I miss fishing in the winter. I'm now 70 and don't like the cold as much as I used to. Plus, my memory of spending the night on the lake because of a breakdown makes me leary. That is true for this time of year. Nobody on the water for help. So be careful. Thanks for sharing your great tips, and Happy New Year.
You gotta prep for the cold bud! They got heated socks and jackets now a days. But likenyou said-bobody is really around incase something happens. And at your age that is not safe.
Let’s get these dudes close to a mill in “24” I can’t picture any other yt channel that deserves it more the amount of work they do not to mention those buyer guides that takes insane amount of effort and time so here’s to “24” hope everyone has a safe and happy new yr
Winter is a Kayak fisherman's dream, but iced up baitcasters really suck, it's been super cold in the NC mountains but getting out as much as possible and haven't found a bite yet! Last winter they were destroying the blade bait and 3" spark shad, this winter I'm finding schools but they will not eat anything, pressing on here in the mountains but waiting till late in the morning when it gets close to 30, lol. Anyway thank you for the tips and advice, thanks to my girlfriend for the TW gift card I finally bought your tactical wake, can't wait to throw that giant!
Thank you for an excellent presentation for best January baits. Next month we’ll be thinking about pre-spawn. I’m really impressed with the football Ned head. Our rocky AZ lakes are thieves to my traditional Ned heads. In the interim, I resorted to using Neko rigs. Z-Man to my rescue. I had to smile a bit when you mentioned that Matt and you don’t get to fish together as much as in the past. Amazing how life nips away at our passions. Then we get old! Thank you for being the BEST UA-cam team in 2023. I look forward to more in ‘24! God bless your families and each of you. Happy New Year.
Never heard of burning deep Crankbaits, until I seen one of your videos. Aways taught, the opposite, slow down. First time I tried it caught a 5lb 9 0z,,then a 5lb10z,knocking slack in my line ,not monster fish, but big enough to get your attention!
It’s crazy how aggro fish will get when feeding in winter. I just got the Mattlures 7.5” shad in and laughed and asked what would bite it, then I showed her my PB swimbait fish of only 3.5 lbs that massacred the Savage Gear trout I got as a result of one of your swimbait videos.
We went out twice yesterday 4 hours in the am and 3 hours after the line was freezing up and the line guides were caking. fun times though now i have 6lb ice line on one of my 6' spinning rods 😀
Hi Tim , my son who is 13 and I have learned how to fish and about tackle through you and Matt’s channel so thank you for that . We have been adamantly fishing every other weekend for 2 1/2 years now . Unfortunately we cannot afford a boat yet so would it be possible when you mention your top baits for the month could you also point out which ones work from the banks ? We live in south Florida we’re the waters more shallow and full of vegetation so we generally have to use weedless rigs and setups.
Got a question… first love the channel and content, it’s so helpful for the weekend guy. My question is on the A-Rig, you guys got me to switch from the snap to a split ring on my hooked baits, but why don’t you add a swivel to your dummy baits? I just started and they seem to run smoother. Thanks.
Advice needed! What if your body of water has no lake points or key features? I fish the Ohio river in Louisville, KY area and do well with small mouth and spotted bass until the water temp gets below 50 degrees. Seems that everything disappears. Without electronics what do I need to look for to find these fish again. The current in water deeper than 15 feet makes it hard to hold a jig down. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also thanks Matt and Tim for all the wonderful and informative videos. You both have cost me a lot of money at tackle warehouse. lol cheers and happy new year everyone.
@tacticalbassin you guys should make a travel guide for spring and summer for the people who are traveling across the country for fishing and what to bring and what travel rods to get a whole breakdown😅
What's a good technique for a river in the winter that's highly pressured in all the other seasons and you can only bank fish? I've been trying to get into the winter weather fishing with no luck. But I'm not letting it discourage me I want to keep trying. Thank you for another great video and I hope you guys have a happy new year.
I'd try the megabass dark sleeper and/or Megabass sleeper craw near the bottom..they sink fast & can feel them very good in the current...Fairly weedless, too
Quick question kind of off subject Tim, fishing water temps that are near freezing, how do you keep things on your boat from breaking/freezing when temps dip overnight and you boat is garaged for the evening. I seem to never get all the water out of the my live well lines and almost every year I’m having to fix cracked/broken live well lines. I try everything I know to getting all the water out of my boat but seems it is impossible. What tips could you give me to help. Is your Garage heated? Do you have Special bilge heaters? If so what do you use brand wise? Sorry for the long post, but figured a reply may help others with the same problems. Thanks Tim!

You guys start throwing the flat sided mid range cranks in February? Bomber Long A ect.
Man I went out today and threw everything but the kitchen sink at them only because it wasn’t in the boat 😂😂 and didn’t catch a thing. Local lake fishes really odd and gets tons of pressure. Water was also littered with debris and murkier than usual. Will say only thing I didn’t try was a ned rig so I’ll have to give that a go on the next run out there
Always love the tips. Tactical Bassin is awesome and from my home region...BUT, it is literally impossible to tune the DD crank to run right. It is fine cranked slow. "Speed cranking" with that bait means spun out to me. Literally can never get them tuned.
@@tacticalbassin I better get some new pliers! I am able to successfully tune others, in the same way you reference, but not the DD. Will get a finesse pair of pliers!
No comment for a while but i figured id pick your brain. Have a trip to Santee Cooper early spring. Any advice? We went last year also the first week of april and the water temp was already 80 degrees 😢
I feel like that would be hard to design especially on such a small scale and for something to be used with such light tackle. Would probably be 3 wire at the most in my mind
that’s like asking for a BFS deps 250 lol. it’s a big presentation meant to mimic a large school of fish. kind of pointless to try and make that into a finesse lure. just throw a finesse under spin 😂
fat question, do you guys still throw huddlestons on chic and around the midwest? are they very viable at mimicking large baitfish like skipjack, herring, and gizzard shad in cold weather? the savage gear rtf in dirty silver looks alot like the large gizzard shad around where i live, but i dont think the action matches a shad well.
I've seen an A-rug technique where the 2 lower baits are replaced with weights to maintain bottom contact and drag the rig on bottom. Do you have any thoughts about that?

Gotta go somehow may as well be enjoying nature and catching fish

Might as well die fishing than on the couch!! 😅
Checkout the kayaks with a trolling motor... Simple and get you moving on the lake

Happy New Year TB family!🎆🍾🥂
Just got my Matt brown finesse jigs in from your link the other day. Fixn head out and its spitting snow in Knoxville,tn
I work night shift and y’all always make my last hour go by fast 👌🙌
Hey nothing better being at work powder coating and watching tacticalbassin videos hell yeah
No joke the links in the description have really helped over the years ❤

Didn’t think I’d run into an AZ native here this early but damn! What lakes are you usually at? I’m sticking to ponds for now, till I get a boat…
@@saint.clair3308 , not an AZ native; however, I fish from a kayak at Sag, Bartlett and Rosie.
Thanks for the education
Thanks!
🤙🏻Happy New Year buddy!🎣🎆🍾🥂
Solid Line up. Jigs have been the ticket for me here in Ohio!
Well done tim
Matt boat flipping a double digit just made my day

As usual great info. Thank you.
I like to fish a dropshot with a ned rig as the weight.
Thank you Tim 👏👏and I Love owning the pond this time of the year ❤️

I’ve been catching bass in Michigan late af this year with the fast crank bait action with a Berkley money badgers they are fire
Thanks for mentioning reel speeds and why! I love they DD crank. I have an Arig for over a year and still havent put it together.
Dang the draw down on the lake behind you is insane

It would be nice to see some pictures of your Sonar and Down scan when fishing those 🥶 🎣
I can't find anybody to go with this time of year, thats my biggest struggle 😂

I've been waiting on this top five video
Can you put under spans on an A rig

Try a drop shot with a small worm or a small swim a bait and throw it into the deep holes in the river or near jetty’s
I'd try the megabass dark sleeper and/or Megabass sleeper craw near the bottom..they sink fast & can feel them very good in the current...Fairly weedless, too

You need to clamp the eye (not the split ring) and torque it. Smaller pliers go a long way, but you can 100% tune it 👍

Fishing pickwick would yall stay near the main lake or on main lake or venture off into the back of yellow creek or bear creek?
Awesome video !!! Do you throw jerkbait at all ?

Please explain the flip flops in the winter... 😂
Dude I may have to get that A rig fr cuz California law is 3 hooks
Always stuff you and Matt do. I wish there was an Alabama rig for the BFS casters. Have you guys designed one yet?
I feel like that would be hard to design especially on such a small scale and for something to be used with such light tackle. Would probably be 3 wire at the most in my mind

I tried speed cranking and buried my Tactical crank into some sunken timber and lost it in the first hour🤬 i will say...i lined up my cast perfectly!
If you have 2 you have 1 and if you have 1 you have 0
@@devinwillis7787 lol, I now have 0....back to the tackle store!

What is your favorite way to splice mono to braid ?
When using the tactical DD, should I be using the 7'5 heavy SLX or 7'5 med/heavy SLX? And can I use the heavy for the a-rig as well
Does the speed cranking work in very muddy cold water?
Shhhh 🤫🤫🤫quit telling everyone the secrets!! 😅😅
What water temp do you put the boot tail down and switch to a wedge ?
I've seen an A-rug technique where the 2 lower baits are replaced with weights to maintain bottom contact and drag the rig on bottom. Do you have any thoughts about that?
The 1 thing that works for me in the winter is live worms. They stop biting artificials by mid November.
😂 There’s a pretty good reason why you have the lake to yourself in Jan.
Remember everyone it’s 100 casts for 1 fish lol
I was wondering I have the mini flex Alabama rig, but it seems like the dummy baits are always spinning. How can I keep them from swimming straight?
Mads Grosell, owner of Savage gear supports russian war in Ukraine. Shame on you.
Love watching this channel ❤️
