James Taylor puts such a wonderful touch in every tune he sings & plays. Man, his music pulled me through moments of despair & added warmth to the great times too ! What a joy.
Taylor has lived thru the nightmares of depression and despair. He’s been down those roads and many others. The emotions and feelings he sings of are for him, very real. He is blessed with exceptional talent.
James could make a rock melt. I saw this guy way back in Boston in the late sixties. Three people in a cafe. Us and James. He must of thought I was nuts copying fingers stylings and chords. James could make rocks melt.....
As North America, the 🌎 begins to come out of the darkness and strong hold of covid-19, 🇺🇸 and a few other countries are attempting to become creative as far as safety protocols and concerts go. I know May are left out of rescheduled concerts. Until my Canadian border opens up, live- streaming, and past performances we shall have to settle for here in 🇨🇦, and "ain't no use to sit and wonder why" nor "think twice about" what just is. We must pack a healthy dose of patience, respect for a process just now and a whole lot of thanks into our daily lives that we came out of this ordeal still intact So fortunate to tune up a James Taylor song or one he has covered. Feeling blessed.
Very beautifully done James thank you so much. I’m sitting here in my heart shaped chair looking out the window at the boats and the sunshine and thinking how peaceful your voice and the memories of the past make me feel🥰
Never heard James Taylor cover this song. Love his version of this incredibly great, great song. Really love his arrangement. Sometimes James gets into songs that are kind of pop but I truely enjoy when he is doing the very folkiest tunes.
Huge fan of Dylan and JT +have heard many singers try to cover Dylan that I wish I hadn't. NOT J.T. though JT does Dylan proud here as well as echoing --paraphrasing what Leonard Cohen stated about Dylan being awarded The Nobel Prize: "Giving Dylan The Nobel Prize is like pinning a Gold Medal on Mount Everest for being the largest mountain". Always amazing that James Taylor--an all time great himself--also looks to Dylan as a mountain...then corrects himself with a chuckle--a whole "cultural mountain range"!

I am a strong fan of JT & of Dylan. Though a unique cover, I much prefer they stay true to themselves. There are many covers of each other's songs. These two are like water & oil. They do not mix well. Both are great, not shaken or stirred. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed it.
Hey there, Bill.... I'm also a strong fan of both... and have heard exceptional n' also not-so-hot covers of both... I think on this one James does Bob proud, and also stays true to himself. Thanks for the post, Mark, and as always, thanks, eTown, I love your shows!
Actually, when they were both in their younger days, JT did a near-perfect Dylan impersonation. You can hear him tempted a few times here, but he steps back.
Huge fan of Dylan and JT +have heard many singers try to cover Dylan that I wish I hadn't. “Gone to Carolina in my Mind” - 1971 Fall in Chapel Hill JT played Carmichael Auditorium (then UNC’s basketball facility) - I got 2 tickets but my sister, a HS senior, adored James - so I gave girlfriend Patty one ticket & sister the other - an hour before showtime I snuck into Carmichael via adjacent Woolen Gym - a guy in the tunnel asked me why was I there? - I told him I was with the stage crew - unexpectedly he assigned me to carry some co-axle cable up to the spotlights - Minutes later I moved down to floor level and laid Patty & sis’s blanket front row - I put a song request list on the piano - the week before event Patty & Sis had a screen printed t-shirt made with “Sweet Baby James” on front (green field with yellow letters) - I took the wrapped shirt to the dressing room but was stopped so I asked security to deliver it - the outside doors opened and Patty & sis joined me at floor level - within 10 feet of JT’s virtuosity - he played his first set - took a brief intermission - then started playing again - after a few more songs Patty pokes me & points toward the entry way from dressing room - leaning against the wall wearing the t-shirt was Carly Simon! No shit! - can’t wait to return to Chapter Hill - Class of ‘74
You think it starts too slow and soft. Then James starts playing. Ahh, that's right. Then the song goes on. Nice accompaniment.... but, that guitar.... it really ties the room together nicely.
James Taylor’s line: Where I’m bound, I can’t tell. Goodbye is too good of a word babe. I’ll just say fare the well. Jerry Reed’s version: Where I’m bound, I can’t tell. Goodbye is too good of a word babe. I’ll just say go to hell. ua-cam.com/video/wBcKrM7g6Fo/v-deo.html
I have seen JT three times. I recently saw the JT/ Jàckson Browne tour. Terrible. If he can't do better than that, he should retire. As a fellow Carolina boy, I've been a huge fan siñce 74. Hope that the future treats him kindly. I at a loss to figure out wth has happened...
Probably my favorite version of my favorite Dylan song.

😊😊thank you
It's alright 👍 👋✌️✌️
Best performence ever!!!!
James Taylor is a treasured and blessed troubadour for sure
That was a beautiful cover. His version has an undertone of heartbreak.
Well said. Performing it slower adds melancholy
Beautiful ⚘️ 😍 😊😩😫🥱🥱🖤🖤🖤😊😊😊
James Taylor, my first concert at The Hollywood Bowl when Mud, Slide Slim came out. AMAZING concert, especially for my first one.
James could make a rock melt. I saw this guy way back in Boston in the late sixties. Three people in a cafe. Us and James. He must of thought I was nuts copying fingers stylings and chords. James could make rocks melt.....
Wow! What a great experience and memory. Did you ultimately become the guitarist you wanted to be?
Wowwwwwww. What a gem. I mean his voice is second to none...jeez...Im sure the staff was just mesmerized
Sort of a cultural “Mountain”... Range. Well said James Taylor & lovely take on this early Bob Dylan classic.
His voice feels everything but is still a soothing touch.
Beautiful sounding guitar.
What lyrics
James Taylor has a voice like melting chocolate. Dylan's words are running water and daily bread. Our lives need this.
Never heard this song by James Taylor very good thank sweet baby
Thanks James Taylor... and thanks for all your great songs ♥️
A great version of one of the great songs. Thank you.
I can't believe how motionless they remained throughout the entire performance.
Yes I agree. Can’t even see their lips move. 😊
Lol..thought you were serious till I watched it
Best cover on here. 👍
I never saw their lips move. Extraordinary!

The Master at work...true greatness, he just adds so much to any song, even one of Dylan's.
beautiful version! good voice and good guitars!
It’s hard to top Dylan, but this rendition is an absolute tribute to Dylan! Well done!
Here, Here, I second that.
Very true.
Awesome.
I'll take James Taylor, By Far, anyday
Absolutely beautiful. Lifetime James Taylor guy. Have never heard this!!??!
Me neither, until tonight. So so glad that I have...
Best version ever! Thank you, JT; thanks, Bob Dylan!
played this song many times,James adds his usual and wonderful rendition, another inspiration for me - Barrie Styles
Thank you so much, I am a big fan pf both. All the best from Ireland.
Thanks for sharing these... You make my day. Hoyah!
Still resonates with me. Heard the original as a preteen and didn’t know what it meant till my mid 20s
Lovely rendition
Wow! No one ever did this better than James Taylor.
Billy Strings. Different feel but a gem nonetheless
@@carloscota8839 Billy has become a great singer/guitarist, for sure.
Agreed
Uh Bob Dylan did it better…
Joan Baez‘ version is wonderful!
I loved it! I met James when I was 21 years old. He is as close to perfect as humans get. ❤️
Thanks for posting this.
Thank you for posting fantastic. Best regards Steve in York. 🍺
His comedic timing in the intro is spot on! As is the song, of course...
Love the slide guitar (or Dobro) that someone is calling mandolin in the bridge....
I thought I was the only one who really digs the dobro accompaniment.
My guess is that it is Jerry Douglas on the masterful slide.
JT with this rendition has won me over yet again.
❤ Awesome ❤ great version ❤
My favorite song to hear covered, and this one is sweet. I love to hear the internal harmonies that different souls bring out of it. Thanks.

One of Bobby's best and as for the delivery-the best too!
2 great musical influences... Bob Dylan and James Taylor

He certainly makes the song his own.... wonderful......
thanks for posting this...its somewhat of a rarity
You're welcome. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Cultural mountain range is a great description of Bob's talent but even that seems inadequate. Great great cover.
Great writing, better singing, James brings a soul to the lyrics
❤❤❤
Here the singer and the writer mutually tell how great both of them.
Huge fan of Dylan and JT +have heard many singers try to cover Dylan that I wish I hadn't. NOT J.T. though

Very cool!
For the person responsible for the subtitles it’s wandered down the road not wondered down the road , words have meanings ! Great interpretation as usual by James et al .
I like the wandering/wondering ambiguity - brings another dimension to the music. There's poetry here ...
Settle down and just listen Tony
Wandering down the road, I will be wondering. Takes time to heal from such treatment.
So good
Une voix extraordinaire.
" Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right "
… It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If'n you don't know by now
And it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It'll never do somehow
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm a-traveling on
But don't think twice, it's all right
___________________________
… And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe
That light I never knowed
And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road
But I wish there was somethin' you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
But we never did too much talking anyway
But don't think twice, it's all right
_____________________________
… So it ain't no use in calling out my name, gal
Like you never done before
And it ain't no use in calling out my name, gal
I can't hear you anymore
I'm a-thinking and a-wonderin' walking down the road
I once loved a woman, a child, I'm told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don't think twice, it's all right
______________________________
… So long honey, babe
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
Goodbye's too good a word, babe
So I'll just say, "Fare thee well"
I ain't a-saying you treated me unkind
You could've done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right

Deusche Version
Also sage ich einfach: „Lebe wohl“

Taylorized. Sweet.
Few artists can sing a Bob Dylan's song and sound good. He's one of them.
Hardly..Well, honestly, not either.
Dang. I wish I could see the visuals. Is there a video? This is just the audio. TYreasure though it is. Never heard James pick like that. Very cool.
J.T. brings some sweet and kindness to a song that doesn't have so much originally. But, I still prefer the Dylan's version.
You think it starts too slow and soft. Then James starts playing. Ahh, that's right. Then the song goes on. Nice accompaniment.... but, that guitar.... it really ties the room together nicely.
