I just randomly found your channel. As a kid, I was always fascinated about rocks. I used to get the rocks where I played pinto baseball and brought them home. I still have a cool black shiny rock that I have till this day....hahahaha.
I came across your video and now I'm hooked, I've been looking for places to go rockhounding as I moved to northwestern az. I've asked people where to go get some rocks, but everyone is hush-hush about telling me where to go. It's like a secret and they can't tell me anything, even in the rock shops.. I want to thank you for telling us where to go to get some beautiful rocks. It's not like I'm going to plunder the entire desert either. Lol, I'm just an average person that loves rockhounding. (Well, I am kinda weird!) Lol 😂 🙏
I grew up around Camelback Mountain. I really miss Arizona. I’m so glad I found your video. I’m looking forward to seeing more. ✌️😃 The stones are beautiful. And I’m so glad that you kept the round white one 😊
I’m not originally from Arizona but I’m so glad I live here! Thank you so much for watching! I’m planning on making the round white one into a little pendant sometime soon!
I love saddle mountain! Thank you for sharing! Next time, you should try going up to the part of the mountain that’s discolored when you look with a map - right up next to the mountain kinda close to the petroglyphs
Awesome Opposum; I AM camped there and have been exploring the valley it's Incredible. I sing and hum and the Faerie show me who wants to Go and find their people. I need a UV light I have seen folks hunting at night and the Opal shows up easily
Wow, that’s pretty cool. I go out in the desert all the time in Tucson. I never see anything like that very few but I will look next time I go out which will probably be tomorrow. Cool video.😊
Thanks for sharing! We live in NW Peoria on the other side of the mountain. We go off-roading with our SXS, and find a lot of pink quarts, but have never found agates. We'll have to go over to that side of the mountains to look for some. When you say Saddle mountain are you referring to the area by Lake Pleasant? TIA!
That's fun! Like you said slow down! I Find if I hold one of the better one's in my hand and occasionally look at it, it kinda refreshes my eye's! You know after looking/squinting and bending over every couple feet it's easy to lose perspective! Count to 10, take a sip, look at the rock in your hand... usually you'll not go far before your squint vision normalizes and you are back on track! I love to tumble and carnelians are about one of my favorites. We have a few here in Washington state and their butes! Carry on young sir and have fun bounty as You See It.
I live in Peoria, AZ the New River Trail is basically my back yard. I am finding what I believe is carnelian. Light passes through. Shape round to flat oval.. little pieces and bigger. How do tell if it's quart or carnelian. Also finding agates grey/blue insides. Excellent channel 👏 we should rockhound sometime.
Thanks for watching! Quartz will sparkle along the areas it’s broken while carnelian and agates will have areas that may look like broken glass with a rounded inward swoop (conchoidal fracture).
@@KevinLovesRockhounding When you mention conchoidal fracture are talking about the quartz? Or the Carnelian. I found some awesome stones today. White stone had dimples on one side and crystals cluster on Otherside. Small Geode I believe. What if the Carnelian is not broken but smooth and rounded. How would you know not quartz. Your awesome whenever you have time to reply. So much jasper, and agate. I like the ones that are blue/Grey inside agate. Thank you
Dear Kev ... Hello....nice to watch your video!!.... I'm new to rock hounding .buuuut it sounds very fascinating!... But I had a question come to mind midway your vid ....what do you do with all the cool rocks you find?? 🤔 Thank you Kevin and anyone else with any cool ideas! Also....I need a video on how to identify the different types ....gems this that and the other....I am completely new to this, thank you!
I just found and subscribed to your channel today! I've never been able to rockhound in Arizona but I'm looking forward to watching your videos and someday making a trip down there to find some of nature's treasures!
Nice..are there a lot of scorpions and snakes to avoid? So how far from the road were you and is there any way I could get to that location if I wanted to. Where in Arizona was that, neat a city? Looks like some good finds there. How many hours were you out there looking? So is it just certain parts of the desert that have the agates or are they everywhere or more toward those mountain like structures. I think I got to do some research I don't want to come back empty handed if I go there.
I personally don’t know anyplace that doesn’t involve a lot of climbing, however, I personally love going through washes and other rocky areas to find goodies. As long as you’re aware of conditions and flash flood dangers when you go out you might find some amazing stuff nearby.
We just hit saddle mountain today and he's not kidding about the agate and quartz every other step. We will be gounf back soon since it's cooler now.
Especially after the recent rainfalls!!!

There’s nothing like the carnelians from the PNW! They were my first ever finds growing up! Thanks for watching.
In live in Peoria az . I would love to go rock hounding with you for my first time .

Cool
Ok. I'm coming😂
How do you get your agates so clean?
I would love to come tag along with you. I'd be picking up everything. I might annoy you, Lmao! 😂
'How can I say no to that?'
Right?
LOL 😅😅😅
There are two saddle mountains in Arizona! Are you at the one near mesa or flagstaff?
This one is west of Phoenix, near Tonopah.
what main road is this off of?
Do you know where to look in Southeastern AZ for agates? I can't climb up any mountains anymore 😟
I personally don’t know anyplace that doesn’t involve a lot of climbing, however, I personally love going through washes and other rocky areas to find goodies. As long as you’re aware of conditions and flash flood dangers when you go out you might find some amazing stuff nearby.
Perhaps the most important lesson your prospecting teaches us is to slow down and focus on your surroundings. It could save the world....
What does he spray on the rocks ?
Just water!
People who get mad because he missed over 109 fire Gates
0:17 I have that I mean all of those
👇
Little less Adderall dude...
Not so fast bring the rock up closer slow too much slow real slow
Thanks for the feedback!
