awesome vids. i love how much hell you put them thru. This makes me feel super secure about my purchases. youre doing a job no one else wants to do...it's brutal to watch but it's super informative and helpful. keep em coming.
metallica1687 It’s not a proper knife attack, but rather to see how the blade feels when slashing with it. You’d really want to stab with a knife, because 1: your edge will dull after chopping in and hitting bone, a sewing machine motion with an in and out stabbing movement would likely slip past the ribs/ wouldn’t damage the blade. You could just turn the knife sideways in the hand and stab through the ribs too. 2: slashing might cause a lot of bleeding but it probably wouldn’t kill. You need to puncture the internal organs, and why not just use the point to do that? This knife is no chopper. You’d need a big blade to do damage with chopping.
I bought this knife just yesterday and then I watched this review after. I was holding my breath the whole time I was watching but in the end, I was so glad it was even tougher than what I first thought. Your test made me a very proud owner of the gerber strongarm.
How would you compare it with the LMF2 you tested both knifes. I have prodigy fine edge one that i destroyed sharpening and one brand new. I learn the best way to sharpen this type of knifes is in House of Knifes by a professional . I like the Strong Arm but it is almost identical with the Prodigy. Thanks for your opinion. Alex
After the brick test you did not have to do the cinderblock test, passing the brick test has sold me one the strong arm. I have 1 and going to get another one. Thank you for sharing. Another great video.
YOU made a Believer out of me. I have knives, but not a GERBER. The GERBER Company will be making a FEW EXTRA SALES Hopefully you will be able to get some %
Ive used the shit out of my strongarm, and once again I thank you for making this video which helped me decide to get one. My srongarm is mostly dull, exposed steel now, and I was wondering how you keep a good edge on your blades. Ive had many knives, but this is the only one so far that has been able to survive my use to the point where I have to sharpen it.
Oh yeah the Strongarm is truly STRONG ! To keep a good edge you can use the Lansky Angle Knife Sharpening System. It works really well :) Mayor Fuglycool
A note on the pommel, it is actually not connected to the blade for electrical insulation in case the need to cut power wires arises, the operator will be protected
That's the LMF2. The Stromgarm is full tang. The LMF2 is not because it was designed for downed aircrew to be able to cut through a cockpit. Hence the split tang design.
Greetings, Mayor. I have Never seen this much punishment on the level you put this knife through! Got yourself another subscriber! Heading over to check out your other tests. Keep em coming!
By far the best knife Gerber has produced! Im glad I bought one, the steel is tough and holds an edge damn near like 1095 and is easy to sharpen. I knew this knife wouldn't break. Definitely a hardcore test!
+cyclist01222 To be honest, it's not a tactical move. In my eyes, it's more of a handling test. I don't profess myself as a "knife master", but I do know my way around a blade. I am gald you liked the video, and check out my other stuff when you get a chance. Thanks for watching friend :) Mayor Fuglycool
And the sheath it comes in is just as amazing as the knife. You can mount it to anything . Awesome test really good job. And remember my friend safety first!
I love your tests man they are the best i swear im now a fan and i found your channel a few hours ago i cant stop watching your vids keep it up👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Well Mayor, based on your recommendation I pulled the trigger on the Strongarm this morning. It'll arrive next Monday and will get wrapped and placed under the tree. I'll be taking it out to play in the woods after Christmas. Thanks for all your help buddy!!!
I got the strongarm last year and was worried about the toughness of the knife. but thanks for your help buddy I am really pleased to see it's really tough. Thanks a lot again.
The fact that you can stand on the knife while it's inside something shows it has more durability than you trying to do pull-ups with it. Because when you stand on it if you bounce like the way you did you are essentially multiplying your wait instead of just being your weight....
Thanks for doing these awesome tests so that I know the capabilities of various blades. As I said before... It's great seeing how far these blades can be pushed, especially if your life may depend on it!!! Thanks again Mayor 👍👍
Excellent variation of tests. Appreciated. You best this knife up most every way imaginable and then some. Thorough, awesome! And hey, what a knife it is. I’m convinced to buy this for my camping, kayaking backpacking use. Thanks very much

Your gloves are too bulky or big for you to use the pummel effectively. Your hands keep slipping every time you use it, reducing your striking power and sometimes cushioning it. Its not the knife's fault.

javier migoya I think that the Glock 78/81 are my fav all around knives. Also, the Becker BK20 and Mora Companion are up there. I am sure that people would change their mind about blades if they had to carry them in the worst environments on planet Earth. I have been in some of the worst places, and I was glad to have a tool that didn't break ;) Mayor Fuglycool
May I ask why chopping into a 2x4 is 'putting a lot of stress on the blade'? Isn't that normal stress stuff any mediocre quality knife should be able to endure day after day with ease?
if this is replacing the prodigy, and is basically the same, I found the lanyard hole in the "breaker" extremely useful for strikes, such as the 2x4 shown here, with a wrapped cord around the butt end of the handle and then wrapped through the lanyard hole. I then slide my hand through, and grasp the knife. i have found this "binding" style of lanyard wrap to aid extremely well in chopping motions, giving you an almost vice like grip on the knife. own 2 prodigies now. original one is now 5 years old and worn but still functionally undamaged, and the second one I bought? Never. even. used. extremely well made and durable. as well as economical. a good knife doesn't have to cost 150+$. and the prodigy(as that's what I can speak for)/(possibly)strongarm is evidence of it. great vid.
great test episode. It does seem to me that during the pommel test your test bench absorbed much of the initial shock needed to fracture the stone. The lateral tests worked because the stone transmitted the shock, instead of absorbing it.
+StandsWithABeer Well, I will say that with the heaver knives, the pommel strikes are more effective. The bench moving is a good theory, I will see if I can restrain it better somehow. Thanks for watching friend :) Mayor Fuglycool
+Outdoor Archives Thanks ! I have not reviewed the Condor Bushlore yet, I will see if I can find one sometime in the future. Thanks for watching friend ! :) Mayor Fuglycool

I'm located in India and still on the northeast region.. I've contacted Country capital dealer but i dont see them on the Catalog they send me.. please can you give me some advice?
Been considering the strong-arm as an all around knife for my 12 year old, for camping, fishing, hunting and the like, looks to be a pretty exceptional blade

if this is replacing the prodigy, and is basically the same, I found the lanyard hole in the "breaker" extremely useful for strikes, such as the 2x4 shown here, with a wrapped cord around the butt end of the handle and then wrapped through the lanyard hole. Never. even. used. extremely well made and durable. as well as economical. a good knife doesn't have to cost 150+$. and the prodigy(as that's what I can speak for)/(possibly)strongarm is evidence of it. great vid.
Glad you loved the vid :)

great test episode.
Thanks for watching friend :)

is there anything in price range that will match this strongarm.
you can get it for 40 bucks on Amazon now.
i just bought mine in ebay for $47 with free shipping in the coyote color
Awesome !

WOW, now that is a knife test!! Have you ever tested the condor bushlore?
+Outdoor Archives Thanks ! I have not reviewed the Condor Bushlore yet, I will see if I can find one sometime in the future.

Your reviews are really funny! I watched a lot of vids on this knife, but yours sealed the deal! The wife ordered me one for Christmas. Thanks for the review :)
Awesome ! Thanks for watching, and you will definitely love that Gerber :)

Did that nylon upper guard on the handle get hits while hitting the brick? No cracks on the guard i guess, just some dents?
Really impressed by the foot work when he was cutting the target lol ,thank you for constantly reminding us to be safe, lol.
Hi.. Mayor It's amazing how that knive can do! at first i thought that it will break.. thank you so much for your effort and vedeos etc... But how can i buy one of those? I'm located in India and still on the northeast region.. I've contacted Country capital dealer but i dont see them on the Catalog they send me.. please can you give me some advice?
I am not sure how you would buy a knife there. . . Maybe you could ask some family and friends ?

mayor what would you say is the best knife for camping fishing or survival??
Well, I would say that the BK9, SP6, or Glock 78 are all tied up there. It's hard to choose a favorite ;)
Mayor Fuglycool
thanks for showing those of us interested in buying a good quality survival knife just how tough the Gerber strong arm is.
Glad you loved he video friend :)

Been considering the strong-arm as an all around knife for my 12 year old, for camping, fishing, hunting and the like, looks to be a pretty exceptional blade
This must be the most brutal test in UA-cam, awesome 😎
If a knife can survive the Mayor, it should survive anything in normal use.
Love how he blatantly says hes open to criticism and like or dislike, either of your choice. Really shows hes just doing it for an informative audience, put it through hell while he was at it. Love this guy, definitely subscribed.
Great vid! I love videos like this because they really help me decide weather or not I want to purchase a knife or not, So Thank's! PS: you should do more tip testing!
Tip testing is now being inserted into the vids :)
Thanks for watching friend !

Had the serrated for version for years. Thing is insanely strong but doesn't stay sharp for long but doesn't really chip
