Just a futher cautionary tail regarding jet lag. After a mere 5 hr flight east from Vancouver to Toronto. Driving the additional 2 hrs home from the airport I too felt wide awake and alert. I have felt much more tired driving many times before. HOWEVER! I learned quickly that Jet Lag is a very real thing even if you think it is not affecting you. While feeling perfectly alert, I realized thatI HAD DRIVEN RIGHT PAST MY EXIT and had to continue for another 10 minutes to the next overpass to turn around and head back home. I then suddenly realized that I HAD DRIVEN PAST MY EXIT AGAIN! I drove an extra 40 minutes to get home that night. I will never underestimate the affects of jet lag again and that is why I scheduled a full day walking tour of Reykjavík, before even picking up bike in Iceland despite having only 6 days till the flight home. We had to cut a large chunk out of our itinerary due to lack of time, but I never for one moment regreted that first day. On a bike, one moment of lost concentration can ruin, not only an entire trip, but all the trips to come. Please take care Runa, I want to be still following your adventures when I am unable to ride anymore myself.

So good to see all those beautiful green rolling hills again, such interesting landscape, I felt like I was back there again for another holiday. In 2002, my first visit to NZ, I was shocked to see about 30 roadkill in about 1km on the road near Queenstown and was also told they were Possum. At one point I read NZ had about 80 million feral possums. There was a thriving trade of possum products in the souvenir shops on the south island, like possum fur socks etc, but very expensive. Thanks in advance for all the hours of editing you are doing to share these terrific NZ videos, love it. 'Till the next one, cheers Runa. 🤩🤩🦘🦘🦘
I missed your videos Runa. Great you are doing something COMPLETELY different. I think the "fluffy" vegetation you showed us we have a lot of here in North Carolina and it's called Pampus Grass. I wonder if it's the same...enjoy your trip. Will be watching
This will be super interesting to follow! 👍 I noticed the bird on the pole there at the end (around 27m19s). It looked quite similar to some of the Pipits that we have up here on the other half of the world. Bet you will be able to see/hear lots of birds that is nowhere close to what we have. Like Kea, Kakapo or maybe even Kiwi.
I hope you’ll like journey 😄 There sure were a lot of different birds there, and I heard and saw the Kea’s multiple times! It’s fascinating how New Zealand and the Nordic countries are similar in many ways, yet so different in others!
@@OffSheGoesADV Oh that's sweeeet! Also noticing your comment in the other reply on how there are similarities in the nature to what we have here: I fully and completely agree! Some of the hills I saw in this first video was just like "Brösarps backar" (roughly 60 km to the southeast of where we met last year) just multiplied a few hundred times. It is an amazing place when you can be on the ski slopes in the morning, and then on the beach in the afternoon and you only have to ride/drive a fairly short distance or go from the south island to the north. I am so happy for you, what a place I’ve always read about and nothing could be better than exploring it all on two wheels, you are a wonderful host that’s why I like following you, your attitude about all is what motorcycling is all about, as we say here in the states, it’s not about the destination it’s about the journey, be safe out there, there is another person I follow and is an Australian, he to has left the mainland to explore New Zealand, his name is Joe Rogan I think is his last name, tent camper, maybe you two will cross paths, you take care and enjoy this amazing place. Rob U.S.
Been looking forward to this series and a great start. I toured the North Island over 10 years ago and loved it. My 901 is in the garage ready for some mini adventures here in Scotland
Runa! Awsome that we are finally getting to see what you were up to in NZ. I was a bit concerned that you jumped right on the bike immediately after a 36 hr flight. Especially when switching to driving on the left. I have only done two motorcycle trips involving 5-6 hr East/West flights. In both cases, I planned the first day off the bike to adapt to jetlag and recover from the flight. I was glad to see that you were not driving in traffic that first day.
Hi Greg! It's good to be back, hopefully on a regular basis 😃 I too, was concerned about jumping on the bike so quickly, but I felt surprisingly well rested after getting some good sleep on the flights! Luckily it all went well 😊

Yay! I've been waiting for this ever since you announced you were going to New Zealand. I've been lucky enough to take a couple of motorcycle trips there and it's my favorite place in the world. You've already ridden some very familiar roads, and I look forward to following you on this trip! Thanks for taking us along!
Welcome to our country. You are going to love the South Island.
The cicadas in Cambridge are so noisy!! Great adventure video 👍
Brilliant video again! I’m sure it will get even better when you reach the South Island. I rented a motorbike in February 2010 for two weeks camping in the South Island. Really looking forward to seeing more. You make fantastic videos with great detail, very pleasant to watch. Well done you. 👏👏👏👏
Thank you very much! Hope you had a great time when you were there as well 😊
I am so happy for you, what a place I’ve always read about and nothing could be better than exploring it all on two wheels, you are a wonderful host that’s why I like following you, your attitude about all is what motorcycling is all about, as we say here in the states, it’s not about the destination it’s about the journey, be safe out there, there is another person I follow and is an Australian, he to has left the mainland to explore New Zealand, his name is Joe Rogan I think is his last name, tent camper, maybe you two will cross paths, you take care and enjoy this amazing place. Thanks Runa! Beautiful video! Safe travels! 💕jul and family
Man just amazing 🤩🤩
Been looking forward to this series and a great start. I toured the North Island over 10 years ago and loved it. My 901 is in the garage ready for some mini adventures here in Scotland
That’s fantastic, I’m curious to see if it looks the same as when you were there 😄 Scotland looks stunning as well!
Luckily it all went well 😊
Awesome first episode Runa. Can't wait to see how the trip continues.
Thank you 😃 Looking forward to sharing with you guys!
Welcome back Runa! Happy to see you flew to the other side of the world! Have as much fun as you can!!🤩🤩🤩👍

@@larrykaminski3269 Oh, me too and everyone else. 🤔
That landscape reminds me of the Yorkshire dales. ( minus the limestone walls)
Awesome, you make very good videos and ride the bike very well.

It's good that your New Zealand series is coming out now and not in the winter. I'm getting travel fever from seeing this now. But seeing this in wintertime had made the fever boil over 🤣
Hahaha, I’m glad the delay is good for something 😂
Great video, good to see Sue & Graeme, what legends.
Great to see you back on the road. I wish you a safe travel and great roads!
