I must say this is the chess format I enjoy watching and I'm interested in the most. 1 vs 1 for a few games, like with WCC + freestyle, which excludes all these engine preparations, so it proves who is actually better on the unknown waters. Exciting! I hope to see more of that. And I'm definitely slowly but steadily getting bored of the classical chess format.

Well this game is an example of a simple rule in chess: if you are winning an endgame against Carlsen, its a draw. If you are drawing an endgame against Carlsen, you lose.
Magnus said he felt good about his defense and never felt like he was in trouble in the post game interview actually the commentators felt Fabiano had chances but missed them they seemed to be lamenting a lot during the game Fabiano’s disappointment I’m sure he has some happiness in coming in second place hope he stays motivated Congrats Magnus Carlsen Chess superstar Thanks Agadmator Let’s Go Gukesh 😊♟️‼️🇮🇳🏆❤️
@@UnknownUser-j3nlmao I would’ve agreed with u before Chess9LX where he won convincingly against far more “intuitive” players like Hikaru, So, Aronian, Kasparov. He also finished second in the freestyle goat challenge .
Magnus in the post game interview has apologized for blundering the endgame, also apologized on behalf of Fabi for missing the chances to win, saying it was a very difficult endgame for both of then with few minutes on the clocks!!
I don't think the "advantage" to white can be framed as a discussion between normal chess Vs chess 960. I would assume (I could be wrong) that each different set up would provide a different amount of advantage, some positions possibly even favouring black and others favouring white substantially more. Without having mountains of games to compare from each position, it is close to impossible to have anything close to a definitive answer. This is just speculation but I suspect that the positioning of the bishops is the main key. A lot of 960 games I have noticed that bishops starting in corners can often be easily shut out of the early and mid parts of the game by one well placed and defended pawn, this seems to advantage white more than in notmal games. That is just my perception.
Watching Fabiano was a pain today. His pulse surpassing 140 while Magnus was calm all the way. Just pain. He is getting older and I am starting to believe, that despite being 3rd highest rated player to have ever lived he will not be able to grab a WCC title :(
Love your channel & watch daily, appreciate your hard work. But... this faery chess has no place in the chess world in my book. I'll watch it anyway, though. LOL
@@mognuscarlson5393 Did I say so? Im simply wondering how it is possible to play for the world champion title not knowing this endgame. I would have assumed that an endgame of two rooks and three pawns is basic knowledge for a super grandmaster especially since it could have occured in the title match against Magnus.
The only issue i have with this format is if it became truly popular theory would develop and it would be worse on the player because of how many starting positions a player would inevitably need to memorize to be effective st high level. The solution to the problem amplifies the problem it tried to solve.
@michaelmassaro4375 if speedrunners have taught us anything its that people will absolutely spend 30 years mastering something if needed. And thats the issue. It will reach a point of optimization that runs off any newcomers.
I think the point is that even if you learn a single line for each starting position which would be 960 lines which is already crazy your opponent could play the 10s or 100s of lines which are at least equal to play for each one and then you'd need to learn 10000s of lines to have an advantage, you could learn a gambit for each line but the point of Fischer's random is to calculate all the lines you play instead of learning theory so you wouldn't fall for a scholar's mate if you calculate the whole thing
This video is genuinely displays why Magnus Carlsen is the best in the game. Fabi should’ve won that endgame but no one comes close to Magnus in the endgame knowledge. He’s won so many games just through the end game. It’s absolutely the worst place to face Magnus.
Exactly and I always wonder why Fabi is praised so much..I mean he is a beast for sure, I have high regards to him..but against Magnus he fails time and again
@rkrmtest He's praised so much because he's solidly the second best player in the world, with the highest ELO performance in a tournament, third highest ELO of all time and held Magnus to 12 classical draws in the WCC. I've seen too many games where Fabi makes a crucial mistake in the endgame. It's sad to see, but what can you do...
Yeah... I found some of the moves that Fabi didn't play
But maybe it'd be different to play stronger opponents...
