I wish there was more to this, even just a comment bark addressing his kidnapping after reuniting with him. Like why can't we actually just rescue him instead of him rescuing himself regardless of whether he fails or succeeds the roll?
yes. I didn't exit the building with him on purpose. Instead I had my team come after him so that they can meet there. I expected at least a single unique line or something. But he said nothing. It's just the usual "So this is it. I am home..." It's not addressed that he was kidnapped.
@@MGamingVideos Act 3 feels unfinished in a lot of ways. Hopefully in the definitive edition they'll add more unique dialogue when specific things happen, like this!
@@twistedelegance_ I wouldn't say that Act 3 is an afterthought, because it's just as long as Act 1, maybe longer, with so many things to find and do. However, it does suffer from a feeling of lack of completeness in certain areas, as if they forgot about some potential outcomes and didn't fully flesh them out.
I think it's better he rescues himself anyway. It shows how far he's come, and overcomes Cazador's will on his own, despite the memories...he is a capable, independent person now. That honestly means a lot more than a "rescue mission" like he's some damsel.
Bro on my 3rd play I discovered the hag support group and was shaking after learning of ethels come back. I knew she'd be back considering what she said with myrina but I didn't expect to meet her where and how I did
Imagine, astarion gets kidnapped in the night, you spend the next few hours prepping and storming the castle, by the time you bust the front door down hes just a vampire ascendant about to walk out the door
As much as I feel overprotective towards him, I find it great for the plot that he needs no more saviors; he can totally protect himself. Such an empowering moment! Still, my heart breaks watching this scene 💔
This is a first for me. I'm always so adamant about destroying the spawn when they come for Astarion in camp. I've said this every day this past week and I'll say it again.. You learn something new every day
Well, you already have to free him, from Cazador when you try to stop the ritual. But maybe the developers thought, twice is too much In any case, if he doesn’t even react,,that’s a bit poor.
I am so ragefully protective of him that I did 2 runs so far and each time I slaughtered anyone coming for him lol… never even considered the idea of losing against these spawn or getting him captured. I’d just savescum and try again until it works. But it’s interesting that his story can go on and it’s not an automatic halt for it. Wish there was a line for after you rescue him at Cazador’s palace though. I suppose that’ll be fixed with patches, going further on.
On my first play through this happened, because some random Deva attacked. Apparently I had ‘stolen’ something from the temple, when I in fact did not 😒. I’m just glad I’m a scum saver. So I waited and then did a random short rest, got them in the middle of the street. The Steel Watch helped me defeat them 😂
Even after patches 3 act still s_cks) Because of this gaps. No reaction after kidnapping....NO REACTION OF ASTARION??? it's just impossible. like nothing happened. Just... casual chit chat after a small ... unpleasant case)
This entire part of the quest seems so weird and just- idk not fully thought through? You'd think if the spawn captured Astarion, Cazador would be in the Kennels immediately and like- being Cazador 💀 yet he doesn't make an appearance. And yes- Astarion can resist Cazadors will now but you'd think they'd have taken measures to make sure bro can't leave. The lack of dialogue after meeting up with him, the lack of well- anything. It's just odd
I never used him because i was playing rogue on my first playthrough and didnt want two rogues. one day he was gone. When i found him here, he'd been reanimated as a zombie :'(
Why are people so obsessed with saving him? His entire character arc is coming into his own person and making his own decisions. He literally stands up against one of his abusers and defies both him and Cazador's will. I just don't really get why you would want to undo all that growth? Just to feel like you are coming to his rescue? He's not a child. He's very capable. They did a really good job with this scene. I wish he'd least comment on it after, but the option to "rescue" would be a blow to his character arc.
@@tiph3802 You can do that without romancing him. I personally feel kind of uncomfortable with his romance because of all his sexual trauma and other control based abuse. If you steer slightly out of line with him he does break up with you over it too. I’m not saying people who have trauma are unloveable but I’m not sure it’s imperative to his story and growth to need a romantic partner.
I'm wondering, can you rescue him with the party before he tries himself ? Would we have another dialogue ? Maybe intentionally fail the battle vs Godey ?
I hope neither the people commenting it like that nor their loved ones ever have to endure the violence Astarion has faced, and that no one ever will watch them suffering and tell them it's 'hot'. The Godey fight was so lame that I wish they had just made it a cutscene of Astarion putting his fist through that skull.

Probably because a big part of people enjoying Astarion’s romance is already this “I can fix him” & “I can save him” mentality 💀

I wonder what happens if you fail the saving throw
that scene plays out at 8:45
I wonder if some of the dialog is different romanced or as origin
Wonder if you can leave the conversation or in the middle of the fight and move the tav to save him, maybe that would trigger the dialogue?
