Like others have said, I look forward to this series every year, for me for the exercise in reflection you encourage your viewers to undertake with you. It's so easy to kind of jump around to the newest shiniest thing and forgo the stuff that you love! Plain old cetaphil moisturizer for me works AND works to heal my poor skin when I go astray
This is my favorite video of yours every year, Matilda. I especially loved the hand care section. I really want to prioritize caring for my nails and cuticles at home this year, and that Chanel cuticile oil looks so lovely. Thanks for sharing your favorites!
So happy to hear this, thank you for giving the Hair & Body category some love! 😄❤️ I also shared a separate manicure/hand hydration video last year in case any other formulas catch your eye there x
hi Matilda, I’d recommend trying some Korean haircare one day! The DR.ForHair deep damage treatment and minisence perfect serum changed my ends! (I also love the Apieu rasberry vinegar treatment + hair mist)
oooh what’s the raspberry vinegar line for? i like asian haircare products a lot but haven’t tried that many different things, and asian hair products have a lot more options i think for hair that isn’t bleach/dye damaged but still has some issues
@@myfanwydavies I have oily roots and the vinegar is really good at keeping oil at bay and the scalp healthy (I think some people with dry hair liked it always best to check reviews!) + I like the hair mist becuase my hair is super fine and using the hair serum too much would weight it down + my also holds smell really well so I need the mist to combat cooking smells, the mist smells like raspberries and is so good!
@@parisx1698 ahh thanks so much!! i have dry hair so i wash my hair once a week without needing to use dry shampoo, but i do get scalp buildup, irritation, and flaking issues so will look into the vinegar line for that
I got the lanolips gold dry skin salve four years ago when I was on my first round of accutane and I had seen your recommendation for it as a lip balm, and it to this day is the best lip balm I’ve ever tried- and after being on accutane twice I consider myself to be a lip balm connoisseur. I give this to all my friends who are on accutane or another drying medication, or who just have dry lips!! You have saved so many people of painful chapped lips with your lip balm recommendations 🫶🫶
Wow, this is amazing Sonnie! So happy to hear that good old Golden has been such a big help for you and your friends. It always saves my lips when they're in trouble too - I'd trust it with my life *and* lips at this point! Thank you for helping me spread the word about it 😄👏 x
In 2024, I would love to see you do something similar to the very retro "if all my makeup disappeared" tag from like, 2014. What are your absolute beauty essentials that you CANNOT live without? I think my own top three would be a rosy cream blush, the Anastasia brow wiz and a hand cream.
I bought Monday shampoo and conditioner last July. It was really just a okey product, but the scent is quite lovely. I have used up the shampoo and still have quite a bit of conditioner left. I sometimes use the conditioner to condition my makeup brushes and it works quite well
Sorry to hear it wasn't a standout for you! Luckily it made an instant difference for me, I couldn't believe how soft and smooth my hair felt. I love the scent too! 🤍 x
Lip balms and hand creams are always a favourite of mine, I love to hear peoples recommendations. You should try Diors Abricot cuticle balm, I apply it at before bed as an overnight mask, nothing makes your cuticles softer!
This topic would be your specialty Keely! Absolutely, I love that Dior cuticle cream too 🍑 It made my annual favourites list last year and is still a treat to use on the couch, I'm savouring every last bit! x
I LOVE the necessaire eucalyptus body wash, thanks to your suggestions. I also got the eucalyptus deodorant and LOVE it as well. It smells so nice and isn't sticky. I jist REALLY wish they would make all the body products with the eucalyptus scent. I just don't use unscented anything except for my hands or lips.
So happy that you've posted a new video, Matilda! I dabbled in too many new skincare items in Jan, and combined with the terrible WA heat and horrible eating habits in Jan, my skin broke out real bad 😞 I purchased Avene cleanance during the priceline $10 cleanser sale and my skin found peace 🎉 Wishing you a fabulous 2024, looking forward to watch more videos from you (Skincare haul from LA please!!) ❤
Thank you Karen, it's great to be back! So glad to hear Cleanance managed to swoop in and save the day for you 💙 Several LA hauls are on the way, don't worry! x
I've recently bought the Klorane oat dry shampoo! I have asian black hair, so I was pleasantly suprised it didn't leave white powder on my hair, when used correctly.
I thought I want cut my hair thanks to u,I bought Monday shampoo my hair is so dry I feel so happy now . please recommend me hair oil or anything for dry scalp 🙏
I discovered Virtue hair products last year. I use their full volumizing mousse on freshly washed towel dried hair, and dry with hair dryer. No crispy crunchy texture, just soft silky smooth hair. The shampoos are also great too. I also tried L'Occitane's Almond body balm. It's great for Winter dry skin without being heavy or greasy. The fragrance is comforting and lovely. Olverum's body cleanser is on my next to try list.
Ooh yes, Virtue products are lovely! My hairdresser has the brand in her salon and I always find myself saying 'what are you using? It smells amazing!' 👏💙 x
omg, rose scented comb?? i desperately need that. also really curious about the JVN air dry cream! avène’s xeracalm has been the top of my to try list for body care so now i definitely need to. i now really wish summer fridays had kept the old tube as i think i’d prefer it. i also started using baume de rose last year and am sooo obsessed with it!! thank you for another year of the best videos !!
Thank you Myfanwy! ☺️🌹 The rose comb is so cute - it doesn't smell that strong (it's not noticeable from afar / in your bag / on your hair) but I can still smell it up close a couple of years later, so it's just a nice touch and fun concept. I think Ibiza Hair make a lemon version as well! x
@@matildaonvideo i’m also really curious about your opinion of klorane’s shampoos and conditioners! they’re the only brand of shampoo i’ve used since discovering i’m allergic to a common surfactant in most other shampoos, but am curious as to your opinion as someone who likes klorane but can compare their products properly against others?
Luckily Ultra Violette is available on lots of international sites these days like Cult Beauty and Space NK, so hopefully they might ship to your country Ira! Monday Haircare is starting to have more stockists internationally too, and Go-To Skincare has US / UK / Europe / international options on their website ✈️🇦🇺 x
What does the Monday shampoo smell like? My hair is dry and has become much coarser as I have gotten older. The frizz has become a big issue that I just can't seem to solve.
Hi Erinn! The scent is listed as 'gardenia' but as a gardenia lover, I wouldn't have picked that specifically - it's just a nice sweet floral scent, slightly tropical too, but not crazy strong. To help with frizz and maintenance, I've also started getting a 'cellophane treatment' at my hairdresser which is a semi-permanent gloss (clear or tinted) that makes a huge difference to how smooth and shiny my hair is. It washes out in about 4-6 weeks. I've done it twice in the last 5 months but I can see why some people make it a regular appointment every 8 weeks or so! Ps. Love the cat in your profile photo 😻 x
Ooh I hadn't thought to try it on my cuticles! 💅 I usually like to layer a more nourishing balm first, then Vaseline / a high petrolatum lip balm can be great to lock in moisture x
Thank you! Great question, not the easiest style to keep clean 😂 I just use tweezers to remove any hairs that get stuck and rinse it under warm water. I've also seen people soak theirs in soapy water with shampoo, or buy tiny tools on Amazon to clean their hairbrushes x
Hey, thanks for the lovely reccomandations. I discovered a lot of my favourite products thanks to you. For example the clinique black honey gloss probably my favourite gloss of all time or the lisa eldrige gloss in muse (one of the few formulas that actually hydrate my lips, lipbalms included). This year I discovered shea my favourite conditioner from the body shop (the shea one). Are you familiar with the brand?
Thank you Miriam, this is so lovely to hear! Two beautiful gloss choices there 😍👏 I haven't tried any Body Shop hair products but I loved their flavoured lip balms when I was a teenager! x
I haven't tried Naturium before Lauren! I saw some products in Target when I was in the US recently but they were usually behind a locked cabinet and there wasn't anyone around to help so they didn't make it into my basket 😂 Hopefully one day! x
I look forward to this video every year! So fun to watch! I agree with the JVN air dry cream, now a staple in my routine. And the Summer Fridays lip balms are hard to beat. I love the brown sugar one❤
Certainly if you’re having to overuse dry shampoo between washes you should just be washing more with a gentler shampoo. The dry shampoo build up requires a harsher shampoo and just negates the benefits of infrequent washes.
All ok here Leah! As I only have to wash my hair every 3-4 days, I just meant that I get to test out dry shampoo more than someone who washes daily ☺️👍 Luckily I don't find Klorane leaves anywhere near as much build up as other formulas, and my Nécessaire and Monday shampoos are nice and gentle on my scalp! x
I’ve been seeing “Monday” and I didn’t know they’re a New Zealand product! I wonder if they are great for greasy/oily hair? My hair gets so greasy that’s why I wash mine every single night. It’s tough out here lol!
I couldn't find out where the company is based these days, but the founder is from New Zealand! 😄 I'm lucky that I only have to wash my hair every few days (sometimes longer, particularly if I'm wearing a baseball cap haha) but the Smooth shampoo still gives a great clean. I know they have other formulas for different hair focuses too, I think I've seen a Clarify range! x
