  • This is a great hike from Phu Langka National Park Headquarters to Tham Nakha otherwise known as the Naga Cave ถ้ำนาคา in Bueng Kan Thailand. Most people take a shorter route to the Naga Cave but we decided to make a real adventure of it. If you’re wandering what to do in Bueng or Nakhon Phanom then this might be the answer. It’s a beautiful hike up a mountain through unspoiled forest บึงกาฬ นครพนม
    This Thailand adventure travel vlog is the Sixth in a series based upon a trip to travel Issan (North East Thailand) that I have just completed.
    I travel with Jimmy (JB Wanders) and John. John, who is 59 years old has recently taken some major life knocks including a divorce and being told as recently as as last October that he had only a 50/50 chance of surviving an illness.
    John flew to Thailand at the end of last Year determined to turn his life around and also have a great time. In his first 3 months here he managed to lose an incredible 55lbs in weight through fasting.
    Although John was having a great time (He’s been visiting Thailand for 20 Years) he’d never explored further than Bangkok and Pattaya. A chance meeting with me and later watching my videos made him wander what else Thailand had to offer…particularly adventure.
    So where to go in Thailand? John heard that I had a trip coming up to various locations in Issan (North East Thailand) and asked if he could come along too? I warned him that we had lots of strenuous adventures planned and he assured me that he felt up to it after his weight loss and exercise routine.
    Anyway, how did John do? You can find out in this video of a trip we did to the mystical Tham Nakha (Naga Cave). Most people take a shorter route to the Naga Cave but we turned it into a long adventure by hiking there from the Phu Langka National Park HQ

      Yes Alan, some people only experience them in the major tourist centres where they can become a bit jaded but upcountry my experiences with them are rarely short of great

    I climbed the steep side with my wife and brother in law last month. We also climbed to Erawan Cave last summer, but this was the most difficult hike I've taken post 50 years old. The Thai's were encouraging each other with exclamations of "fight" and "strong" during the brutal climb. We also visited the Three Whales rocks, which feature more stunning views. I'm 53, weigh 18 stones and damned thankful I gave up smoking four years ago and cut back on beer or they'd have had to carry my dead carcass off that hill. ;-)

      It's a great hike George and the Thais have attached a lot of mystery to it which adds to the fun. Yes, lucky you packed in those cigarettes lol. Cheers

    Really enjoyed that Karl and not just because I am in it haha. The picture quality and colouring are fantastic! That ranger certainly saved the day; the coke he gave me gave me a sugary boost that propelled me down the mountain. The hike we did that day was pretty impressive and I loved almost every minute of it!

    Hi caught you on Paddy's Chanel, so will check out your content. I also have been travelling Thailand for 30 plus years and hope to be back by mid year to stay for a year.
    What I have found useful in the descriptions of other vlogs are the use of Google map locations. Cheers and beers from Oz

    Really enjoyed that one Karl. You could imagine camping out somewhere along that escarpment, but would involve carrying a lot more weight. Pretty brutal in that heat!

    • @karlsthailand
      @karlsthailand  2 роки тому

      It’s a great hike Chris and yes, I’d love to camp up there sometime. The extra weight wouldn’t bother me tbh but yes, the heat up there can be intense and there are no sources of water on plateau
