    Saddle Mountain is an amazing gift from God! I've been out there on the weekends and just stood there. It's so quiet, it's totally surreal. Just a beautiful place and thanks for sharing!

      I so agree! I wish I could have stayed there longer. I was totally alone and it had a presence about it that I can't describe. So peaceful and, as you put it, surreal. Then the stunning sunset was icing on the cake. I look forward to going back. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    At 11:24 as you are going up the hill I see shadows in the land that look like large concentric circles. Is that an area that has old rock art ruins around there? In the condition they appear to be very old if they are. What a great haul with the Fire Agates. I absolutely love the chalcedony shapes you found. I have a collection of them. The soft faint pink and the gentle organic forms they have make them feel like the most feminine rock there is. I have one that looks like an angel how it was formed, several that have the female form in their composition, and a few that look like ears and other

      Hi there! Your description of the chalcedony found there is spot on!
      Regarding the concentric circles; I was very curious when I saw them and wondered the same thing you are wondering. So I walked over and investigated and discovered, sadly, tire tread marks. Ugh! Somebody drove in circles there. I try so hard to respect the land so that others can enjoy it too. I think most people do. But sadly there are those few who do not.
      Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Darn it I was hoping you found something ancient. Wouldn't that be fun! I enjoy your videos greatly. Keep up the great work. About the Chalcedony, I'm trying to figure out how to display them so they look like small sculptures.

      Drop these coordinates into your maps app and it should take you right there. Explore all around these coordinates. Walk or drive and explore other places around them. The variety and quality of the agates changes from place to place, sometimes within just a few hundred yards. Good Luck! See below;

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge. You're doing some heavy breathing. What is the elevation?

    • @adventuresofshadowdog
      @adventuresofshadowdog  2 місяці тому +1

      The elevation is about 3,000 feet. But I think the problem is more where I placed the microphone. I’ve since moved it because it was amplifying my breathing and made me sound like I was about to pass out! But thank you for caring enough to ask. And thanks for watching!

    Arizona is an amazing place to search for all types of rock, and I am also I am a Arizona fire agate/botryoidal chalcedony collector 👍 and fun fact, one of my more unique fire agatae specimens is shaped like a cartoon thumb 😂

    What specific brand and model is Shadow’s GPS tracker? My dog is the same size and I should get one. Would you recommend that one or do you plan to buy something different?

      Garmin Pro 550 Plus + TT15 Mini Dog Collar. Check out the Garmin website to learn about them. There are lots of options and it can get confusing. I like this Combo because I can track, send signals, and even turn on the LED lights on the collar to help locate him at night. Garmin is a bit expensive. But I couldn’t bear to lose Shadow so it’s worth it to me. I hope this helps!

    Awesome video, as always. Do you work in the sciences, if you don't mind my asking, or did you learn about astrophotography and geology as hobbies?

    • @adventuresofshadowdog
      @adventuresofshadowdog  8 місяців тому +3

      Hello Eric! Your question is one that I ponder often myself. I’ve always loved the sciences, even when very young. In college I took several courses in the sciences, including geology, but actually majored in Accounting and Japanese. My first job out of college was with Price Waterhouse, but after three years there as a CPA I was l hired by a Japanese Optical company as they needed a bilingual finance guy. There I learned a ton about lenses, light, how light refracts and how optics work, etc. Even though I was working in the finance side of things, I learned a ton. After 7 years with them I was hired by a British Optical firm that had a new lens invention and wanted to roll the product out across the USA. I’ll keep this part short, but while working with them I had the opportunity to work with a brilliant Oxford professor who invented several amazing lens products. Again, although primarily working in the finance side, I was fortunate to be in on much of the science and engineering side of things. Maybe I jumped in on the sciences side deeper than I needed, but they let me and I loved to learn the stuff. Well as you know, light and optics play a huge role in astrophotography. Astronomy was always a hobby of mine and with my experience working with optics, it was a natural progression to get into astrophotography. Now the geology side of things has been more of a self education through the years following the courses in geology that I took in college. The reason I ponder this question is I often wonder, if I could do it all over again, if I would choose a science field versus accounting in college. Then again, it was the accounting degree that opened so many doors to experience and learn amazing things in the science fields. Life is such a mystery how it unfolds.
      Sorry for the long winded response. Thanks so much for asking the question. And thanks for watching. Take care!
