I am reading the Rebel right now and really enjoying it! I am hoping to finish it in a week because it is SO long but I just can't put it down!

Right this is spooky ! I decided to replay Sinking City today haha I’ll need to give some of the self pub novels a try, however I do agree with you that a few of the self pubs I’ve read I kinda wish were longer or were multi pov. So glad I finally picked up Grace of Kings as it’s stunning !!

Sinking city is the best for vibes so far. The length of self pubs tends to be industry pressure, more so than traditional publishing, from what I can tell. Which is frustrating, because it prevents self published authors from writing longer books until they have a nest egg to spend on the book (or they’re fine with smaller margins.
      Grace of Kings is amaaazing

@@PonderingsOfPete the first time I played Sinking City I was on a boat for work, not the best time to play a game like that haha in the arctic circle, in winter haha

In June everything I was excellent:
    *Fantasy*
    Dresden Files 12: Changes
    - Plus the short story "Aftermath"
False Sun - R Scott Bakker (short story)
    *Historical-Fantasy*
The Lions of Al-Rassan - Guy Gavriel Kay
    - Strong contender for my book of the year.
    *Sci-Fi*
Elder Race - Adrian Tchaikovsky (novella)
    - Well, I'm officially a fan now. I've since read a few more and can't wait to eventually start Shadows of the Apt.
    Slaughterhouse Five - Kurt Vonnegot

Nice! Shadows of the Apt is quite the ride!
I haven’t really deleted into Dresden to far (stopped after the first book), but I might pick it up eventually. In many moons.

@@PonderingsOfPete I don't blame you. The first two books were rough, rougher now in retrospect the further I've gotten into the series. I enjoyed them but Book 3 was when I fell in love with the series. But reading that many books to get hooked is a huge ask for anyone.

@@thatsci-firogue well I did that for Malazan, although I liked GotM a lot more than Stormfront.

I hope you feel better about reading but please don't take too much pressure.
The Veiled Throne is equivalent to three novels. Please give it to someone who reads only poetry or articles or short stories and watch their 'you've got to be joking' expression.
Also I really welcome shorter books. (Staunchly ignoring my copy of JS&MN and recent ebooks of Veiled Throne and Speaking Bones muttering 'hypocrite')

I’m definitely feeling much better this month about reading. It really delicates month to month sometimes and June was just a slumpy month. Well on my way to finishing that crazy TBR currently

    • @PonderingsOfPete

@@PonderingsOfPete Take care and please always prioritise self-care as much as possible.
I have slumps all the time and reread Agatha Christie (even though I know who did it in all of them) or watch/read rant reviews of books I really disliked 😀. But then my TBR is usually 1 or 2 books max because I quit series all the time!

@@Paromita_M oh of course. It’s been a learning process, but taking care of myself is what I’ve been focusing on for quite some time. If I hadn’t, the slump would’ve been months
