@@HIndo_671 sounds like you had the same problem i did after doing it twice our CR-V has been good. I should probably do it again. I think it should be done every 30-40000 miles i think i said it in the video i don't remember. Glad i could help you

This is a known issue for this generation CRV. The Honda dealer can actually re-program your computer to change shift points for the transmission and it’s supposed to help keep the trans cooler. I had it done (100$) and it helped for 40-50k miles, the shutter eventually came back anyway.

i read somewhere that when you drain the transmission the first time , you don't get all the fluid out. some old fluid remains in the torque converter ,the shudder will be less, but not completely gone. then after driving a hundred miles or so repeat the process of draining and refilling the transmission ( i know its a pain but your still saving a lot by not having to go to the dealer twice!) the shudder should be gone and your good for another 30-40 thousand

Do you prefer jack stands vs. ramps?
Great overall. Suggestion while you have all taking apart flush old fluid out and put new in. That nipple on transmission body - buy vinyl tube attach turn in car pump out 2 quarts. Turn off. Fill 2 new quarts. Repeat. Now entire fluid is clean. Have to keep MAS connect so air flow is sensed so car does not stall out. Why didn’t you do that? That’s really more important than doing the filter and it is so easy. . Thanks

@@DIYJIM - when you turn on the car it will pump out a quart in probably 10 seconds it’s fairly quick you can look through the windshield and see your bucket filling. You have to lead it a little but it’s very easy to get it pretty precisely and then just use the same bucket to fill it back up to the same level
@@seanm990 if you have any knowledge of this or even don’t initially the above instructions are pretty clear and will get you a much better end result. Sorry they are not clear for you

I'm a new owner of a used 2012 Honda CRV EXL for 17 days now and it's been problematic right from the get-go. It's stunners coming to a stop and it's stutters when accelerating from a stop. It is another reason they don't make that type of drive train anymore.
Around 100000 miles we had to put a new timing chain on. Hope it’s not that it’s not cheap.

Unlike Toyota...Honda recommends transmission fluid changes every 30,000 miles. I just found that out. We have 65,000. Also if you feel a slow speed shudder, Honda calls it a 'judder' there is a TSB for a software upgrade to the transmission that includes a fluid change.
Agree, we had that shudder after I changed transmission oil it stopped

Hey i just changed mine but 4.6L came out. Note that the car wasnt levelled it was jacked on the driver side, should i put what came out or put what manual says which is 2.7L. Thanks

I think it is recommended every 30-40 thousand miles. Our crv started to shift bad. I think it would kind of shake shifting from 1 to 2nd
@@DIYJIM yeap it's doing the same it's shake little bit when it on the lower torque. I meant to say it's shake when it is shifting from first to second. Thanks for the information.

Today I call my local dealership to change the transmission fluid and I ask them do I have to change my transmission fluid filter they told me that there is no transmission fluid filter on the Honda CRV. I am a bit confused because they are charging me big bucks for only to changing the fluid. Can you break the confusion that does Honda CRV 2013 has any transmission fluid filter?

Great video Jim...Is this transmission fluid change same as Transmission flush, I am confused as to what I need to tell the dealer. I have 42k miles same model.
If you take it to a garage they might use a machine to change all the transmission fluid. I only changed a few qts every 40000 miles.

Just felt the slight judder this morning from my 2012 Crv exl around 20-30 mph. Did it help yours after changing the tranny oil? Honda quoted me $230 and I half tempted to pay it since I don’t trust myself with the transmission.

Very interesting. I am in Britain and want to change the transmission oil in my Honda crv 2014, manual transmission, petrol model but i can find the torque wrench settings for both the fill and drain plugs. I haven't been able to find them online. Have you any advice please?
I’m not sure sorry, maybe your Honda’s are a little different than ours my Toyota Tundra has no dipstick or fill plug . I would think there should still be a drain plug. They are making it harder and harder for us to do our own maintenance

These bolts are not that critical for torque. I mean come on it’s a drain bolt. Snug it down nicely. Don’t go crazy. You will be fine. Don’t let that be your excuse for not being a DYI. Yeh an oil pan gasket set of bolt torques values for sure. But not a drain or fill bolt.

front and rear have specific flanges to place the jack stands, what you did is wrong, just an fyi

@@DIYJIM By the way,My wife used 2012 Crv EXL right now with 117,000miles on it.it runs good but sometimes it shakes a little bit and Engine light pop up and AWD light pop up also.I have a OBD scanner it says P0204 code Injector circuit/open cylinder 4.I already change all the 4 spark plugs and coil pack #4 but still it shakes and Engine code and AWD pops up.gas is slow.Do have an idea whats the problem?thanks Sir👍

Why are you measuring your old fluids?? Just go by the factory recommended amounts.
Just makes it easier to ensure to put the correct amount back in. I also checked it exactly how the manual said to. Thanks for watching
If you take your car off those ramps and jacks you will be able to drain 4 full qts of transmission fluid.

This is false information. Just did this without jacks and only 2.7L came out.
@@Slapee234.6L came out of mine with just the driver side jacked up.
