- Today we are checking out the MSI MPG 321URX, our first look at the new generation of QD-OLED gaming displays that offer a 4K resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. Up until now, OLED monitors have been limited to 1440p or ultrawide screen sizes, and it is safe to say there has been a fair bit of hype surrounding these new 32in 4K models. sorry for spam and bot comments - its a youtube thing lately. We are removing them as soon as we see them, report any you see. thanks!
Sadly its not lately, its been for years. Some other channels even have to run certain software to help manage them. Its worse when they create a large bot comment chain too. UA-cam keeps saying theyll do something about it but yet to see any results
😖
Picked this up at microcenter for $950+tax=$1006. Coming from lg c2 42inch oled I hated the initial colors until I did internet search and saw the recommendation to use sRGB mode. Oh wow what a difference! Now I am in love with this monitor! Thanks to the guy on redit that suggested sRGB mode!
Hello there, Can u help me plz? im thinking about bouying the aoc q24g2a ( i have watched ur review) to replace mt Benq zowie 2455T (i play esports mainly EA FC 24) is it a good option? because EA FC is 60 HZ 1080p .. I also play other games such as chivalary 2 and Isonzo tekken battlefront battlefield, cod etc...can i play at 4k 60 hz with the aoc q24g2a? tks in advance (I Play on the PS5)
im just trying to find a good monitor in order to play well my main game and and my "relaxing games". Best regards
you would be surprised how many there are .. the numbers are in the 99,9% percantages.
Nice to see your enthusiasm, it really is a good time for gaming monitors and monitor tech in general!!
Dominic is great!
thanks, it's easy when a product is so good to be honest!
Great technical analysis. One of the few on UA-cam who can test these screens properly 👍🏻
Thanks 🤘🏻
Great analysis hope to see more of these kg
Plenty more in the works!
Awesome. Alienware one on the way ?
Loved the review. 👏🏻
Great review!!
Killer review that. Really sold the panel to me
Got it on backorder. Let the wait begin!
The technical analysis is great Dominic. 👌🏻
Thanks!
what a screen, absolutely awesome
Best price amongst other 4k 240hz oleds st 32 inch new form factor as well.
Looks great!
I just bought my first OLED monitor, the Alienware 4k 32". It has a perfect balance of features to lure me into the realm of OLED displays.
Good to see more options.
I'm still wary of burn in... But it's a risk I'm willing to take
How was it when you were playing at 4k 240 fps? Did you notice any compression artefacts from DSC?
awesome review
Glad you enjoyed it
Great review! I have this monitor for 2 weeks and I am very satisfied. The colors are fantastic, great sharpness and also very good hdr. Very happy with the purschase. I admit I wanted Asus pg32ucdm initialyy but I don t regret I bought MSI.
Hi I’m looking at getting a 3rd gen oled gaming monitor, I looked at this but my pc is a decent spect with RTX3080ti at 4k on mw3 for example my benchmark states 60fps I know I can’t run much faster on hdmi port as not 1.4, with none fps games it’s no issue I would enjoy the quality, what pc setup are you running please?
Thanks just getting into the new monitors! Leaving curve 🖖👍
Hello, I am using it with an rtx 4090 and a 13900k. I have decent fps even in most demanding titles, above 100 fps with highest details. The monitor is very smooth and very fast, indeed is a real pleasure to play games on it.
4090. Wow. Lucky man 😮
That’s some setup man 😮
@@hotandcoldrunningwater-hj2mn if you say so🥴
Wonderful to see monitor technology advance this far. Still gonna have to wait about a decade for an affordable 4K 120hz OLED though
This monitor only exists on paper.
And yet, here it is
@@Mike-pd6np Yep, here on UA-cam. Good luck finding one.
@nicholash8021 there was one at my local micro center that I was at about 2 hours ago lmao
@@Mike-pd6npI'm good friends with a manager at microcenter Cambridge and after 3 months of waiting, he finally got me a 321UPX, but no 321URX came in yet. What state do you live in that still has these close to midnight in stock on a Sunday? They sell out within minutes in the morning if they do manage to get a few copies. LMAO
@@Mike-pd6npTustin? I was there yesterday and didn’t see it lol
I bought MSI MPG 271QRXDE QD-OLED. I set it to Auto-HDR windows 11 with callibration, and it was very dark in windows mode
Which one is better, this monitor or the 4k 240hz OLED from ROG PG32UCDM ?
I find curved screens great if you're just gaming on the system.
But I've been wanting a flat panel like this, this might be my choice in the future.
Curved monitors are superb. Was never sold on massive curved televisions though
Watching this on my 321URX
Do they have a remote you can buy that is supported?
How does HDR compare to the ASUS PG32UQX which you had also reviewed a couple of years ago? Would one miss the brightness?
I just looked at the PG321UQX and while it can get much brighter the image quality is just so much better with these 4K QD-OLED monitors in my opinion.
The brightness won't be missed in HDR for sure. Per pixel dimming is far superior than full array local dimming. It will give you 0 black point with infinite contrast, which is not possible with current lcd.
Iv been absolutely loving the AW 32 inch. The colors on QD OLED just hit different than WOLED
I went with the Alienware. Got tired of waiting for this one. The Alienware is absolutely amazing. Solves all the issues i had with the LG OLED
how do you find the curve on a 32in 16:9?
Nice panel was considering it. Or this one, or Asus.
@@KitGuruTech doesn't bother me in the slightest.
@@rickgear2579 can I asked what problems you had with the LG OLED?
I’m wondering this too, I have a LG C3
Love this monitor.
Great Review, thanks. I've had My Eye on one of these Monitors for a while, but My RX 5700 XT would Struggle to Drive It. Might have to Wait until I get a new GPU...
How many games can run 4k @ 240 FPS? 🤔 I can only think of a couple competitive shooter games that could possibly hit those frames and the people who play competitive titles aren’t interested in 4k so who is this monitor for?
Also how many gamers are using 14900k’s overclocked 7200-8000 DDR5ram , $600-$1000 motherboard and 4090’s? Prob .001 % of the population because that’s a $5000+ system.
@@andrewbryan9363Well I’m not buying one for 4K or 240hz, I want it because it's OLED and they finally make them at my preferred size of 32”. I play games at 60fps so my gpu power is used to push resolution and visuals.
@@andrewbryan9363 my build was only 2400$ sans storage and it out performs what you just mentioned…
@@andrewbryan9363the thing is, there’s no 32” 4K144hz OLEDs so these 32” 4K240hz panels is all we can buy. I’m running a 4090 with a 14700k and yeah, 4K240hz is unachievable in 99% games even with DLSS and frame generation but again, that’s all we can buy. You don’t need 240 FPS to enjoy games, even if you can only hit 120 FPS this monitor is still worth it.
Mine is on backorder, I've heard that you can't adjust the brightness while in HDR can you confirm this? I use monitors at a lower brightness as my eyes get very sensitive to bright screens, the IPS monitor I'm using currently is set to around 105 nits. If not, what's the best way to enjoy this in HDR without destroying my eyeballs?
that's correct, brightness is locked when you choose one of the 2 HDR modes. the trueblack400 mode caps brightness at about 450 nits in HDR which is the dimmest experience (shown at 12:53)
Was there a firmware update for the monitor when you installed it??
i wonder does these monitor have banding too?
Well MSI hit this one out of the park. job well done
can you make best setting bro
How is the VRR performance? Is it stable and flicker free?
I have the 271qrx and it flickers pretty hard. Gonna send it back. But it´s the 271qrx tho.
Great review and screen. Looking around for deals now 😂
Good luck!
When can I purchase this in the US? I can't find a single site with availability. My impulsivity is not going to last more than another day.
Hasn't been released yet
It must be good. I can’t find it anywhere
Is there an issue with this monitor not being g-sync compatible certified? As in flickering, i will not have VRR enabled.
no, i did 90% of my testing with adaptive sync on a 4090 and it was absolutely great
I mean, seeing this MSI screen makes me wonder, why I should go for the ASUS PG32UCDM? Its the same panel, its also using a graphen cooling, and here in germany its 1.700 € (ASUS) vs. 1.400 € (MSI).
Is it better than Asus ROG PG32UCDM QD-OLED ??
Does this monitor supprt KVM input switching using a keyboard?
Also, does it have HDMI eARC?
Great review Dominic ❤
Glad you liked it!
Ima really be interested in the prices of oleds in a year or two if they become the new thing these companies focus on, personally i got an lg c3 cause i can use it as a tv if i retire it as a monitor. Also hope that burn in eventually just becomes something that doesnt happen but maybe we need a different panel type for that. Having to buy a 2nd lcd panel just to avoid that for my mmorpg with static huds
pg32ucdm review with Dominic as a host please
Will this monitor be good for watching HDR movies? Does it need HDR10 or Dolby Vision?
It will be good yes but doesn't support Dolby vision unfortunately
32in is too big. I'm looking for at least 27 but i prefer 24 any recommendations?
Where do you find this monitor? Ive looked in amazon and just see the MAG 321UPX and reviews say not to get it because the BIOs is borked
Not sure its released yet in some parts of the world,. where are you?
seems to be pre-order only almost everywhere!
@amdforlife5591 California so the monitor should be available
@KitGuruTech I thought it had released already. Honestly I can wait. Every other comparable monitor is $300-400 more expensive.
It’s hard to find, and if you do it’s a backorder. I was lucky and got my order in from Amazon Canada cuz I checked the listing like 100x a day. Order placed on March 25th and I still don’t have an estimated delivery date. I think I’ve heard something about a part shortage…
I can’t decide between the 4k 240hz or 360hz 1440!!! What’s a better purchase?
really is going to come down to personal preference - i would rather the sharpness of 4K, but we do have a review of the MSI 360Hz 1440p QD-OLED in the works
@@KitGuruTech the msi qrx is no where in stock should I just go with the qpx version instead ? Or should I grab the Alienware 360hz ?
what gpu do you have? And what games do you play?
@@Mr.BananaManYT 4090 and I play racing games , fps shooter games , fifa , Star Wars , mortal combat , story mode games too .
@99vv17 hmmmm personally, I would go for the 4k 240hz. I think for most people 240hz is good enough. I would only go for the 360hz if you're really competitive and play mostly esport games.
Have you tested the Asus PG32UCDM though?
Dont think kitguru work with ASUS after all that nonsense a year or so ago
@@RainbowSunset-uq2hs Thanks I didn’t know, makes sense.
Sounds perfect except for the fact that it’s impossible to find one of these to buy.
Waiting for 1080p oleds
Nice but the price is ridonkulous. I hope they make a 24"/27" with 120hz/144hz?
I got the Asus PG32 it’s awesome I love it
I thought about the MSI model but I just hate the look of it lol
I love the Asus look gives off a cyberpunk vibe that I love
Each to their own , I just hated the look of the Asus price tag lol
Ghey
Is the bezel aluminum silver or black
the bottom chin is grey, but the sides are black
Is the VRR flicker issue very noticeable on this monitor?
On my 321URX I get some minor flickering but it is barely noticeable and only in loading screens. On the monitors I had before corsair xeneon flex and Asus pg27aqdm the vrr flicker was more visible.
If there are games with bad frame pacing and big jumps between framerates it is very noticeable , that said most of these screens will have the same problem in those situations
The issue is minimal, if its a problem for you, MSI announced that the issue will be resolved in the next firmware update.
@@hellblazer7VRR flicker especially in dark scenes is not a fixable issue. Every OLED flickers with VRR on if the frame rate isn’t stable. There’s only 2 ways to fix it, disable VRR or cap your FPS to something you can hit consistently.
Does it works with Gsync without any problem? (Flicker, stutter etc)
yep not a problem at all - all testing was done with an RTX 4090 and had zero issues
Every OLED panel on the market will flicker in dark games with G-Sync ON if the frame rate isn’t stable. I suggest reading up on it before making a purchase. It’s probably the worse downside of OLED. I hate that most people don’t mention this.
@@Tectosaurus thanks for your info. Do you how to fix this?
@@robertuskurniawan2166 The only way to ''fix'' or ''prevent'' OLED VRR flicker is to disable VRR or cap your framerate so that it doesn't fluctuate as much. So if you're playing a game that fluctuates in FPS a lot (like from 100 to 150), you're better off locking it at 100-120. This sucks as it defeats the purpose of VRR but every tech has its downsides. Luckily this is for the most part only noticeable in dark games, so if you play high framerate competitive games like Overwatch, Valorant or Fortnite you won't see flicker as they're bright games. But if you play something like Tarkov or single player horror games, you most likely will have to cap your FPS. Playing at a smooth framerate will eliminate flicker almost completely and you'll only see it if the game you're playing has stutters.
@@Tectosaurus thanks. What about Asus PG32UCDM QDOLED. It has Gsync Compatible label. Does it also flicker when FPS is not stable?
Now to find it in stock... :(
How does this compare to the alienware 32?
I've not tried it, but it's the same panel except the Aleinware is curved and this is flat!
color me impressed. thank god im not in the UK, that pricing is insane compared to US
I would like to see this one get a head to head with ASUS and ALIENWARE models.
Which gpu you're using here bro?
all testing was done on RTX 4090 :)
@@KitGuruTech Awesome bro ❤️😍
Hope they come up with 45inch Ultrawide QD-OLEDs as the LG WOLED version spoiled me. I don’t think I can step down to a smaller screen size now as the immersion at that size and 800r curve is unreal.
I'd love a 45 inch IF they upped the resolution to something like 3820 x 1600. That rez still has a low pixel density, but is many times better than what we have now.
That's a good point, I'm not sure if there are any planned, but there are a few 49in 32:9 QD-OLEDs?
@@rickgear2579Yeah text can be abit wonky looking but its not as bad as some people make it out to be (but still you may want to stay away from it if you’re looking to use it for text heavy tasks). Once you start gaming though, any concerns just evaporate because it immerses and sucks you in better than any 16:9 flat panel can ever do. Sitting in front of it is basically “experiencing VR without being in VR”. It can feel like being in a cockpit or in a driver’s seat. LG absolutely nailed it by using an 800R curve
@@KitGuruTechYeah I’m not seeing any 39 or 45 inch 3rd gen QD-OLED panels coming soon. Only those 49 inch super ultrawides ones that’s more for the productivity folks. Maybe next year.
I'm trying so hard to wait this one out, rather than buying the Alienware, but it's starting to feel like it will never be available.
Waiting for the Gigabyte competitor later this year.
This or the PG32UCDM from ROG, which is £50 more... gonna have to research some more
Great video , I also noticed that you lost some weight 😮
Thanks !
Concerning the differences in prices - 1299£ in UK and 949.99$ in the US: These prices are not directly comparable as the UK price includes taxes and US price doesn't, isn't that right?
no its just more expensive here. The Alienware equivalent is £980.
@@76sagman After having compared some prices I must say yeah, UK customers are getting a little bit screwed, but if you substract VAT from UK prices, as one should for every price comparison, it is none the less a much more level playing field.

Hi Dominic. Why does something like your video show up every time I believe my PC is finally finished? You should begin your videos by saying, "Well, are you ready to spend more money on your PC? Thanks for an excellent video, and have a nice day.
Sorry. I think !
@@KitGuruTech Hi Dominic, There's nothing for you to be sorry about. You don't make me buy anything computer related. I'm just PC-addicted and can't help myself.
Nothing wrong with that. Most people who watch Kitguru are I’d imagine 😅
It sounds silly but I'm running a 42" LGC2 and even though it's only 120hz, that large OLED panel is breathtaking. Dropping down to 32" (even at way higher hz) is going to be painful...£1300 is $1650 equivalent and $999 is £790.........Somethings not right there!
there's no denying the OLED monitors have a premium versus TVs, but i personally would much rather a 240Hz 32in model over a 120Hz 42in model - each to their own i guess!
@@KitGuruTech I definitely agree with you. I actually dropped down (from 4k 144hz) Let's hope they release some larger variants 😊👍

You're advertisements between scenes is obnoxious.
Just know, they are slightly lower priced on this because MSI says that no matter what, this model will NEVER get a firmware update. So if anything needs to be adjusted down the road, this model with NOT get it. This comes from MSI themselves. Spend a little more and get a better monitor.
Wow - Brits getting totally creamed on pricing - even Australia is cheaper and we're the home of getting creamed. Australia is the equivalent of 1150 poonds.
Uk is always expensive.

You tested both with a spyder or equivalent ?
Sure other monitors get better, for example some have extreme high end features, like being capable of receiving firmware updates and others brand are even capable to put the right ports, like the full bandwidth displayport 2.1. Also MSI customer support suuucks...😂😂😂🤡🤡🤡
the MPG 321URX supports firmware updates, it's the MAG version that doesn't (though MSI told me they will be adding support for that anyway)
