo driver?
Yes, so you center your servo then out your arm as close to center as possible then use the Tbox to fine tune the servo to get it perfect or FBL setup to get the servos perfect.
@westhobbiesrc8051 Thanks, Jeff. I'm using KST servos and a 6250hx flb so I wondered if I should wait until I start the flb setup. I don't know if my spektrum battery/servo checker will allow fine tuning. Research time...
So for two reasons, one they will break in a crash and save the servo gear set. Two, the metal horns are not tapped. So I could tap them but I know not everyone has a 2mm tap or the ability to do so.
I'm still a newbie learning how to fly with my M2 V2 , still on basic flying. Not that good yet when helis facing me still trying to avoid it too long. Could i fly that RAW 420 in Normal Mode like the M2 V2 Micro? Thank you
Yes you could definitely fly the 420, running a iKon 2 FBL you can set Auto Level like the M2 as well as rescue. Definitely practice your four-point hover it will make you a better pilot!
Jeff, you rock. I just buried my 420 sport like a fencepost...after 5 years and 500+ flights. Since it's discontinued, I'm going to get the RAW. I used and ESC 100 Amp from Hobbywing in the 420 Sport. Do you think I can re-use that in the RAW? I know they call for the 80 Amp max. Cheers man!
Thank you! I’m glad the videos are helpful! Yes, you can definitely use the Hobbywing 100. The last RAW I built had a Hobbywing 120! I run a 80a ESC in mine but pull well over 100 amps every flight.
Yes there is a difference between the two. LDS is only used with gear box’s (transmission) or OWB. Everything else is Microlube. I highly recommend it but you can use witch ever grease you like.
I’m not sure if loctite green is the same as retaining compound I would have to look that up. But the recommended SAB is a great price and a great product!

They bind up at ~5-6^ positive pitch and i did set it up mechanically as the Manual Said…. Damm it i am about to abandon this huge thing to serve as a Display Model…
DON'T put locktite on screws that goes into plastic... Never. Only into metal/alu parts. Which you 'forgot' to put on the screws into the lock. Use clear nail polish in plastic. The Locktite will not hold up into plastic.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 LoL, but you did put locktite on screws in plastic... For example the landing gear. Ohh, you missed locktite on the first grub screw in the main shaft. And the nail ppolish is possible to take apart again, the CA is almost impossible.

Have u tried the Torq BLS 0808 servos maybe even on your RS4 vs the 508 u have, if so any difference ?
yes I have on a Goblin 380 three blade, I didn’t really notice any difference other than they felt a little stronger.

That green retainer compound, can I use locktite green for that ?

Ok I got my raw 420 built but the battery tray snaps in locks but if I give it a light tug it comes out. Is that normal?
No! That’s normal at all. The pack will fall out in flight. Check and make sure the pin is going all the way in the tray.

Yes they do, they fit very well and a great upgrade over the 3055
What frequency do you run your servos on
These are on 1520, you can set 760 if your have the programming box but it’s not needed on these small servos.

Can you give what servos? Have you selected the proper HZ and frequency of the servo in the FBL unit?
