Initially affordable. Once you hit 50k not so much. When you buy any German brand, especially a performance model, you need to set aside a nice chunk of money for "those days". It happens much more often than most other cars.
Buying this car a few months ago configured with the DCT was the best decision I ever made. The things that standout to me the most (especially coming from owning all kinds of mustangs throughout the years including the newest GT350) is how stable it is at high speeds of 120-160mph... Absolutely PHENOMENAL suspension compliance while at speed and hitting bumps too. The other is how balanced the car is in turns, never been in ANYTHING that takes turns like this car.

The DCT is blistering fast in its shifts. Much faster than a PDK. I love my manual shift cars but the DCT is just so freaking fast and effortless in putting the power down. Launch control will have you laughing uncontrollable and leave your passengers terrified. The entire package checks all the boxes and will never get old.

You need to go back to a 997/996 to get some of the last "drivers cars" Dont get me started with the 992 fake exhaust openings and door handles. I could go on and on how the 992 is really what the 928 set out to achieve. I have owned 30 years of 911's so that should speak volumes in where Porsche is taking the 911.

Nice review as always! Beautiful paint on this car and fantastic performance! And I agree this maybe the best M car you can buy. However, I still prefer the exterior styling, interior, AWD 4 matic and exhaust sound of the c43 coupe. I realize the M2C is faster and would be better at the track but for about the same money the c43 checks more boxes as a daily driver imo. Great to have so many great choices out there!

You failed to mention the 3.0 I6 in the Competition version is the S55 from the M3/M4 but de-tuned a bit. The seats are also from the M4 but with the unique colored venting. Although correct, they're not cooled. PS I just did a 700 mile long weekend in mine including Tail of the Dragon in miserable weather. I got 24.5 mpg despite all the fun roads and mountain drives.

jamienharv yeah but as an owner of a manual M2 comp I can tell you in terms of interaction and the trade off with useable power it’s definitely a car that benefits from a manual box. I’m in Scotland where we have a lot of twisty roads but even so.....
Sash Naumoski a beast yes, but it proved to be poor when it came to reliability. Had around $25,000 worth of post warranty repairs to keep it on the road. A crack developed in the air inlet manifold requiring replacement, both headlights failed, the infotainment failed and the list goes on.

Just like a Gurney flap is stuck to a wing. I know that you like the BMW M2 as you mentioned, in my opinion, I like the BMW M4 just because there's probably enough room for people to sit in a back and a more aggressive styling with the headlights and taillights.
I don't know that the M4 has appreciably more room in the back than the M2. I'm 5'8" so, not that tall, but I fit behind myself perfectly in my M2 comp. My head does not touch the roof and my legs do not touch the seat in front of me. Its certainly not spacious back there, but i'm not sure the M4 is any better. The M4 has a much bigger trunk though, and I think there's more front seat space in the 4-series.
Hey Raiti, quick fact check this car is specced with the Professional Media package or Navigation which is the 8.8" screen not the 6.6 apart from that great video!
Having driven this, It is just a brilliant drivers car, you do not need any other M car. This for me is on par with the 1M coupe for just pure driving experience.
Always watching on these M2's. Drove a used BMW Red 90/91 M3 and have been chasing that feeling since. Amazing how well that thing handled as it felt like an extension of me. nes suno I had the choice to build one of the last M2 LCI’s or wait a couple of months and get the new M2 Comp., it was a no brainer given what is important to me. I’m about sound with these types of cars and the N55 sound is SO MUCH better than the S55. It’s a great car with plenty of power. You can’t go wrong with either one.
@@blueberrycobbler yeah, they may be closely matched, but the M2C is the full M (not an M235i on steroids) that the original wasn't and up top it has grunt that the more nimble original cannot match (even an M240i with its B58 is close to the original now). If you are in Europe, I agree about the noise differences but in North America or other export markets, it's marginal. Besides, we are comparing a single-turbo to a twin-turbo that had to meet tougher emission controls.

5 ZONKS: Seems like you drove in Sport+ but DCT not in fastest mode and no mention of steering mode (both controlled separately). Dashboard "silver trim" is aluminium as are paddles touch surfaces. Steering wheel is not standard (but oddly shaped option). Pedals can be optioned to full M aluminium set. Those "radio buttons" are touch-sensitive shortcuts to many functions and not just radio stations (e.g. tyre pressure monitor or performance gauges)

The only exception is an executive package that costs around a grand and adds wireless charging and some fancy headlights. Some people pay a bunch more for the DCT gearbox, but almost no M2 competitions are ordered with the M Driver's package which simply raises the top speed of the car. Most are not equipped with a sunroof either. And that's it. That's every single option you can pay more for on an M2 competition.
I like that they still offer a manual.but it's competition is a c8. Z51 about the same price as this.I think corvette beats it by a second 0-60.better mpg better Trac time & more exotic.but it is nimble.
All my frustration goes away when I watch your reviews because I love cars and you are the one to watch for reviews .

Last year I sold my 2011 C-63 and bought one of these. Have owned multiple M cars over the years and are happy to be back at BMW.
2011 C63 is a beast. Will be a very sought after car in years to come. Some have already started going back up in price here in Melbourne.

M2 or Shelby Mustang GT350, both with Manuals?
The m2 starting at 58k and the m340i starting at 55k are 2 really good values from BMW.

You need to clarify that the top speed you said is only if you get the M Drivers pkg. standard is 155
I like that they still offer a manual.but it's competition is a c8. Z51 about the same price as this.I think corvette beats it by a second 0-60.better mpg better Trac time & more exotic.but it is nimble.
If everyone drove around in C8 Corvettes all day the world would be very boring!
