I've seen that 3 nights in a row on that tour. All riffs in that solo are either parts of songs or intro's, some at the time this was recorded had yet to be recorded for an album.
Do yourself a favor. Watch the whole video without taking your eyes off of the screen-you will be even more blown away than you were, not seeing half the stuff he does. G.O.A.T.
The part where he using the volume control, he is making the guitar sound like a cello not a piano. This part is called Cathedral taken from the Diver Down album
This is a great reaction to this. Can you Imagine hearing this in in 1978 for the first time? The Beethoven of rock n roll composing, a virtual genius in his own right. A step above the rest. This solo is a composition of several different pieces of music written between the early 70’s @‘73-1986 at this present time of the solo you’re witnessing. Songwriter, technician, innovator, and excellent performer. And he does it all with such a warm smile. 10,000 hours is a drop in the bucket he had practicing and innovating to achieve his tone and style. 👍
Eddie's playing an ad-libbed mashup of several of his album solos, and there's usually one on each album. Eruption was on the band's debut album, "Van Halen", and it came from a violin-style warmup Eddie used to get ready to play. Producer Ted Templeman heard Ed playing and INSISTED they cut a track for the album. It's only around a minute and a half long, but the minute anyone heard it back in 1978, they instantly knew that the entire mountain of Rock N Roll music had just been pivoted on a dime and launched into a whole new direction. Millions of wannabe Eddie Van Halens sprouted up ftom nowhere overnight. Millions of guitars stores suddenly stopped hearing Stairway to Heaven, that perennial solo replaced by those wannabes trying to play Eruption. Check out his albums, where his songwriting and riffing will blow your mind.
EVH, SRV and Hendrix are indeed all considered absolute guitar gods. Jimmy was only 27 when he died and Stevie was 35. Imagining what might have been blows my mind.
I’d like to suggest you listening to Led Zeppelin. Try their live performance at Earls Court (1975) In My Time Of Dying, I guarantee it will blow your mind. Guitarist Jimmy Page plays the hell out of a steel guitar, the rest of the band will blow your mind too.
Dude...........if you want your ''"""channel"""" to become a""" Thing""" it's best to forget whatever it is your doing on the side channel thing or whatever it is your doing! And react to thee artist .
This is awesome, its always better the second time, EVH is freaking awesome, he makes his guitar smoke, those fingers wow, this is mind blowing, yeah I had this on my list for you to play but Steve beat me to it, in my top ten, yes leaves you speechless, totally mesmerized, only gets better, Mr Doge is in heaven, wow, 😲😲😲, hey watch that potty mouth, lol lol, Mr Doge is losing it, what the french toast lol lol, i forgot about that, lol lol, for people who don't know the orange's are for when Mr Doge pauses during the video, lol lol, I'm exhausted just watching him, yes wow, 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️, OMG that was awesome I still can't believe it, thank you.

Paco De Lucia puts them all to shame.
He experimented by building his guitars to his specifications to get the sounds he wanted
My favorite part is a part NOBODY talks about is where he plays the BACK OF THE GUITAR!!! 8:33
What legendary smoke O’s

🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
He was also so wasted at this concert he doesn't even remember it
One note do not ever pause a guitar solo
Jimmy Page of led Zeppelin
Eddie is bad to the bone!
Fun fact: Eddie Van Halen was entirely self taught and was not good at reading music.
Indeed, he couldn't read sheet music, even when he played the piano first before playing drums and then guitar.
That was not eruption
Don't be pausing it in the middle of the solo, wait for a break in play. 😠
🥲
