Spectacular Karl! A fantastic film of a great adventure in Khao Sok. We are so lucky to visit places like this. Wasn't easy though as the tour lady in the park office didn't want to help and was more interested in playing with her phone. Malee was great and fun and left us standing. The boat driver and guide, Mot, made the day more enjoyable. The scenery is stunning and your video captures the feeling and makes memories of a truly magical day.
Glad you enjoyed it Eddie. Yes, I guess anyone who deals with foreign tourists all day long can get jaded. So glad that we persisted and found a way. Thanks so much Eddie
Hi karl. Khao Sok National Park and especially the Cheow Lan Lake is the one place I can feel at peace with myself. An absolutely stunningly beautiful setting with nature. I could actually quite happily live in one of those floating bungalows.
Karl I am really enjoying your hikes in the National Parks, as a 66 year old who has enjoyed hiking through the years but slowing down a bit now so I really find your videos inspirational. I hope your channel continues to grow and I for one am watching the ads to support you.
Hi Per, It was a great day for all. Karl worked hard to secure the tour that the park staff tried to dissuade us from doing. We knew what we wanted and were so happy to experience this magical place. We only saw two other people on the hiking trail.
Wowww- what a magnificent place Karl! Glad to see you all made it to the top and came back down in one piece 😊 Thanks for sharing yet another amazing video 🙏🏼
Absolutely fantastic mate Truly incredible National park mate great work mate see you soon mate And I cannot wait Do some incredible travel with you mate
Great video Karl that green water and with the beautiful Thai landscape, large rock island and lush jungle meeting the edge of the lake was breathtaking. Well done 🙏 Chok Dee Mak Khulp
another great video karl - i went there in january and it was like being in lord of the rings. beautiful shades of grey and silver. we saw wild elephants feeding by the lake. Gotta go back when the skies are blue like in your vid.
Thanks John. A lot just depends on who you are with and things like the weather lol but it was a great trip that made for some good content. Hope you are well.
Thanks so much. Sometimes things go with you…a great sunset or sunrise or great company. They all help to make a good video if the fall into place. Cheers
Beautiful scenery. We were lucky and were able to stay on the lake during the Covid lockdown. It was quiet, very quiet and teeming with wildlife. What an incredible experience it was. Khao Sok is the most beautiful part of Thailand for me. Thanks for your upload
That was so good Karl. I especially enjoyed the boat journey on those tranquil, calm waters. Spectacular scenery. Great idea putting the drone up. Best video I've seen for some time. Thank you Karl.😊
It was spectacular. The stranded lady boat passenger seemed cheerful. Her partner was less pleased. The tranquility was amazing. Beautiful place there.
Great video Karl. We did a trip on the lake last year and stayed at that restaurant too. Great drone footage over the 3 sisters! Was very busy when we went. That climb to the view point look intense but Thai Rambo made it look a doddle armed with only Climbing Flip Flops and his Knife 😉😎
The locals rarely fail to make it look easy do they Mark? Although I had been to Khao Sok a couple of times before it was my first trip on the lake…stunning. Cheers
Hi Karl hope your keeoing well , that was a superb adventure fabulous content. The national park scenery was outstanding. Going to make this trip this year. See you for a beer when you're about next
We stayed at a cheap hotel about 20 minutes from the Chiew Lan Pier Jimmy. It was fine, much better value than on the lake itself although that would be a worthwhile experience for most tourists. It’s stunning maymte but IMO you do need to feature a perhaps expensive lake boat ride to appreciate it fully
loved the drone launch off the boat. they make little key chains with floats attached. we used one on our boat key just in case the key got dropped. I'f it didn't throw off the drone balance , d be tempted to add a float attachment in the case of wet landings.
I believe you can get little legs for them that float. I really didn’t have time to prepare properly as we’d originally planned to go somewhere else. Thanks
The quality of your videos has improved so much lately and this channel is really growing into something great now Karl. Khao Sok is absolutely stunning and this video resonated with me because I've been writing about my own experiences in Phang Nga recently, where the scenery is very similar and typical of places in that region of Thailand. Those limestone karsts and turquoise waters are spectacular and they're some of the first images that flash through my mind every time I think of Thailand. I'd love to go back to Phang Nga but I think I'll try Khao Sok the next time I'm down that way, I'd really like to stay in that place where Eddie did 22 years ago.
I'd been there before a couple of times Sam but had never taken a boat on the lake before. It's something you simply must do even if it is a bit expensive by Thai standards. Thanks for the positive comments about the channel and see you soon!
I use two cameras, an IPhone 14 Pro on Automatic with a gimbal and a DJI Action 4 shooting D-LOGM, also automatic but I restrict the ISO to 100-800 in daylight. I mix the footage into a rec. 2020 HLG HDR timeline which isn’t easy as the OA4 footage is HDR but in a rec. 709 colour space.
I think it was 4500 Baht. That includes the boat and the guide all day long. He went out of his way for us, even throwing in some unexpected and interesting stops
I’m not actually sure what a ‘fire tiger’ is Kev, possibly a poor translation from Thai. If you can find a link to that article I’d appreciate it. Cheers
No problem Kevin. เสือ Suea , the Thai word for tiger is actually a generic name used for tigers and a couple of types of leopards so it’s easy for confusion to set in during translation. Cheers
Oustanding beauty of this place. Thank you for sharing. Can't wait for the time all those hideously loud truck engines will be replaced with electric ones
@karlsthailand haha it's weird what I remember, it was in the corner bar up the top of soi honey, I'm from Harefield so we got chatting about sunny England 😆
Your drone needs to be registered and insured in Thailand. A DJI shop should be able to assist in this process. I believe the current policy is that you are allowed to fly drones in National Parks so long as they have the relevant paperwork. I would speak to the National Park staff about any restrictions because of wildlife or nesting birds etc.
Gday Karl. great stuff, never seen a thai girl thai girl work that hard and the guide wearing thongs, not to much wild life but thats expexted. cheers thanks for sharing
My pleasure and agree, it’s amazing what the local guides wear and Malee was great. Most wildlife in Thailand isn’t seen outside of sunrise and sunset. The giant fruit bats were a real bonus. Cheers
I can’t remember if his name was Mon or Mot (said with a high tone). Either way go to the main Chiew Larn Pier and you’ll see a small Sala shelter opposite the main tour booking area. If you show a bit of this video or a screenshot of him they’ll know who it is and hook you up. Probably best to arrange it a day beforehand. As I said in the video the main booking area just wants to herd you onto the next tour regardless. They had no time for our request to hike to the viewpoint
Did you pay for a night on any of those stupidly priced floating canoe tents on the lake? The ones that one night equates to ten days wages for the locals.
When you think that the videos can’t get any better than the last ones you post another beauty . Thanks Karl 🍻
Thanks so much. That was a great trip and I was confident that I would be able to make some decent videos with footage.
Khao Sok is out of this world Karl. No words can describe its beauty.
It certainly is the jewel of Thailand’s National Parks. Cheers

Very nice Karl, Eddie and Malee 👍😀

Glad you enjoyed it Ronnie and thanks for the coffees buddy
I'm impressed by the guide doing that rocky scrambling in flip-flops. 17:00
He lives up in the hills so I think that was like a garden path for him. Cheers
Thanks Karl.

Looked great Karl. Malee leading the way again 555. Loved the fruit bats.
Yeah. Malee loved it…a real action lady.
To paraphrase the previous comment 'just when you thought these videos couldn't get better......' Excellent.
Thanks so much. Sometimes things go with you…a great sunset or sunrise or great company. They all help to make a good video if the fall into place. Cheers
Another beautiful vlog. That was stunning (yet again!!), being on the water, the hike, the view and the wildlife. Great stuff, thanks Karl.

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks so much for the compliment.
The top place I’ve visited in Thailand. Floating bungalows in green waters.
It is an incredible experience. Cheers
Another great one Karl. Eddie and Malee were good company, and it wasn't a bad place for that couple to be held up for an hour.
It was spectacular. The stranded lady boat passenger seemed cheerful. Her partner was less pleased. The tranquility was amazing. Beautiful place there.
@@EddieManning It looked fantastic. He will look back and realise it wasn’t so bad after all. Glad you enjoyed it.

As always a great video. I admire how fit you guys are. I have no doubt that it would kill me or go a long way in finishing me off.

I swear Malee could have taught Orde Wingate's 77th Infantry Brigade a thing or two, making Karl & Eddie look like a couple of novice scouts
Yes, as soon as body weight and agility come into the equation they leave us in the dark! Cheers
