I could listen to DB all day, great show.
Great discussion. Really enjoyed the opportunity and thank you for having me on.
Excellent as always, although I disagree somewhat with what DB said about choosing the mission. You don't always get to choose. An excellent example that was mentioned was the Aurora theater shooting. You can think that you'll 5 rounds in a snubby will be all you need to provide protection from threats within immediate reach, but you can't preplan when you will need to make an immediate incapacitation shot on an armored moving target that's shooting a rifle at you from 85-feet away in a darkened room with bright back-lighting surrounded by screaming, running civilians.
Options give you choices.
I don’t think DB would argue that what someone chooses to carry in a Movie Theater is the same mission as a day at the Pool or Beach in swim trunks.
Need to get you on one of these in the near future, Kurt.
@@JEJAK5396 My argument is that you have much less control over your "mission" than you think you do. If you're out at the beach with your significant other, and she says she needs to stop at the Piggly Wiggly on the way home to buy some food, do you tell her you need to go home and change guns first?
You definitely have zero control over the conditions under which you will be required to conduct this mission. You won't get to choose the number of assailants, their weapons or level of training, how near or far they are from you, or their position relative to available cover.
Planning as if you have control over these things rarely leads to positive outcomes.
Just my 2c.
@@PrimaryAndSecondary I may be getting out of the traveling business for a while which should facilitate that.
I'm absolutely amped for this episode
UPDATE: I was 100% right to be amped for this episode
Our Police Chief left her duty pistol in the bathroom at a bar. She was drunk, on duty, and in uniform when she forgot her duty pistol in the bathroom. I am not sure if this is a training issue, a gear issue, or a simple result of alcoholism and nobody willing to arrest the Police Chief.
Another agency discovered the pistol, so the coverup was more difficult. The Deputy Chief did the coverup, so the FBI got involved. He resigned, instead of being federally indicted. Our Police Chief is mocked for all her mess ups, and the Mayor has told her to find a new job. He will not fire her, but she has to leave.
Personally, I think that it is important to always be sober when around guns. If a citizen did the same thing as our Police Chief, would they have been arrested?
What city was this?
You gotta do you. The world can be grey. If one is going to imbibe, keeping administrative gun handling to a minimum is probably a good idea. Judging mental disabilities seems quite holier than though...
Its going to depend on whatcty/state it happened in....a citizen might not be arrested, but they would most likely lose their concealed carry permit (in states that require one) .as many states restrict even being in bars with a pistol...and even states that allow it, you still arent allowed to be drunk with the pistol.
I wish Cowan was on to discuss weapon light usage with these guys, but fantastic nonetheless
Lol I was just thinking the same thing. I honestly have to question a couple of the philosophies being expressed here.
I would double "like" if I could!! Good info, good panel, thanks everyone!!
I have been a ccw for over 40 years and im so tired of tactical ninjas they dont know what a bad back and hip can do to your every day carry idea i just dont need or desire to carry 5 lbs of shit I now carry a sw 43 c in 22lr and 2 ten round speed strips of fed punch it has a clip draw and i can still put in a sticky holster for comfort if needed im not worried about anyone other than my wife and my self now im 75 and im only going to walk at a fast pace to get away from danger
Was about to start listening to this, then decided to save it for my graves shift tomorrow. Can't wait.
Thanks eye opening info for 2 year newbie with training and a new Staccato c2 duo ! Serious stuff we all need to learn.
What are some tricks of the trade to avoid detection when bump frisked?
Look up DB shooting adventures fb page he did an in depth review of methods
Thank you.
Glad you nerds are back
fantastic conversation.
2:10:44 Matt Prime, going dark
almost all iwb holster, especially the apendix style, do not have enough adjustability. most fcus on the gun being carried as low as possible, making the act of getting a good grip on it nearly impssible on the draw. moslter makers need to make adjustability the norm, since body shape and hand sizes differ so much.
I'm $300 in on holsters and still haven't found "the one" yet.... but I think I'm close? lol
I love when Fudds fuss about modern carry. Lol
Tickles me.
If you think these guys are Fudds, you are plain clueless.
Jesus. Literally stopped listening at 40:00. Just couldn’t listen anymore.
Yeah. not a cop. Just a guy. I try to keep it practical. Not going to carry a full size gun. EDC posts are usually crap. Who has pocket room for it all? A subcompact (when I can). A simple pocket knife, penlight always. Sometimes flashlights are in my daypack, that is basically my road business office. I live in suburban VA. Can't carry in DC or MD. Can't even have a firearm in possession open or in a car, in most cases. They know who has a permit when they run plates. Even clients in legal jurisdictions are anti-gun. Gotta be inconspicuous. At home I'm, out shopping, carrying a compact - a J frame or a Kahr. Only the bedside gun has a light. Even that bouncing on a white wall destroys night vision. Still have a 3 cell Maglight with an LED. Also a very bright compact LED rechargeable. I was initially scared of any possible printing. Loose shirts, dark colors, IWB that holds in tight. After a while, same stuff, but have come to realize that the general public is fairly unconscious. Everybody is obsessed with themselves and their phones. I have a very small .380 "polite" gun for when it has to be really hidden. I should probably get an ankle holster.
23:15 Hey I resemble that comment
Realistic Concealed Carry Considerations? The first hour and a half of this podcast has been about LE undercover and overseas operations. Not very realistic for me in a gun friendly state who can carry as big of a gun as I want and I can use kydex and I can have a light.
Not very realistic in my opinion.
So you didn't understand why these aspects were being brought up.
