- What? ANOTHER video with the new Ford Fiesta ST?! That's right guys, I've got one more video with said car, and in this video I decided to get the opinion of someone I know that happens to own a Mk7 ST. Will he love it or hate it though? Watch to find out.

I have a new ST-3 and I really like the looks. The ST-Line is a handsome car so I don’t have a problem with the ST looking similar. I prefer the ST having slightly subtle styling for a hot hatch. The nice wheels and red callipers make it look a bit special.

I love this video, well done. I've got a 2018 ST-line in Magnetic and I love it.
The quality of the interior and the ride quality is so much better than the old fiesta.
Basically everything is an upgrade.
I myself like the rear end of the MK7 more, but overall the MK8 is a way more mature car in my opinion.
The new led lights on the MK8 make it look very luxurious.
I can't really comment on the engine reliability yet, but the new 1.0 100ps ecoboost I am running has had misfires while idling and driving while cold.
I have a feeling the engine runs very lean. Going to try and use different octanes petrol and see if it changes anything.
Don't know if it's common with this engine, but I plan on going to the dealer to let them check up on it.
All these new engines get crumbled so much because of emission rules and stuff, better to remap them from the moment you buy it.

To bad I can’t get one in the States. Had a Quaife put in my 16 ST to try to compensate. Eco boost is not unreliable in my opinion, the Focus RS had issues. The earlier Fiestas also had a disappearing coolant issue but I think both of those have been addressed now.
I agree with the part about the st line. Problem is the st line has enough cosmetic changes so it makes it harder for the st to look different without going over the top. What I don’t like about this generation is the rear looks like a mini mpv from the rear

I have recently ordered a Hyundai i30 n which I know you really liked . Wish I'd test driven one of these little beauties now . This is a lot of car for the money .

the previous one looks more sporty and aggressive than the new one. the new Fiesta ST are more nicer than the prevous.

Could a wavetrec LSD & Stage 2 software and hardware reach numbers and feel of an MK8? I'm only asking because over here in the USA, we will not be able to get the MK8. Ford has gotten ridden of all of the cars since the USA buyer market is all Trucks and SUVs.
It will do to a degree, but the Mk8 has a more compliant ride than the Mk7, so it's not just about the power and grip. To be honest, a stage 2 would probably give more power than the Mk8 so that's something - thanks for watching Joe.
I believe the st 2 comes with b&o play but no sat nav, so you have to pay extra for satnav
Whereas st3 comes with sat nav and no b&o play.
Sat nav upgrade on st 2 is £300
Speaker upgrade on st 3 is £350

It’s less sprung and more damped, it is less engaging though. Less satisfying to rev to the max. Mpg is pure shit, even thought turns off a cylinder below 4500 rpm in normal mode
Not convinced about the reliability of the 3 cylinder engine. Ford (eventually!) replaced the engine in my mk7 ST after it blew a hole in the engine block at 46k miles and 6 months outside the warranty expired. Interesting, there's a recall out for the engine in my model year as its prone to overheating I believe. I'll be keeping my 5 year old ST because of the new engine, may buy the new version at some point, but the poor experience with Ford and their dealers has made me wary.
Cheers for the review by the way, there are a lot of us mk7 owners wondering if the new one is any good.

Yeah, I've heard a few owners grumble about their experiences with dealers following engine problems, which is a pity as the fanbase is extremely loyal, therefore you'd want to do everything possible to keep them onside. A lot of people are concerned about the reliability of the 1.5 engine, so it'll be interesting to see how it copes over time.

Not fussed about looks. Will wait and see what power if any can be tuned out of that pokey engine. Not a significant enough step up for me to trade from my mk7
Of course there will be tuning haha someone is bound to do it. I've got around 165-170bhp out of my little red edition ecoboost with Revo stage 1 and some supporting mods. So would love to see what they can do with this unreal engine!

Not much of a step up apart from better styling, vastly improved interior, handling, stereo, power, technology, fuel consumption and torque. Apart from that not much at all.
Good video mate, personally not a fan at all of the mk8 st, especially the styling! Doesn’t scream hot hatch to me at all🤷♂️
Exhausted I do agree that the styling is all opinion but I think for the most of people the design will start to grow on them and I also think that ford will make small improvements to have more sporty styling. But i too am not to huge of a fan of the rear
Funny how people in Europe talk about how the fiesta st is everywhere. Here in the states I have a Fiesta ST and I’ve seen maybe 2 max the entire year so far. Pretty rare sight here for sure, especially in the blue color I have.
The Mk7s are fantastic value on the used car market in the UK which is great, but the downside is that they're common as muck. Having said that, I'd still have one if I had the money for a decent one. Thanks for watching Mark.
I really hate seeing the MK-8 as it just teases me and reminds me of how we don’t get the good stuff in the states. It’s not Fords fault, they just don’t sell well here especially since almost nobody drive a manual over here anymore. I would love if Ford would sell the MK-8 on a special order basis. This video has me looking at LSD’s now. I’d rather do that’s then any other power mod hands down.
Really nice video lads. Told it how it was. I have to say I didn't like the mk8 when it was announced but having test driven it twice it is Defo growing on me. However for now I will stick to my mk7 which I still love. Where you guys based?

Really informative video. I am a Mk7 ST2 owner and really love my current car. I'm planning to change my car sometime in the first half of 2019 before mine get's too old and looses too much value. My short list for replacements is currently either a MK8 ST2 or 3 or a Mini Cooper S 2 litre petrol. I drove a friends year old Cooper S and really liked it but it's a fun car rather than a serious car i think. The Fiesta ST seems a more serious hot hatch. I have concerns about the appearance of the MK 8 ST though. I hate the wheels and the rear lights. Change both of those and i would probably love it. I like the interior of the MK8 though. I need to test drive a Mk 8 to decide. Keep up the good work with the video's :-)

The new car is better in pretty much all areas. Interior massively! I think it's just a little expensive really. A fully loaded st3 is 25 grand. That's same money as it's bigger brother with more power/practicality/refinement and comfort. Too much for a fiesta I feel
I can see where you're coming from, but are you comparing that to a Focus ST-1 or a fully loaded Focus ST-3? I feel the latter would make for a fairer comparison. Thanks for watching John.
You can pick up a mk3 focus rs for £29k if you're lucky, not too much more!!
@@CarObsession focus st3 is 26k according to Google but an st2 is under 24k. I'm a big fan of the fiesta st don't get me wrong but it's expensive. Really the fiesta st1 is no good no lsd or anything so you have to get at least the st2. Luckily 25k is book price and ford do allow wiggle room so be alot cheaper when actually buying one. Cool video tho
@@johnjackson12 The ST2 and ST3 don't have the LSD either - it's still an optional extra. ST2 is more reasonable as it starts from £19,995.
@@CarObsession that's just well tight lol! 20k tho still the same price as the mk1 focus rs which came with alot of bespoke parts and one of the best chassis of the day. Although ford did loose 4k on every single one haha doubt they will make that mistake again
Looks too placid,do you think Ford could not of given more power to the M7,I mean they were ok with warranting stage 1 mountune from the start,M7 could of left the factory with 230bhp IMO!

I think the new one looks better in everyway except the rear.
well, the rear will mostly be seen by the ones you are overtaking, so they will be that more irritating..right..? lol
@@cobra9128yeah but at some point you have to put something in the boot and see that boring rear end lol. My main worry is the 3 cylinder engine been so many going wrong, that I'm worried it would take the punishment over the years.
I get a good laugh at it when people say the old ST rear end looks more "aggressive". The mk7 rear end looks like the rear end of a fat lady bug. The mk8 is muuuch more attractive!

I feel exactly the same mate and I own the mk7! Never been a big fan of the rear at all. Definitely considering one of the new ST's man. Had a go in one the other day they're just unreal, no other word to describe it.

Really boring looking ST,it's a big shame as Ford used to make there XR2 styling really stand out ,you really knew what it was !I really don't like the screen just slapped on the dashboard,it's like Ford put it there as a after thought!
Pepper pot alloys 😍 was thinking about the black xr3i my parents had when i was young i am really impressed with this morden rords thoe there really pleasant to drive and these fiestas have more leg room then the focus
Over priced no way its the performance bargain nothing comes close at this price point
Not much quicker than the mk7, exterior styling is awful bad front end nasty wheels inside ls nice and sounds good though. Plus over priced.
The new one looks better in 2-3 years you Can see the mk7 looks really old and the mk8 looks better
