    I didn't notice it until someone pointed it out, but I love how the sticks up at :59 is making fun of when Justin Lewis brought his sticks up early in that one Bluecoats 2008 video haha.

    @Nidaime299 It's when you attack the drum in a diagonal motion (either inward or outward slice) rather than a straight up-and-down vertical motion.

    They're taped i personally like to tape my sticks which is: double taped down to the fulcrum or just above and then double taped again at the bottom of your last finger wrapping the stick...i like it and i got the style from PR 07

  • @andeejns5
    @andeejns5 12 років тому

    @Rimshotttttt because justin lewis has like a signature slice angle when he plays... He probably just teaches them his technique.

  • @someperson79
    @someperson79 12 років тому

    @wearefamily12 nah not really.a program that strictly relies on the visual aspect lacks consistent and clean note playing.player per player is way off and even the visual epilieptic body movements are played out already.

    Why are those Snares drooping like that????

  • @zdesjarlais
    @zdesjarlais 12 років тому

    Well the center isn't in the trio at the beginning so that wouldn't make much sense for him to tap off for that section.

    Slicing isn't a bad thing, as long your technique isn't horrible and your in unison you're perfectly fine.

  • @JeffN311
    @JeffN311 12 років тому

    That would be true, if drumline members were horn players. For the horn line, marking time is supposed to train you to keep your feet from chopping up the sound coming out of your horn. With drum lines, with their much more complex rhythms and such, marking time is meant to assist in keeping time and knowing where the downbeats are. Which, I know, sounds asinine, but since our notes are passing through our brains, to our hands, and to the drum so rapidly, it's necessary.

    Don't ask how I remember this, but somebody please tell me that the snares coming halfway up at 1:00 is a reference to Justin Lewis doing that accidentally in the lot with Coats in '08 at finals...if it is, that's fucking hilarious.
