I was a natural drummer who picked it up quickly and acceled rapidly in my grade school days. My teachers would always tell me im good but i really need to learn to read music, the rudiments, techniques. Even take piano to broaden my abilities. I was just so hardheaded. Still love drums and drumming and this reminds me of a set my parents pieced together through various means when i was 10 for Christmas. I must have gotten 10,000 hours of use from that kit before I bestowed it to my nephews. Drumming is a way of life, not a hobby. Peace and Happy New Year!!
I refurbished the same kit in the same color + cut new edges on everything. Mine also had the clear tom interiors with painted kick interior. These drums sound great + dry and punchy.
Looks like a star drums.I have one my first drum kit when I was 10yrs.from the lug’s you can Google it and see all the different drum kits from the 60’s catalog
That might be a Slingerland. My dad had one from 63 that he gave me for graduating high school. And it had his original Bass Drum. Those look like the same exact hardware and Hoop. His was an orange Sparkle finish.
@@GhostInMeWV thanks for watching it did made in Japan so I don't think it is a slingerland I was wondering if it was a Starkid someone had mentioned earlier
@@moondrums @dirty said MIJ I just read a great article on the Slingerland copy cats out of Japan that basically killed them by the 80’s … fascinating stuff. It actually has the finish my dad said listed in the article sparkle orange pearl. “Not so modern drummer” with the com at the end. But those look to me at least… just like my dad’s ‘63 Slingerland bass drum hardware at least…
I was searching online for Ludwig drums and saw an add from a Thrift store that had a kit with an Acrolite snare. I looked closer and noticed it was a Tama Superstar in Super Mahogany finish. Listed $250. Ended up being from 1983. Sizes 24 13 14 18 plus the Acrolite. 6 8 10 Rototoms. 13” Zildjian New Beat hi hat 18 A Rock crash Cracked 18 Zildjian China Cymbal stands and throne. Not bad for $270 out the door after taxes.
If I were you I'd just leave the internal muffler in the drums u bless it's broken. I have an old Ludwig drums with those mufflers installed inside and I actually use them if I want to. Kinda cool to have them especially newer drums do not have them. Just my opinion. Great job on those drums. I bought snare drums for dirt cheap at Goodwill less than $7.00 . Lots of fun!
It's a Star Set...nice mahogany shells......Star became later Tama....they had the same kind of Metallhoop on their Swingstar,Royalstar sets in the 70 th and 80 th....
@@norbertrenner9364 thanks for watching I was wondering if they were a star kid but I saw no Badgers are in insignias on it but that's pretty cool if it is
Yo they look like they’re in pretty good shape for the age honestly. Like I assume they maybe just sat unplayed in an attic for a few decades, and then finally wound up at good will when someone died or moved.
They sound pretty good, who needs a $5000 set ? Anyways you know how to mic them up, and record them, and make them sound good ! Maybe they are Stewart, or Supreme. I wouldn't be able to use the floortom with top head only, they gotta match !
Did you look into replacing the lug inserts, or "swivel nuts" at all? It might be a cheap way to update things to a more standard thread. Regardless, they sound pretty good. Nice work!
hey broa, i need your help finding a kit like that , i can spend up to 100 $ possibly , how much was your's ? , i am in central pa here though , def. looki for a project kit/set to work on n build , thanks > tom !
They sound great. Good heads, good tuning, and a good touch are the keys. Good job
Thank you. Thanks for watching. Im currently working on a bass drum video with 2 separate mics for this bass drum. pretty interesting.

Sounds awesome!
Great sounding kit! Awesome find
It's amazing how good you made them sound in the full mix!
I was surprised how they sound recorded, and pleased. Live they sound a little boxy. Thanks for watching.

I have not. I may do that for the floor tom, but I like the way the floor tom sounds now. Thanks for the tip. Thanks for watching.
Early Tama.....
Look like Gretsch’s based on the silver sealer inside the bass.
Is that the original snare that came with the kit?
No, its a gold sparkle stop sighn badge gretch. Found that at a yard sale. Goes well with this lit.
@moondrums Nice sounding snare. The kit sounds good, too. @@moondrums
What snare are you using?
The snare is a Gretch Stop Sign badge. It was find from a yard sale. Got Lucky.
Wht mic you use? Thank and awesome video.
I'm using a senhiser 602 on the kik
I had a set of Marathon drums that look identical to the build.
I will have to check it out more. It looks like they may be STAR drums.
Looks like an early TAMA
Drums are hard to sell these days so many on fb market.
What area are you in!? I'm interested in buying them if you are interested in selling! I'm just north of Atlanta! Thx
