I actually remember watching "The World's First Predators." I remember it portraying a litteral race between a human, a cockroach, and a snail as stand ins for the competing lines of predation, between vertebrates, arthropods, and cephalopods. Also it used the phrases mega bugs and super snails.
I remember watching the Killer Dinosaurs one on DVD, with the surprising outcomes being the Triceratops killing the Tyrannosaurus, and the pair of Velociraptors killing a young ankylosaurid, with it either being Saichania or Talarurus since there isn't a name given to it, although the version I had was called "Predator Dinosaurs", with it being released in 2009 with the first part involving Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus, while the second included Velociraptor, Protoceratops, the unnamed ankylosaurid, and Tarbosaurus, though when I was looking for results about the Predator X was called "Xtinction Predator X", with the Amazon product only having 18 copies left in stock

But I would give a thing for that Nat Geo Dinosaur Documentary to be released on DVD in America after all these years.

The description of "The World's First Predators" sounds just like a Discovery Channel VHS I have, except it's titled "Origins: Battle for the Planet." I know a lot of these documentaries go by alternate titles, but regardless of title, I know this one quite well, as I watched it all the time as a kid, and I still have it.

Clips from "Dinosaurs on Earth" are also shown in the National Geographic edutainment film "Really Wild Animals: Dinosaurs and Other Creature Features" which is fully available on UA-cam and on DVD! The 2D-animated clips feature in the background around the 14-minute mark for a sort of "Pop Quiz" segment, again at around the 16-minute mark, very quickly at the 22-minute mark and finally (the best part) at the 24/25-minute mark when paleontologist Robert Bakker is discussing the stabbing claw of the modern cassowary bird and relating it to a Utahraptor, and we see two Utahraptors attacking an iguanodontid of some kind. The clips show: - A Dilophosaurus drinking water during the night and later running. - A running Triceratops - A Tyrannosaurus running in profile before approaching the camera. - A presumed troodontid of some kind hunting and killing a small mammal - A herd of brachiosaurs moving through an open area - And finally, toe Utahraptors viewing an Iguanodon before attacking it. When I was I kid and had that DVD I was OBSESSED with those segments and also wondered if they were specially made for my DVD or from something else. The Tyrannosaurus in the thumbnail of this video was the reason I clicked on it as soon as I saw it. I'd recognize it anywhere. One thing though: I'm not sure how lost the actual animated segments are, because all of the screenshots you showed are from the same clips that are featured in "Really Wild Animals" and the clips cut off very suddenly in that documentary. And considering the runtime is only 25 minutes, I suspect that those short clips might be the only original animation in it, with the rest of the documentary maybe being the animatronics or live-action segments. I don't actually know but that's what I suspect. If you do another "Lost Paleo Media"-video, make sure to check out the "Really Wild Animals" documentary to get a look at the really great animation from those animated segments. Just to let people know that there is indeed a way to see them that's freely available!
OMG, I grew up watching a lot of those DVDs! Its surprising to know that the 2D animations were reused from another NG documentary. My favourite clip has to be the Dilophosaurus one, the shot where it's framed against the full moon I remember being very striking.

If I may give you a suggestion for a video: Planet Of The Dinosaurs and its spiritual successor 65. Planet of the dinosaurs is a pretty interesting lost world concept that, while not the best quality movie, still sounds like it would make an interesting analysis. And 65... is 65
Planet of Dinosaurs is a fascinating look at Stephen Czerkas' early dinosaur reconstructions before he would go on to become the foremost paleosculptor of the 1980s- 90s. Unfortunately he is best remembered today for his role in the Archaeoraptor hoax.
I have some memories of watching the Triassic Giant documentary when I was very young, it aired during the Dinosaur & Mega Beasts week the Discovery Channel did. I think I had it recorded on VHS however the VHS was thrown away.

The Doyle estate is pretty infamous for abusing copyright of Arthur Conan Doyle's works even if they are in the public domain. I think this mostly just applies to Sherlock Holmes but would not be surprised if they found some loophole and made the book go bye-bye.
Interesting. Was there any known tension between Doyle's estate and Tim Haines and/or his associates? Because there have been other examples of book continuations to the original novel that seem to have bypassed any sort of copyright problems, though I don't fully know the story behind their publications
My time to shine! I practically lived on the BBC Prehistoric Life page and played nearly every game mulitple times. Here is what I remember about The Caveman Challenge: Level 1: Australopithecus afarensis. This was a trivia game about bipedalism. Afterwards youd recieve a fact file and an image of Lucy (from the show) Level 2: Paranthropus. This was a top down game where you had to navigate around rocks and eat things (carcasses, bones, termites, plants) to fill up your "brain" meter before time ran out. Afterwards you'd get a fact file and image of Paranthropus. Level 3: Homo ergaster. This was a footprint matching game. Left side footprint, right side animal that made them. Fact file and Homo ergaster. Level 4: Homo erects. You had to make a fire at the right time at night as animals approach. You only had limited fire and the fire only lasted a bit. Some were antelopes and would run away. Others were dangerous (cats, moose, etc.) that would hurt you if you didn't use the fire. Fact file and Homo erectus. Level 5: Homo heidelbergensis. The game you talked about is a matching game with stone tool and item used for it. Fact file and Homo heidelbergensis. Level 6: Neanderthal. This one was a "hunting" game where you had to pick a location on the map to try to find a mammoth to hunt. Not much to it. Really just a point and click. Fact file and Neanderthal. Level 7: Homo sapiens. You are given a cave drawing to memorize. Then you get drawn segments that you have to rearrange to fit that drawing. Fact file and Homo sapiens. End: They give you a percentage of how well you survived based on how well you did in the game. I loved this game and all the other flash games on that website. I'm really sad that all of them are pretty much lost media.
I remember watching "World's First Predator" & those lost episodes of Paleoworld. I can't remember which channel First Predator aired, but I do remember reruns of Paleoworld airing on Discovery Channel's sister channel Discovery Science. Reruns would air as far as late as the early 2010s here in Australia. Back to First Predator, that old fourm post basically sums the First Predator perfectly. I do remember some of those moments, but only vaguely. I can remember the a small fish-like vertebrae hiding from predators & the ending with a giant sentient insect & zooming out to reveal it was living in an apartment in a city with buildings that looked like giant termite mounds. The ending was like something out of a Men in Black movie.

Cruel Eden sounds a teensy tiny bit inspired by the Australian 90s Adventure Show The Lost World. In that series, Malone was in the Great War and the things he went through haunted him *later* when he goes on the Challenger Expedition. And just like in that plot synopsis, Malone was hanging out with two British soldiers.

The cover art on those eBay listings does not represent what is actually being sold. If you ask any of those sellers if the actual DVD cover matches the listing, they will say it does not, and it is actually another release of “The Truth About Killer Dinosaurs”.
walking with beasts had some really weird games, the pc game was a isometric vehicle based rpg based around time travel with a focus on exploration and item management, don't think it was ever released digitally or rereleased though.
Hey there Diego!, i do remember a somewhat-related documentary with Nige Marven about the Loch Ness Monster, it featured several shots of Nessie in CGI, Nigel with kids near the loch, a scene with Nigel witha beached plesiosaurus and how the beached animaldecated, there was a section about paraedolias and with the last scene whocasing a Plesiosaurus appeared from the water surface (only the head outside)and then following more plesiosaurus doing the exact same thing, this part was on CGI.
i think I saw that one, 'first predators' thing. Was pretty interesting. And yes... it WAS strange with the 'transition' scenes with the bald man looking at the beetle and snail.
I'm not sure about the Predator Dinosaurs DVD. BBC released another DVD in 2013 with the same title and logo, but it contained both episodes for Truth About Killer Dinosaurs (coincidently). The only evidence I can find for Predator X is some stock-photos. Some of the eBay listings for the TAKD release uses the Predator X description. Maybe it was going to include Predator X at one point but they changed it to TAKD for the final release. Anyway, this video was a big help, I'm working on adding dinosaur documentaries to the dinosaurmovies tumblr and I have passed over several of these just due to a lack of information.
BBC website used to have a secret third episode of "Truth About Killer Dinosaurs" called "Baryonyx Mystery". It was in a choose your own adventure form, and when combined was significantly shorter that normal episodes, according to my memories, about 27-37 minutes long. "Planet Dinosaur" used to have a companion series for younger audience called "Planet Dinosaur Files". It's longer special episode is around, but 6 shorter normal episodes seem to be lost. There was also a BBC documentary "Rex Appeal" released alongside "Planet Dinosaur" as well. I used to have all of these + "Triassic Giant" on a external hard drive, but it unfortunately died a couple of years ago with my entire collection of documentaries. Paleoworld's "Valley of Venom" is available as "Mundo Paleolitico". Obviously, not in English, but at least it's something.
Regarding Dino Wars/Face Off, I do recall seeing the T-Rex vs Triceratops one, or I could be thinking of a different documentary that played that scenario. Basically, there were three outcomes: 1) if the Triceratops stood its ground, it'd likely win, 2) if the Triceratops tried to flee, it'd lose because it exposed its weak spot which was the part behind the frill, and 3) they kill each other. That last outcome might be me remembering a different documentary, but basically the people ran the tests and were heavy on the idea of what the triceratops would do would determine the outcome. But I kind of recall them taking a 'Deadliest Warrior' approach on the matter where you had the Pro T-Rex and the Pro-Triceratops, with early cgi effects and then a computer running the simulator/odds.

I have fragmentary memories of a series on Discovery in the mid-1990's, called something like "Jurassica". In particular, one episode had Robert Bakker draw a life-scale Argentinosaurus on a building wall in, what I think, looked like charcoal. I think there were quite a few episodes in this series, but, I only had this one, recorded on a VHS tape.
"Jurassica" included episodes of both Paleoworld and a series known as "When Dinosaurs Ruled", which has 6 episodes (5 + special, to be exact), and it indeed had a scene like that, as far as I remember.

I'm wondering if anyone knows about a cartoon short on Nickelodeon possibly cartoon network during the mid 90's about a caveman named egghead who tries to steal a trex egg and invents the sport of golf. Part of me thinks I'm crazy but I remember it so well.
I remember watching Really Wild Animals as a kid, specifically the dinosaur special that used the 2D animations from Dinosaurs on Earth (since Really Wild Animals uses whatever's in the National Geographic film storages) and I always wondered where they and the stop motion dinosaurs from Messages in Stone came from I think Messages in Stone was also used in the dinosaur episode in Eyewitness along with other various dinosaur media EDIT: Glad to see others recognizing the animated clips from Really Wild Animals
Probably a long shot but the telepathic meteor theory sounds like something that I possibly saw in a book called the rough guide to unexplained phenomena by Bob Richard and John Mitchell. It’s been awhile (over a decade) since I’ve read it but considering how many out there theories and stories it covered its potentially from there. I’d also check complications of fate and fortean magazines , I remember some wild dinosaur stuff from those.
To answer my own question, my favorite dino is Borealopelta. He (general pronoun) is just so cute, reminds me of Sandshrew, officially had my favorite natural color scheme, and was posed like an enormous, sleeping, scaley, puppy! Also to find lost media relating to dinosaurs is really cool. I love lost media, and finding lost media.
I recall playing the Caveman game as a kid along with the other Walking With games From what I recall the Caveman game had you starting off as one of the earlier varieties and completing each mini game evolved you further and further the Caveman line I can't recall more then that but I know it was a simple fun game
hey on goodreads you can find a review of Cruel Eden it was made on February 29, 2020 by an author called Linda the review reads the following, Cruel Eden has a great premise, but this is a book that cries out for a good editor, and I really do hate making that comment. At times, the writing shows great promise, but it's very difficult to become engaged in the protagonists' stories because their point of view is quite distant, and we bounce from one situation to another, from one character to another, with no strong uniting thread. Speaking as an editor, I think this book would be excellent if the author slowed down, focused on the protagonists, chopped out a lot of side characters, and tidied up the plot progression. Great cover, by the way -- that is what initially attracted me to the book.
i MIGHT have watched the Triassic Ginar doc, maybe im wrong, but i do remember this: 1- the Ichthyo was HUGE nad near a dark fray rock river and there was a team digging it. 2- idk if this is even remembered by some or if it was another documentary, but there was a segment about a local Icthyosaur-inspired beer called "Ichthyosaur beer", there was a local man in that tavern with a beer car of that exact beer and alongside it, scenenes taken in another desert-y place in which there was a open-air Ichthyosaur skeleton dig on display.

Not sure if this counts as lost media but the original script by Walon Green for Dinosaur- back when Paul Verhoeven and Phil Tippett were going to direct it. I wonder if that will ever see the light of day. There are a few pictures of storyboards from it in Phil Tippetts book but apart from that, nothing. I’d love for that screen play to leak online
Out of everything you mentioned, I only remember Predator X. Enjoyed it too. Learning about a truly massive Leopluridae was exciting and terrifying. 😊 But now we have an Ichthyotitan which was even bigger and it bums me out. 😮💨

Could "World First Predators" be another name for "Origins - Battle for the Planet"? Both are from the early 2000s and seem to cover the same subject matter and taxa. Clips from Origins are still widely viewable on several platforms (inc. UA-cam) if anyone can compare them.
I wouldn't rule it out as a possibility. It's pretty common for documentaries to have alternate titles when they air in other countries, so who knows? Maybe they're the same thing
There is a strange example of lost paleo media I can think of. It's a creationist documentary (though I'm using that term loosely) called "Footprints in Stone". It was released in 1973 and is about the alleged human footprints alongside the dinosaur footprints in Glen Rose, Texas. After the "man tracks" were thoroughly debunked in the 80s, the film was apparently pulled from distribution. I have been unable to find it online, and if there are any surviving copies they are probably locked away in archives. I did find a review of it published in 2008 for the National Center for Science Education, so it's possible they have a copy, though I can't be certain. Edit: I checked the NCSE website again, and that review was actually published in 1981. 2008 was just when it was archived on the site.
I distinctly remember watching Predator X on UA-cam ages ago... but then, I've had several recent experiences that drive home how unreliable memory can be. So that's gonna bug me all week.
I remember playing a caveman challange on BBC website, but not much more about it except for the matching game. I believe there were game levels corresponding to different stages of human evolution and Megaloceros hunting was one of the challanges, but I may be confusing it with some other game.
I wonder if Monsters Resurrected is connected to Dino Wars. The only thing I saw of that was a Spino episode where they built a machine version of its arm and used it to crush a truck.
As far as I can tell, the second season of Prehistoric Planet (the discovery kids re-edit of WwD and WwB) has not been released on any form of home video. The only scraps of it I could find are the opening narration and various screenshots. Only season 1 has been released and now that there’s the Apple TV series, I worry it’ll get buried into obscurity
I believe I saw the World's First Predators on one of Discovery's channels in early 2003. Part of why it's lost is there was a lot of that bald guy, who wore only a small pair of black shorts. The shots of him seemed awkwardly homoerotic and unintentionally silly
I watched Triassic giant in 2009, the documentary consisted of a a lot of footage documenting the excavation and recovery of the fossil and how they transported it back out of the wilderness. It was a while ago so I can remember a few scenes on of them being a scene of one of the paleontologist with a rifle slung over his right shoulder scaring off a bear while the narrator goes on about the dangers of bears and another being the scene where the fossil is covered in plaster and is lifted from the surrounding rock I remember it all so had the standard 3D reconstruction of the fossil that was so ubiquitous of paleo documentaries of the time
Anyone remember an Animal Planet or Discovery Channel special featuring Nigel Marvel I believe. I remember him interacting with various prehistoric creatures, mostly remember a sequence of a sarcosuchus running onto a golf course, people running away and Nigel was eaten. Have no recollection of any of the context, but I never forgot that sequence. Had to be around 2001-2004.

Also more flash games from the BBC Prehistoric Life page. Skeleton jigsaw. 4 or so skeletons that you had to fit together with a timer. All the skeletons were from Prehistoric Beasts (Gastornis, Mammoth, Basilosaurus, and I think Australopithecus?). Who dung it? Matching game with coprolites and animals that you had to guess which made the poop. Fact or Fiction (Maybe Myth or something). They would give you various stories that were either true or false and you'd have to guess. Some included the Piltdown man hoax as well as the BBC April Fool's prank of the "spagetti trees". There was a Baryonyx game that I never got to work, same as the 3D Jurassic game. Neither would work on my computer/the sites were down.

i wonder if anyone here is familiar with a british children's book from the late 1970's with a page about prehistoric elephants, in which there was a mammoth using a hair-dryer on it's fur. i still have some pages left, but lost the covers many years ago. on the subject of "cruel eden"i wouldn't be saurprised if the plot involved weaponized dinosaurs in ww1, with the british characters trying to infiltrate a castle-wolfenstein operation by the germans, with dinosaurs. the operation would be traced to a location in the plateau, that has a macguffin not unlike the evolutionary secret in the novel "the land that time forgot"by burroughs. with the recent challenger revival, the novella ïsland of terror"by william meikle, hints at something similar, and more clearly so öut of the depths"in the challenger anthology "lost worlds, found places".

I’m still hopping for some Mention of the Christian slater dub of Walking with beasts for kids known as Prehistoric planet. While the Walking with Dinosaurs dub by Ben stiller is available on DVD there is no trace of the beasts dub left outside of some screenshots.

The description of "The World's First Predators" sounds just like a Discovery Channel VHS I have, except it's titled "Origins: Battle for the Planet." I know a lot of these documentaries go by alternate titles, but regardless of title, I know this one quite well, as I watched it all the time as a kid, and I still have it.
You should see about digitizing it and sending it into the internet archive.

Clips from "Dinosaurs on Earth" are also shown in the National Geographic edutainment film "Really Wild Animals: Dinosaurs and Other Creature Features" which is fully available on UA-cam and on DVD! The 2D-animated clips feature in the background around the 14-minute mark for a sort of "Pop Quiz" segment, again at around the 16-minute mark, very quickly at the 22-minute mark and finally (the best part) at the 24/25-minute mark when paleontologist Robert Bakker is discussing the stabbing claw of the modern cassowary bird and relating it to a Utahraptor, and we see two Utahraptors attacking an iguanodontid of some kind.
The clips show:
- A Dilophosaurus drinking water during the night and later running.
- A running Triceratops
- A Tyrannosaurus running in profile before approaching the camera.
- A presumed troodontid of some kind hunting and killing a small mammal
- A herd of brachiosaurs moving through an open area
- And finally, toe Utahraptors viewing an Iguanodon before attacking it.
When I was I kid and had that DVD I was OBSESSED with those segments and also wondered if they were specially made for my DVD or from something else. The Tyrannosaurus in the thumbnail of this video was the reason I clicked on it as soon as I saw it. I'd recognize it anywhere.
One thing though: I'm not sure how lost the actual animated segments are, because all of the screenshots you showed are from the same clips that are featured in "Really Wild Animals" and the clips cut off very suddenly in that documentary. And considering the runtime is only 25 minutes, I suspect that those short clips might be the only original animation in it, with the rest of the documentary maybe being the animatronics or live-action segments. I don't actually know but that's what I suspect.
If you do another "Lost Paleo Media"-video, make sure to check out the "Really Wild Animals" documentary to get a look at the really great animation from those animated segments. Just to let people know that there is indeed a way to see them that's freely available!

OMG, I grew up watching a lot of those DVDs! Its surprising to know that the 2D animations were reused from another NG documentary. My favourite clip has to be the Dilophosaurus one, the shot where it's framed against the full moon I remember being very striking.

If I may give you a suggestion for a video: Planet Of The Dinosaurs and its spiritual successor 65. Planet of the dinosaurs is a pretty interesting lost world concept that, while not the best quality movie, still sounds like it would make an interesting analysis. And 65... is 65
Planet of Dinosaurs is a fascinating look at Stephen Czerkas' early dinosaur reconstructions before he would go on to become the foremost paleosculptor of the 1980s- 90s. Unfortunately he is best remembered today for his role in the Archaeoraptor hoax.
I have some memories of watching the Triassic Giant documentary when I was very young, it aired during the Dinosaur & Mega Beasts week the Discovery Channel did. I think I had it recorded on VHS however the VHS was thrown away.

The Doyle estate is pretty infamous for abusing copyright of Arthur Conan Doyle's works even if they are in the public domain. I think this mostly just applies to Sherlock Holmes but would not be surprised if they found some loophole and made the book go bye-bye.
Interesting. Was there any known tension between Doyle's estate and Tim Haines and/or his associates? Because there have been other examples of book continuations to the original novel that seem to have bypassed any sort of copyright problems, though I don't fully know the story behind their publications

My time to shine! I practically lived on the BBC Prehistoric Life page and played nearly every game mulitple times. Here is what I remember about The Caveman Challenge:
Level 1: Australopithecus afarensis. This was a trivia game about bipedalism. Afterwards youd recieve a fact file and an image of Lucy (from the show)
Level 2: Paranthropus. This was a top down game where you had to navigate around rocks and eat things (carcasses, bones, termites, plants) to fill up your "brain" meter before time ran out. Afterwards you'd get a fact file and image of Paranthropus.
Level 3: Homo ergaster. This was a footprint matching game. Left side footprint, right side animal that made them. Fact file and Homo ergaster.
Level 4: Homo erects. You had to make a fire at the right time at night as animals approach. You only had limited fire and the fire only lasted a bit. Some were antelopes and would run away. Others were dangerous (cats, moose, etc.) that would hurt you if you didn't use the fire. Fact file and Homo erectus.
Level 5: Homo heidelbergensis. The game you talked about is a matching game with stone tool and item used for it. Fact file and Homo heidelbergensis.
Level 6: Neanderthal. This one was a "hunting" game where you had to pick a location on the map to try to find a mammoth to hunt. Not much to it. Really just a point and click. Fact file and Neanderthal.
Level 7: Homo sapiens. You are given a cave drawing to memorize. Then you get drawn segments that you have to rearrange to fit that drawing. Fact file and Homo sapiens.
End: They give you a percentage of how well you survived based on how well you did in the game.
I loved this game and all the other flash games on that website. I'm really sad that all of them are pretty much lost media.

I remember watching "World's First Predator" & those lost episodes of Paleoworld. I can't remember which channel First Predator aired, but I do remember reruns of Paleoworld airing on Discovery Channel's sister channel Discovery Science. Reruns would air as far as late as the early 2010s here in Australia. Back to First Predator, that old fourm post basically sums the First Predator perfectly. I do remember some of those moments, but only vaguely. I can remember the a small fish-like vertebrae hiding from predators & the ending with a giant sentient insect & zooming out to reveal it was living in an apartment in a city with buildings that looked like giant termite mounds. The ending was like something out of a Men in Black movie.

Cruel Eden sounds a teensy tiny bit inspired by the Australian 90s Adventure Show The Lost World.
In that series, Malone was in the Great War and the things he went through haunted him *later* when he goes on the Challenger Expedition.
And just like in that plot synopsis, Malone was hanging out with two British soldiers.

The cover art on those eBay listings does not represent what is actually being sold. If you ask any of those sellers if the actual DVD cover matches the listing, they will say it does not, and it is actually another release of “The Truth About Killer Dinosaurs”.

walking with beasts had some really weird games, the pc game was a isometric vehicle based rpg based around time travel with a focus on exploration and item management, don't think it was ever released digitally or rereleased though.
Hey there Diego!, i do remember a somewhat-related documentary with Nige Marven about the Loch Ness Monster, it featured several shots of Nessie in CGI, Nigel with kids near the loch, a scene with Nigel witha beached plesiosaurus and how the beached animaldecated, there was a section about paraedolias and with the last scene whocasing a Plesiosaurus appeared from the water surface (only the head outside)and then following more plesiosaurus doing the exact same thing, this part was on CGI.
i think I saw that one, 'first predators' thing. Was pretty interesting. And yes... it WAS strange with the 'transition' scenes with the bald man looking at the beetle and snail.
I'm not sure about the Predator Dinosaurs DVD. BBC released another DVD in 2013 with the same title and logo, but it contained both episodes for Truth About Killer Dinosaurs (coincidently). The only evidence I can find for Predator X is some stock-photos. Some of the eBay listings for the TAKD release uses the Predator X description. Maybe it was going to include Predator X at one point but they changed it to TAKD for the final release. Anyway, this video was a big help, I'm working on adding dinosaur documentaries to the dinosaurmovies tumblr and I have passed over several of these just due to a lack of information.
BBC website used to have a secret third episode of "Truth About Killer Dinosaurs" called "Baryonyx Mystery". It was in a choose your own adventure form, and when combined was significantly shorter that normal episodes, according to my memories, about 27-37 minutes long.
"Planet Dinosaur" used to have a companion series for younger audience called "Planet Dinosaur Files". It's longer special episode is around, but 6 shorter normal episodes seem to be lost.
There was also a BBC documentary "Rex Appeal" released alongside "Planet Dinosaur" as well.
I used to have all of these + "Triassic Giant" on a external hard drive, but it unfortunately died a couple of years ago with my entire collection of documentaries.
Paleoworld's "Valley of Venom" is available as "Mundo Paleolitico". Obviously, not in English, but at least it's something.

Regarding Dino Wars/Face Off, I do recall seeing the T-Rex vs Triceratops one, or I could be thinking of a different documentary that played that scenario. Basically, there were three outcomes: 1) if the Triceratops stood its ground, it'd likely win, 2) if the Triceratops tried to flee, it'd lose because it exposed its weak spot which was the part behind the frill, and 3) they kill each other. That last outcome might be me remembering a different documentary, but basically the people ran the tests and were heavy on the idea of what the triceratops would do would determine the outcome. But I kind of recall them taking a 'Deadliest Warrior' approach on the matter where you had the Pro T-Rex and the Pro-Triceratops, with early cgi effects and then a computer running the simulator/odds.
I remember Predator X, it was one of the last prehistoric documentaries that I saw before I enlisted.

I have fragmentary memories of a series on Discovery in the mid-1990's, called something like "Jurassica". In particular, one episode had Robert Bakker draw a life-scale Argentinosaurus on a building wall in, what I think, looked like charcoal. I think there were quite a few episodes in this series, but, I only had this one, recorded on a VHS tape.
"Jurassica" included episodes of both Paleoworld and a series known as "When Dinosaurs Ruled", which has 6 episodes (5 + special, to be exact), and it indeed had a scene like that, as far as I remember.

I remember watching Really Wild Animals as a kid, specifically the dinosaur special that used the 2D animations from Dinosaurs on Earth (since Really Wild Animals uses whatever's in the National Geographic film storages) and I always wondered where they and the stop motion dinosaurs from Messages in Stone came from

Probably a long shot but the telepathic meteor theory sounds like something that I possibly saw in a book called the rough guide to unexplained phenomena by Bob Richard and John Mitchell. It’s been awhile (over a decade) since I’ve read it but considering how many out there theories and stories it covered its potentially from there. I’d also check complications of fate and fortean magazines , I remember some wild dinosaur stuff from those.

hey on goodreads you can find a review of Cruel Eden it was made on February 29, 2020 by an author called Linda the review reads the following, Cruel Eden has a great premise, but this is a book that cries out for a good editor, and I really do hate making that comment. At times, the writing shows great promise, but it's very difficult to become engaged in the protagonists' stories because their point of view is quite distant, and we bounce from one situation to another, from one character to another, with no strong uniting thread. Speaking as an editor, I think this book would be excellent if the author slowed down, focused on the protagonists, chopped out a lot of side characters, and tidied up the plot progression. Great cover, by the way -- that is what initially attracted me to the book.
i MIGHT have watched the Triassic Ginar doc, maybe im wrong, but i do remember this:
1- the Ichthyo was HUGE nad near a dark fray rock river and there was a team digging it.
2- idk if this is even remembered by some or if it was another documentary, but there was a segment about a local Icthyosaur-inspired beer called "Ichthyosaur beer", there was a local man in that tavern with a beer car of that exact beer and alongside it, scenenes taken in another desert-y place in which there was a open-air Ichthyosaur skeleton dig on display.

Could "World First Predators" be another name for "Origins - Battle for the Planet"? Both are from the early 2000s and seem to cover the same subject matter and taxa. Clips from Origins are still widely viewable on several platforms (inc. UA-cam) if anyone can compare them.
I'm personally virtually certain they are one and the same, just under different names.
I wouldn't rule it out as a possibility. It's pretty common for documentaries to have alternate titles when they air in other countries, so who knows? Maybe they're the same thing
There is a strange example of lost paleo media I can think of. It's a creationist documentary (though I'm using that term loosely) called "Footprints in Stone". It was released in 1973 and is about the alleged human footprints alongside the dinosaur footprints in Glen Rose, Texas. After the "man tracks" were thoroughly debunked in the 80s, the film was apparently pulled from distribution. I have been unable to find it online, and if there are any surviving copies they are probably locked away in archives. I did find a review of it published in 2008 for the National Center for Science Education, so it's possible they have a copy, though I can't be certain.
Edit: I checked the NCSE website again, and that review was actually published in 1981. 2008 was just when it was archived on the site.

I distinctly remember watching Predator X on UA-cam ages ago... but then, I've had several recent experiences that drive home how unreliable memory can be. So that's gonna bug me all week.
I remember playing a caveman challange on BBC website, but not much more about it except for the matching game. I believe there were game levels corresponding to different stages of human evolution and Megaloceros hunting was one of the challanges, but I may be confusing it with some other game.

As far as I can tell, the second season of Prehistoric Planet (the discovery kids re-edit of WwD and WwB) has not been released on any form of home video. The only scraps of it I could find are the opening narration and various screenshots. Only season 1 has been released and now that there’s the Apple TV series, I worry it’ll get buried into obscurity

I watched Triassic giant in 2009, the documentary consisted of a a lot of footage documenting the excavation and recovery of the fossil and how they transported it back out of the wilderness. It was a while ago so I can remember a few scenes on of them being a scene of one of the paleontologist with a rifle slung over his right shoulder scaring off a bear while the narrator goes on about the dangers of bears and another being the scene where the fossil is covered in plaster and is lifted from the surrounding rock
I remember it all so had the standard 3D reconstruction of the fossil that was so ubiquitous of paleo documentaries of the time
Anyone remember an Animal Planet or Discovery Channel special featuring Nigel Marvel I believe.
I remember him interacting with various prehistoric creatures, mostly remember a sequence of a sarcosuchus running onto a golf course, people running away and Nigel was eaten.
Have no recollection of any of the context, but I never forgot that sequence.

Skeleton jigsaw. 4 or so skeletons that you had to fit together with a timer. All the skeletons were from Prehistoric Beasts (Gastornis, Mammoth, Basilosaurus, and I think Australopithecus?).
Who dung it? Matching game with coprolites and animals that you had to guess which made the poop.
Fact or Fiction (Maybe Myth or something). They would give you various stories that were either true or false and you'd have to guess. Some included the Piltdown man hoax as well as the BBC April Fool's prank of the "spagetti trees".
There was a Baryonyx game that I never got to work, same as the 3D Jurassic game. Neither would work on my computer/the sites were down.

i wonder if anyone here is familiar with a british children's book from the late 1970's with a page about prehistoric elephants, in which there was a mammoth using a hair-dryer on it's fur. i still have some pages left, but lost the covers many years ago. on the subject of "cruel eden"i wouldn't be saurprised if the plot involved weaponized dinosaurs in ww1, with the british characters trying to infiltrate a castle-wolfenstein operation by the germans, with dinosaurs. the operation would be traced to a location in the plateau, that has a macguffin not unlike the evolutionary secret in the novel "the land that time forgot"by burroughs. with the recent challenger revival, the novella ïsland of terror"by william meikle, hints at something similar, and more clearly so öut of the depths"in the challenger anthology "lost worlds, found places".

I’m still hopping for some Mention of the Christian slater dub of Walking with beasts for kids known as Prehistoric planet.
While the Walking with Dinosaurs dub by Ben stiller is available on DVD there is no trace of the beasts dub left outside of some screenshots.

Figured I'd toss something I remember seeing when I was 3. It's an anime with I believe a human girl and two humanoid dinosaurs or have dinosaurs features a pterosaur and a ceratopsian of sorts. One thing of particular note was a episode where said ceratopsian has a dream involving the iconic humanoid Troodon if anyone knows what I'm talking about please reply

Edit: Yep. I do. Bought it when it first released. I bought it because I recognized the name Tim Haines and as a fan of WWD and Primeval I jumped on it. Haven't gotten around to reading it, though. Good thing I did. Didn't think it would vanish.
So I guess that confirms it was some sort of limited digital release. Very strange, but it's good to know that some people have it

Getting in contact with Haines has proved to be difficult in the past. The best we've managed to do to get in contact with him was through people like Darren Naish who know him personally
