- Ed from crystal clear aquatics tackles an old pvc liner that has finally given up. Set in a lovely formal paved area and located in a prime position, this pond is set to become a real gem of a water feature!

Hi Ed, Another super pond starts its rebirth but no DAVE to help the delivery. when he sees you wrestle that huge slab he will be glad he wasnt there. not sure how many working days this video covered but from day one to ordering liner and planing landscaping, youve done a cracking job on your own...well done pal, cant wait for part two

As usual a very high quality, educational and thoroughly enjoyable video. Ed is the bible for the ordinary man on how to construct or renovate a pond. Bizarrely I have one right now that is about three times bigger than anticipated. Thanks to flooding in the area I have started digging out. The rain is just incessant. But once Summer eventually arrives I will be putting to good use the invaluable advice I have gleaned from this excellent channel. 10,000 subscribers is no more than you deserve, hope your continual willingness to help means the podcast goes from strength to strength.

Wish you were over here in Portugal, we would have you sort our pond out in a jiffy! We've got major leak issues with a waterfall into the pond. It's made of stacked rock slabs on concrete back-pointed with cement/sand (mixed at 4:1) to prevent water loss - clearly ineffectual despite retaining the pretty stone look. Where are we going wrong???
Hi there Martin, thanks for watching and commenting-sadly you’re a little too far from me for me to offer my services (although i’d love a holiday to Portugal) !! Ideally your cascade should have been built on top of a waterproof lining/membrane- a sand and cement based mortar-even if waterproofed- all too easily can shift and crack causing leaks. Even if fully sealed inside by painting on a waterproofing resin such as G4 its unlikely you’ll be able to get a good lasting waterproof seal long term. Ideally I’d dismantle and re-build on an overlapping piece of pond liner that extends down into the pond.

Hiya Ed I've got a preformed pond in my garden and I'm looking for something New but no idea what obviously I would like a bigger pond with better pump filter and obviously clear water would you be interested in doing a job for me ..or just come and have a look and probably give me some sort of a price for the work .. Thankyou
Yeah, people plant those small, pretty “dwarf” conifers and Japanese maples around their new pond and after 20 years they have those massive blobs of foliage that hide the pond from sight. I don’t care for the look at all. They make the pond look smaller and not natural. Glad you got rid of at least some of them. At first I was afraid you were going to keep them.

Can I go off on a slight tangent. Without wishing to sound like Mr Nanny State, can we all be careful when we're at work. I was prising some glued on wood from a structure yesterday using a sharp tool. Some of it was pretty stubborn and I was giving it serious oomph. The wood suddenly broke free and I've drove the tool deep into the base of my thumb muscle. I actually screamed. I'm on thinners and it looked like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I'm not exaggerating to say you'd think my patio is made of red, not cream, flagstones. This morning my hand resembles an inflated washing up glove.
Could be a trip to A&E. We all get distracted, take short cuts ( I was trying to get the job done before imminent rain. It was a side gate that I couldn't close because of rain swelling and I didn't want my security compromised ). Sometimes we use the nearest tool or think our normal glasses are sufficient to protect our eyes. I wear gloves almost 100% of the time when working, for cleanliness as much as anything else. I just forgot yesterday, not sure why, it's almost second nature for me to don gloves. They would have saved me, certainly lessened the injury.
I've only been on here scant weeks and I'm already reporting a nasty injury. Life can change in the blink of an eye. Walking backwards to get a different perspective on a job is a real bad habit of mine. Something very small and light can bring you down when you're in reverse. Please guys, concentrate, don't rush, use the right tools and safety gear. You've only got one body and replacement parts aren't readily available. Ed has to talk and work at the same time to make the videos. After my own disaster yesterday my heart was in my mouth a few times watching him move around what is inevitably a chaotic area.
Sorry to preach guys, I know I'm new on here and I sound like a Harry Enfield character. We all get complacent though. DON'T.
Love this Tony, thanks for commenting! Sorry to hear of your little accident and hope you’re on the mend. It’s good to highlight potential safety concerns however- as you say, things can go from a normal day at work to disaster in a blink of an eye so never take short cuts!
