Wakerman really knocks the drums out of the park on this whole album. Hes doing a lot of intricate stuff in the songs. I think most of the songs are as busy as this one, some even more.
Once he finally got that fill down, you could just feel the joy in his playing. And Oh my god the way he attacks the cymbals with such power and speed is incredible. Brought a lot of feel to a vey robotic feeling drum track. I'm very impressed.

I have had that same look and feeling of utter frustration sitting at the kit. For far, far less complex things. Greyson is a phenomenal drummer. All of these pros have worked incredibly hard for long hours to be as good as they are. My hat is off to them.
Maaan...that was my first take away. It's easy to get discouraged by amazing 10 year olds on utube that make me look like a beginner. Having an absolute pro get discouraged is actually encouraging. It's ironic.
Jazz drumming fits seamlessly into metal. Its really not strange. They both flirt with the whimsical constantly changing sounds from the overhead sounds like guitar, sax, flute, piano yada. It is a play ground for creativity.
Hes an unbelievably amazing drummer. And thanks drumeo for showing that drumming is a process and its not only ok to make mistakes while learning, but its part of the process. Some tik tok drummers really kill those young drummers dreams fast with their editing and production to make it seem flawless when its not
Guitar player here, every Drumeo video I watch just increases my respect for drummers. Watching him take in the track and zoning in on each section to the final performance was absolutely insanity.

Holy crap this dude is good. He may be young but he’s a grown a$$ man on that drum kit. His toughest challenge is going to be staying humble and decent. It’s got to be tempting to give in to the constant praise. So far Grayson seems to be stable and well grounded. Good for him, but what a monster. His talent is undeniable.

Most people react to his drumeo caravan which was a masterpiece too, but this one really shows his range!! He doesn't get a sheet or anything, he just listens to the song!!! This is insane because the production of nobody really makes me not realize how insane the drum parts are because the strings and the guitar are louder so I couldn't hear clearly that Brooks' writing was this crazyyyyy!!

Watch him play Caravan and see if you still think he isn't pro level, a lot of pros would give their left nut to be able to play like him.
Was just watching this guy play caravan and was thinking "man this jazz drummer would slay some metal." I had no idea idea he played for Suicidal Tendencies. This guy is a legit prodigy. His jazz chops are next level.
It probably takes most drummers a lifetime to lay this track down and these guys and gals featured on the channel are doing it in just an afternoon or less. I'll never make any drummer jokes again, great musicianship and skill are universal, even if he would just play the triangle.
i feel like thats not really fair considering most speed drummers only practice speed and just play blast beats and most other drummers dont practice speed to get up to 280. most of these songs they do are doable or at least attemptable but no one can blast at 280 unless they practice for years focusing on speed. i dont want to hear a chops drummer try to blast beat at 280 or hear an improvised drum part over what is supposed to be blast beats. not saying nick barker or george kollias arent amazing drummers but if you dont practice speed for years it just wont be attemptable in a few hours. maybe you can have nick barker try to do a jazz song or a periphery tune.
A7X definitely meant for there to be a lot of little mistakes in the playing. M Shadows talks on an interview with Nick Nocturnal that the band wanted something that wasn't overproduced and glossy. They really wanted to experiment and try new things and just be raw. It's not like the mistakes are intentional, but they didn't care to fix and clean up every single tiny detail. As (somebody, didnt catch the name) pointed it out, the thing with the high-hats was cool. None of the mistakes pulled me out of it. It doesn't matter. Music is meant to be immersive and make you feel something. That was a sick af cover and impressive that you played that well with that little time.
There is a reason he is earning and has earned such a great reputation in the music industry. For such a young musician he is already light years ahead of some of my favorite drummers of all time. It’s insane how precise his ears are to the smallest ting on a cymbal. He’s a perfectionist and had he had his way. They would have done another months worth of takes until he felt like he had it down and even then, he would still probably talk about how horrible it was. Love how humble he is and hope he stays that way!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼

That's just him learning ..all drummers learn and embrace challenge as a construct. Greyson handled it like one of the Drum Gods.
He took the challenge very seriously! Now I realize how important it is to give your all in your performance! That's what a pro does.

As (somebody, didnt catch the name) pointed it out, the thing with the high-hats was cool. None of the mistakes pulled me out of it. It doesn't matter. Music is meant to be immersive and make you feel something. That was a sick af cover and impressive that you played that well with that little time.

There is a reason he is earning and has earned such a great reputation in the music industry. For such a young musician he is already light years ahead of some of my favorite drummers of all time. It’s insane how precise his ears are to the smallest ting on a cymbal. He’s a perfectionist and had he had his way. They would have done another months worth of takes until he felt like he had it down and even then, he would still probably talk about how horrible it was. Love how humble he is and hope he stays that way!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
