Is it WORTH buying a 2020 BMW M4 or WAIT for the 2021 REDESIGN?

- It's the FINAL year of the current generation BMW M4. Is it now or never to go an get one? Under the hood is a 3.0L turbocharged straight-6 pumping out 425HP & mated to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT. It's exterior is unmistakable BMW with it's aggressive front end and kidney shaped grills. On the inside you will find a cabin that has high end materials and tons of tech. Is it worth BUYING a 2020 BMW M4 or Wait for the redesign?

It's always a safe bet to grab up a car at the end of its run knowing most of the bugs have been worked out.
That is so very true!
A BMW? The bugs are never worked out and when the warranty ends, the bugs cost a fortune!

The problem is the amount of plastic that using the engine if you're going to get one and can find one lease it
@@garynapoli3042 True. If someone is hell bent on a German car. Lease it so you can drive it a few years and get it out of your system, and you don't have to worry about any of those bugs since you don't own it. Audi, BMW, Mercedes, VW.

A good friend of mine in my group of friends had an ‘16 M4. We’ve got GTs, SS, and a hellcat and this group and this thing was giving all of us a whooping. Amazing amazing car.
Nice review, I have a 2018 M4 Comp. Couple of points you missed though.
The HUD does have a gear display and Rev counter, you just have to configure it to the mode you are in.
Also this is a competition pack so it has 450hp not 425hp.

I was lucky enough to get a 2020 M4 with the Competition Pack last October in manual with the carbon ceramic breaks (I had no choice on this option because of the color combo I wanted, white with the orange interior was not easy to find). It's been almost a year now and owning this car actually makes me look forward to my daily commute to work. Starting it cold every morning feels like an event every time and always puts a smile on my face. I intentionally did not want to get the 2021 model , because I am not a fan of all digital dash displays and like the simplicity of the analog dash to go along with a manual transmission. 90k? why is it 90k? The performance is nice but not 90k nice, the interior is nice but not 90k nice. Should be like 70k imo. This is 90k for status and status alone lets be honest.

The Heads Up display is programmable and does more than mentioned here. Any one of the M Mode buttons on the steering wheel will add a Tach and a gear indicator to the Heads Up display. Don't have to wish for it, just have to know how to operate the features

The thing is, the new I6's from BMW are amazingly easy to get power out of them. You can easily get another 200hp by just an ECU reflash.

They make a lid for the cup holders, I agree, I got the lid as soon as I got the car. After driving my RA, I hate how the Recaro does not bolster you as the M4 seats do. The M4 seats are also stock Recaro but just without the indication of such. At least what I got from an online source. The M4 seats hold you so well. I noticed this immediately every time I switch from the RA over to my M4. Great review!

I always loved the m4 and I have seen photos of the new redesign, however I’m not sure 🤔 if I like it ... bmw definitely did something similar to the x5 series with their new redesign grill last year and it took me a while to like it ... after seeing it in person few times I did begin to like it ... so I feel it will take time .. bottom line is as long as it handles better and sounds better I’m good with it
You can change the head up display in ur iDrive . M display is amazing . Shows ur speed and gear and tackometer

Good video, please push the buttons and see what happens on HUD. It has gear and rev counter when in M1-2 modes. Also displays the navigation and route turns crisply. There are so many functions in this car. Pity you didn’t review these, it would have been a great video otherwise

The usb is just above the ashtray and the cup holders do come with a lid
There is a lid in the glovebox for the cupholders.

My favourite German automotive brand... And BMW M4 is my favourite besides the E60 M5 👍👍other BMW models have oversized grille but this one it fits just perfect. The line on the side view is sexy I must say... Interior is very beautiful and neat. Analog speedometer is what I like. Not a fan of digital speedometer though. The 2021 model has the headlights design just like the M8(is this considered as a spoiler? I don't think it is 😂). Really beautiful. Going to buy one soon (M4)!
"Coolant Temperature Gauge" is actually the Oil Temp Gauge. HUD can display gears, RPMs, music info, and more through the iDrive config settings. Good review on how it feels but get the facts right. Nice car!
They are suppose to have cover over the cupholder they must have taken it out but it does come with cover

I was just dealing with this dealership for the MR M4 but couldn't agree on a price. Torn between waiting for the next gen.If the huge grills are a permanent fixture on the 2021(check out bimmerpost), I'll be grabbing one of these after the next gen reveal.

It’s odd that BMW left the older style cup holders in the M4. The LCI 3 Series from 2016-up got a new covered design.
Horsepower on the Competition Package in 444 horsepower, CS Package in 454 horsepower.
Review the 2020 M4 M heritage edition in red if you can find one!

2020 BMW M340i x drive running 0-60 3.7-3.8 1/4 mile consistent 12.08.... 20k$+ less, same times as M4.. anything past those numbers and around a road course M4 eats it up. problem is the G20 3 series m340i especially, no more manual but, updated digitized interior very similar power, no M stigma, but very tunable with that B58 .. likes and love of M3/M4 are love and hate the exhaust note on the M4❤️.. I would take mine in the 6 speed though all day long. give it 6 months and this similar car that will be sitting at the BMW dealer will be half price.. hopefully the dust settles after the corona virus scare, and market plunging.. stay safe people

Actually, Harmon Kardon sound system is standard not optional. Might have to stick with the F8x platform the G8x is horrible

Hi Joe, I used to really enjoy owning the BMW M3 products. I've owned 3 of them since 1998. Now that Alfa Romeo has returned, its all Giulia for me. The Germans just don't have the styling and elegance of the 110 year old Italian masterpieces from Alfa Romeo. The Quadrifoglios are faster and out perform the M cars now. I could be mistaken, but I don't think BMW uses Brembo brakes on any of their cars? In the past, they have not for sure.

Admiral Ackbar i own a 2018 m4 competition. If you are getting one, i highly recommend the competition package. These cars are super livable daily and just do everything so well. After a year of owning it, I’m ready for a stage 1 tune and eventually will be doing a stage 2. These cars are super reliable no joke. On the forum you will see many people echo the same thoughts. I have seen people with 200k miles with mostly standard maintenance work and just wear and tear items.

Admiral Ackbar I’m not gonna lie to you and say that it’s smooth cuz it’s not. It’s no Mercedes but it’s good for a sports car. It’s not super rough but you will definitely feel the bumps and potholes. Nothing too crazy though.
