Practically no one but the comic book faithful knew anything about who the Guardians of the Galaxy were. But what James Gunn did is put out some good movies with really great soundtracks, and now they are a household name.
I saw this in the theater when it came out, a couple years after losing my mom to cancer. Even as a grown ass adult I connected with Peter in this, it’s one of my fav Marvel movies, just brilliant.
Fun fact about when Rocket is saying what he needs to escape: When he says "I need that guy's leg" he says "leg" with a small chuckle, hinting to the twist of him not needing it.
Corpsmen Dey is played by John C. Reilly. It cracks me up when he calls Peter Star Prince...lol 😅 Favorite song on the soundtrack is Hooked on A Feeling by Blue Suede. 😊 Yondu Udanta is played by Michael Rooker. He was in Fast & Furious 9 & 10 as Buddy 😊 Taneleer Tivan, The Collector, last appeared in the end credits of the first Thor movie when the Asgardians gave him the Ether. 😮 The Collector's attendant grabbed the Power Stone knowing it would kill her. From her perspective it was better to be dead than a perpetual slave. 😢 The Russian Astronaut dog's name is Cosmo. 😅 Marvel Comics Nova Corps is meant to be reminiscent of DC'S Green Lantern Corps. An interstellar organization that acts like a galactic police force. 😊
Yondu was played by Michael Rooker. I remember seeing him for the first time starring opposite Sylvester Stallone in Cliffhanger (1993). Rooker and Stallone briefly reunited onscreen in Guardians 2.
I can't really choose. All songs are perfect for the moment. So, i must go with the opening title song in the caves :) It just sets the mood for the cool ride this movie is :)
Absolutely adored your reactions!! One of my favorite films from the MCU!! Their mix of action, humor and emotion is so good. I cannot wait for you both to wacth Vol 2. Hannah and Tori you two are sweet and lovely!! I also love the kitty! ❤️❤️❤️
@victoriathomas4537 My pleasure Victoria!! I enjoy your reactions very much and look forward to your next one. Always so sweet and beautiful!! 🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️❤️
Guardians is one of my all time favorite films I saw it 8 times in theaters including Imax and Imax 3D and normal theater. It came out when I was going to film school at Full Sail. I love all of them but my Fav song... Hooked on a feeling
Well i think we might have found Tori's favourite MCU movie so far hehe😊 i loved watching you guys sing a long and dance and the zoom in on Tori for Groots death was perfect!! I feel like this definitley the most emotional weve seen you guys during an MCU movie/movie in general Guardians of the galaxy showed the MCU doing something hugely different a very comedy centric movie with so much heart and bringing us new characters we now love also this was mentioned in the Back to the future reaction yesterday but Hannah is awesome at remembering the little details for sure! The MCU reactions are my favourite with you guys i was smiling laughing and crying with you guys all along the way haha 😂Can't wait for more and remember Run to the movies "We are Groot" Also i cannot deal with the pouty lip and eyes welling up Hannah haha 😊
my favorite song from the movie is a split decision between "Hooked on a Feeling" and "Escape (The Pina Colada song). I grew up with all of these songs though.
Really fun way to work the Raid Shadow Legends ad into the video. Most UA-camrs are just like "hey, come play this game I never tried, but they gave me a bunch of money to say that I did"
Man, I love this film, this trilogy is absolutely the best that ever came out of Marvel. A comment about Rocket though, saying he isn’t a REAL raccoon might not be the right way to phrase it. I definitely understood what you meant. He definitely is real. Not much is known about his past, but based on what we learned from the Nova Core earlier in the film we learned that he was once a “ lower life form” meaning he was a regular raccoon that was repeatedly experimented on and given cybernetics and possibly the push to evolve in terms of intelligence. Rocket is and always will be in my top five favorite Marvel and movie characters in general. I think that despite his closed off personality there is something there that lots of people can relate to ( all of the guardians really) and especially this is evident in Vol. 2 and 3 which are also just fantastic. This is one of those go to movies if I’m having a bad day. Can’t go wrong with some kick ass action and even better soundtrack. 😄
This movie was a flex for Marvel. It's one thing to make a hit movie with Thor or Cap. It's quite anothet to take characters virtually no one knows, including a tree and a racoon, and make three quarters of a billion dollars... The kickass soundtrack certainly didn't hurt.
On your question about makeup... Karen Gillan (the actress for Nebula) has said that at first the makeup and prosthetics would take 3-4 hours to apply every morning before filming. With practice, they were able to get the process down to about 1 hour by the time Guardians Vol. 3 was filming. Hers seems like it was probably among the most complex in the main cast, but I'm sure the characters that were just in color makeup were also a huge pain in the butt.
The character Rocket is a real racoon. He was just a racoon that has been genetically and cyberneticly augmented. It would be like saying a person with a pace maker and had some gean taropy is no longer a human.
There was a reason he able to hold the infinity gem for a very short while without instantly being destroyed but I don’t want to spoil it for you. It’s revealed in part 2.
My favorite song off this is absolutely "Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang" by Silver. Had a bit of doo-wop/soul with some straight ahead disco grooves without being cheesy or over the top.
That's actually the band Joan Jett was in called The Runaways. I wouldn't mind a slow dance with either one of these ladies to 10CC's I'm Not In Love or Elvin Bishop's Fooled Around & Fell In Love 😉🕺 Yondu is played by Michael Rooker, who you might recognise from Walking Dead. He's also in movies such as Henry - Portrait of a Serial Killer (his best role & a recommendation for a reaction), Mississippi Burning, Mallrats & other James Gunn movies such as Slither, Super, Suicide Squad & GOTG vol. 2. He's also in two movies produced by Gunn, The Belko Experiment & Brightburn.
Thanks for the recommendations. We already have The Belko Experiment on our list for a reaction. A small interesting bit of trivia: Joan Jett is originally from just a few miles from where we film our videos.
A fun fact you probably didn’t know: for this first Guardians movie, Vin Diesel voiced Groot in 15 other languages. For example, in the Spanish dubs he would say “Yo soy Groot.” One thing I liked is how Peter and Gamora have mutual respect by the end of the film. It’s shown when she begins to call him Peter instead of Quill.
Max, editor, here. This is my favorite Marvel movie (out of the ones the girls have seen so far). I think that the way every character has an arc and every relationship has an arc as well (as you pointed out) is a sign of truly excellent writing. When I first watched it, it reminded me of a lecture I attended at a writing workshop, about 20 years ago. It was about how each relationship in a story is a character of its own. Quill is a character, Gamora is a character, and their relationship is a character. In my opinion this is even harder to pull off on screen than on the pages of a book. That's why writers/directors of the caliber of James Gunn or Joss Whedon are so rare. I think that you will absolutely love this reaction when it goes live tomorrow.
48:14 "Where did he get the second one?" you were asking about the round container that held the purple stone. Remember when they started the mission, they gave everybody on the team one of those, so whoever got to it first could contain it without touching it (you cut that scene out but it was during the Cherry Bomb song). So if you look 47:31 it is actually Gamorra who uses her container to seal the stone. So the switcheroo was possible because Quill pocketed hers and gave his to Yondu.
When this movie first came out, I thought it looked ridiculous and didn’t bother to see it theatrically. What a huge mistake that was. All three guardians movies are excellent.
Max, editor, here. I remember, when this movie was announced, someone I was speaking with made a comment about the relative states of the DC and Marvel cinematic universes. He said something to the effect of: DC - let's make everyone depressed, dour, and humorless. Marvel - how about a talking raccoon? And what do you know? He turned out to be completely right. Out of the movies the girls have seen thus far, this one is definitely my favorite.
Wah that was my exact thought as well, thought it looked ridiculous.. turned out to be one of my favorites and wish I could have seen it in the theater.
@@RuntotheMovies Yep. When I heard they were coming out with this, I thought, "What were they thinking? Nobody ever heard of the Guardians of the Galaxy! I used to read comics and I barely remember them! Why wouldn't they make a movie with the more well known characters?" But they didn't consult me about which movies to make, and this turned out to be one of the best MCU movies.
Love this movie. I really liked the 3rd one because I love the back story of Rocket. The part where Chris Pratt accidentally drops the orb nd tries to catch it was an accident. That wasn’t supposed to happen and James Gunn decided to keep the scene in the movie. My favorite song from the movie is by Marvin Gay Ain’t No Mountain High Enough. That song was also in the Disney movie Remember The Titans. That is an amazing movie if you never seen it
Hi Hannah and Tori I love your reaction to guardians of the Galaxy volume 1 can't wait to see you react to volume 2 and volume 3 and special holidays One day !!! My favorite song is aint no mountain high enough in this movie🎧🎶🎶🎶
Rocket is an actual Raccoon from Earth he's just been genetically experimented on and yes he does have some sort of cybernetic implants on and in his natural body.
@@leonardodavinchii4220 They were watching, they both missed part in the movie where Rhomann Day the Nova Corpsman explained that Rocket is a victim of illegal genetic experimentation on lower life forms. Yes, they did see implants on his back, and they thought he was a cyborg of some sort like the Terminator. They most likely still would have thought Rocket was an artificial life-form even after finishing the movie. The movie clearly establishes that Rocket was a lower LIFE-FORM. Nothing spoiled besides I'm sure they plan to watch GoG Vol.3 someday.
This will be the most unpopular comment on UA-cam, but this soundtrack will be playing on a loop in Hell when I arrive. Most of these songs were one-hit wonders for good reason. I lived through this era and stopped listening to radio and have never gone back. I’m well aware that I’m in the minority, but I wear it as a badge of honor. Loved the movie in spite of it, and it made for a heartwarming connection to his mother. Beyond that, I have the original Marvel Super-Heroes comic of Guardians, with Vance Astro instead of Peter Quill. Yondu was the only original character left in the movie, and it was a bastardized version of him, but James Gunn did a fabulous job with the story. Martinex makes a cameo appearance, but there was no Rocket, Groot, Drax, Gamora or Peter in the very first appearance. It was also several years before another issue appeared. Anyway, it’s lots of fun and brilliantly created!
1. Title: “The Elephant Man”(1980) 2. IMDb Rating: 8.2/10 3. Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 91% 4. Academy Award Nominations: 8 5. Actors: John Hurt, Anthony Hopkins, Anne Bancroft 6. Plot: Based on the true story of Joseph Merrick, a severely deformed man in 19th century London. Dr. Frederick Treves discovers Merrick being exploited in a sideshow and takes him to the London Hospital. Under Treves’ care, Merrick transforms from a social outcast into a favorite of London high society. However, he still grapples with finding his place amidst societal norms. The film delves into themes of inner beauty, acceptance, and the profound extents of human behavior.
My favorite trio is here, Hannah, Tori, Captain Boo America!!!🙂Tori you look beautiful in that dress. It is very flattering. Nice job hosting this one for Tori, Hannah. Great to see you doing another reaction! You ladies should definitely do the two sequels and the holiday special which reveals something important.😉 Great reactions to the original Guardians of the Galaxy film, Ladies!!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
James Gunn knows how to put comic books on film. The soundtracks he has currated are incredible, from this volume (despite being a massive Bowie fan) I'll go with Cherry Bomb, simply because of the way it was used in the scene. All in all Guardians is an incredible trilogy of films in an increasingly deminishing cinematic universe.
Can I suggest you watch John Carpenters The Fog from 1980, very suspenful movie. Also suggest horror film The Mist, another great great movie with a very devastating ending.
I can't believe there's three actors all named Chris: Evans (Captain America) Hemsworth (Thor) & now Pratt (Star-Lord) 😳. Any more Chris's want to join the MCU: Tucker, Rock or Pine
@@havok6280 Is he really taken though? The last (Kelin Timeline ) Star Trek movie was 7 years ago and reportedly Pine is considering walking away from any future Star Trek movies due to script and salary concerns. Even though there is talk of Gal Gadot reprising her Wonder Woman role under DC head James Gunn there's no guarantee Chris Pine will be asked to return to the role of Steve Trevor for any future movies. Pine is a very versatile actor I'm sure there a number of roles he could take on in the MCU provided he's interested.
My recommendations for Tori, Tori and Toy or Tori and Hannah. Serious Forrest Gump Green Mile 13 Hours secret soldiers of Benghazi Funny Airplane The Naked Gun Beverly Hills Cop
@@Tori14537 13 hours I don’t think I’ve seen anyone react to it. Incredible true story. The comedy ones I’ve only seen a handful of people react to. Forrest Gump and Green Mile are classics. Both are a good luck as human treat one another and how amazing and kind the human spirit can be.
Apparently there is a scene on editing room floor where someone calls Gamora a green w***e. that's why when Drax talks about having friends he calls Gamora so. It's really bad editing decision when they left punch line in movie but left out setup.
Marvel was really starting to hit it's stride around this time the fact this laugh out loud movie came out right after the most serious grounded Marvel movie Captain America The Winter Soldier showed that the MCU wasn't a fluke and was still surprising the critics.
So he’s not “technically” the same Groot at the end. It’s more like they grew a different Groot from his remains. See him more like Groot’s son or spawn.
I'm pretty sure the astronaut dog is supposed to be "Laika" one of the first earth beings in space. Sent up by the Russians back in 1957 before they sent Yuri Gagarin, who would become the first human in space in 1961. How the Collector got Laika, and how she's still alive decades later are both mysteries.

Right up there with "open the fucking door"

Escape (The Piña Colada Song) is my favorite. It is stuck in my head now... Tori's facial expressions are the best!

Bearer of bad news here. According to the Director, James Gunn, Groot is dead. The sapling we meet at the end is his offspring, not the same character
The whole soundtrack is dope, but if I had to pick a fav it'd be a tie between "Come and Get Your Love" and "Hooked on a Feeling".
Two very good choices 🎵🥰
Yondu was played by Michael Rooker. I remember seeing him for the first time starring opposite Sylvester Stallone in Cliffhanger (1993). Rooker and Stallone briefly reunited onscreen in Guardians 2.

25:00 Yikes. That's really sad. If you know, you know. 25:34 Also, I didn't remember him being there.
To clear up confusion that Groot is dead the sapling you see at the end of the movie is his son
Thank you so much for clearing that up for us 😊
@@Tori14537 no problem I just knew when y'all watched guardians 2 there woulda been some questions bout that lol btw love y'all reaction!!
Many questions indeed haha 😄
& thank you again, im so glad you enjoyed it just as much as we did !
I love Drax doing the Batista Shoulder Roll as they prepare for battle at the end. 🥃
Fun Fact: They made two video games out of these guys. Square Enix & Telltale Games
Wait... does Rocket want parts to build a bigger body maybe?🤯
Can you tell we filmed this immediately after the Captain America video? 😺🇺🇲
Thank you so much for the compliment 😊 ❤
James Gunn knows how to put comic books on film. The soundtracks he has currated are incredible, from this volume (despite being a massive Bowie fan) I'll go with Cherry Bomb, simply because of the way it was used in the scene. All in all Guardians is an incredible trilogy of films in an increasingly deminishing cinematic universe.
Hooked on a Feeling!
Ok. Good...the Cat is here
Of course. She's the star of the show.
Redbone / Come and get your love.
Finger to the throat means death!
10:32 John C O'Reilly
Can I suggest you watch John Carpenters The Fog from 1980, very suspenful movie.
Also suggest horror film The Mist, another great great movie with a very devastating ending.
Thanks for the recommendations! 😺
Quill really does have the best pelvic sorcery...
🤣
Hey guys. Love this movie ❤
Next video idea: Saving Private Ryan
And Vin Diesel is Groot.
Yondu was played by Michael Roker... "MERYL" from the Walking Dead!
The Voice of Groot was Vin Diesel.
I can't believe there's three actors all named Chris: Evans (Captain America) Hemsworth (Thor) & now Pratt (Star-Lord) 😳. Any more Chris's want to join the MCU: Tucker, Rock or Pine
Pine is taken... By both the DCU and Star Trek...
Awesome and fun-fact: This is Steven Spielberg's favourite movie and he also likes superhero films.
My recommendations for Tori, Tori and Toy or Tori and Hannah.
Serious
Forrest Gump
Green Mile
13 Hours secret soldiers of Benghazi
Funny
Airplane
The Naked Gun
Beverly Hills Cop
Thanks so much for your generosity! ♥️
And thanks for the recommendations as well.
@@RuntotheMovies give me a week or two and I’ll make a bigger donation. Just found this channel. Gotta say it is up there as one of my favorites.
@@spicymccrash899 Thank you so much for your kindness!!
Thank you so kindly for the donation & all of these great recommendations! 😊❤ we really appreciate it!
Rocket is a real raccoon, he was just experimented on.
Although Groot will be coming back it won't be this Groot, due to it being a piece of him it'll be Groot's son
So he’s not “technically” the same Groot at the end.
It’s more like they grew a different Groot from his remains.
See him more like Groot’s son or spawn.
I didn't know this post was going to be a double feature. We got the great "Raid: Shadow Legends" promo followed by that MCU film. 😉
To be fair, Groot did die. Baby Groot is his offspring.
If you say Chris Pratts name really fast, it sounds like crisp rat.
😂🔥🐁
Omg, why did I just do this out loud 😂😂😂
Y'all don't know Dewey Cox? Seriously, Tory knows him from "Step Brothers"? Y'all need to know him from "Walk Hard".
"Take my hand!"
You know who has hands? THE DEVIL!
John C Reilly has been in some great movies. Boogie Nights, Gangs of New York, Thin Red Line, Stan and Ollie.
8:33 I still find it hard to believe that VIN DIESEL did the voice of Groot!!
I know right ! I absolutely love groot❤
Gomorra handed out orbs to all of them before they attacked Ronans ship.
The first chapter of the only perfect stand-alone trilogy in the MCU.
beautiful ladies love your reactions
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it just as much as we did.
Please be sure to share with a friend ❤😊📽
groon the voz actor is vin disel
You should feel sad because Groot died and the one in the planter is his son.
