    I have watched these videos way too many times. It really is like watching a robot. He's so precise and seems to do it with ease. I'll be forever baffled lol.

    We don't have a facebook yet. We've been going through lineup changes like no other. Finally getting a solid one, same drummer. We're going to try to release an EP soon though :)

    Dunno, the drummer in my grindcore band has been playing for ~2 years and can play a steady 220bpm double kick, and ~250bpm blastbeat. However, he's been going to a music school that whole time so he's behind the kit for hours every day.
    But i guess some people just learn fast.

    Drummer of Fleshgod Apocalypse had only been seriously drumming for 3 or 4 years before doing his stuff in FGA. He's blasting faster than most people out there.

    If you have a good understanding of technique, balance, endurance, how to practice, etc. anything is possible (extreme speeds are pretty easily achieved especially if you use double strokes on the feet)... keep in mind though that yeah, a lot of dudes overestimate their playing plus playing at 230 doesn't necessarily mean playing at 230 like Shannon Lucas (which is extremely tight and powerful, etc.)

  • @TheRozzleNozzle
    @TheRozzleNozzle 11 років тому +1

    Why is everyone saying it is essential to play to a click to be tight? It does help a fuck load, but you need to have control anyway.. There are loads of drummers who don't use clicks live and they are solid and never go out of time.. Shannon just prefers to use one.

  • @Villex93
    @Villex93 12 років тому

    I have seen a ton of drummers here on youtube and asked some of them how long they have been playing and what tempo they can play, the progress of practicing etc. Some are very good, for example one of the best who played something like 230bpm and other sick stuff said that he practiced for hours per day and could do 195bpm after 2 years.
    I don't say one can't do 235 after 2 years but I find it very unlikely and I have not seen anything even close to that. Many overestimate their playing too.

  • @goawaiii
    @goawaiii 11 років тому

    Dunno, the drummer in my band does a solid 250bpm blastbeat etc and he has only played for 2-3 years I think. But then again, he practices almost every day for hours.
    He's not as fast on the pedals though, i'd guess he could play 16ths in 220 and still be tight.

    Ive been playing for almost 7 years and I hit 300bpm the other day
    Took me awhile but i only practice about 3 times a week

  • @OphidianWithin
    @OphidianWithin 12 років тому

    My drummer has been playing 3 years and even though he can't blast he can keep up at 250 bpm on the double bass. Some people have certain talents. He has naturally fast feet, some people progress at certain things better than others. He just needs to work on his blasts ;)

    Good technique + playing to a click + practicing consistently with a metronome + being entirely relaxed and comfortable at the tempo of the song + not improvising + playing fairly boring parts = how you play this tight (though, latter two are more a result of laziness than anything else and aren't necessary, of course)

  • @Villex93
    @Villex93 12 років тому

    Well if you practice like it was your job and life then maybe. And double strokes are a completely different matter.

  • @sebbimon
    @sebbimon 12 років тому

    Francesco Paoli, 2 years of drumming and records an EP with his band with songs ticking at 280bpm. Why so negative? Set your mind to it and practice and shit will happen.

    Dude, if you really set your mind to it and just dedicate yourself to the kit. Amazing shit will happen. Eventually, it'll just come to you as second nature. I've been drumming for legit two years and I can reach his speeds on double bass. Granted not for that long, but I'm getting there. The point is, just hangout with your drumset and play with a click. It will be so fucking worth it in the end result.

  • @q34r34t

    It has nothing to do with how many years you have been drumming, it has to do with how often and how long each day or each week. Its an ignorant statement to say that it can not be accomplished.
