    Very interesting video, I'm hoping to get more knowledge about your journeys of being teacher in china and more bike videos where you take off random neighbourhoods or parks :)

      Glad you like them! They aren't as inflammatory as a lot of the videos out there about China, but I am just trying to keep them real and show my laid back life instead of stirring up a hornets nest! Thank you for your comment!

    I have to try your grapefruit juice with black coffee suggestion. Can applicants choose the City/Region preference or are often assigned to locations in demand wherever in the country that maybe? I heard some foreign teachers are offered upwards of 4500 usd monthly including accommodations too?

    • @sirant
      @sirant  5 місяців тому

      Oh of course! Positions are always available all over the country. And some are Incredibly lucrative!! With a proper degree and teaching credentials much more than $4500usd/month is possible!! Even with a Ba in any field plus a TESOL or other ESL certificate high paying jobs are readily available.

      @@sirant another YTer openly disclosed monthly earnings in 6k range (2023) presumably in au$ since usd seem excessively high (well maybe not as high anymore with soaring inflation). Highly incentivizing except the weekend expectation. Teachers in canada can earn a salary upwards of 100k which is not much anymore with the high cost of living but they work a total 9 months out of the year.

    • @sirant
      @sirant  5 місяців тому +1

      @@hz240 Oh god no!! Teaching in Canada SUCKS!!! I know a LOT of teachers!! Very few earn even close to 100K per year!! The national average for teachers is 45K. ca.talent.com/salary?job=teacher You have to be a very special kind of person to want to be a teacher in Canada or North America these days. It has to be for love of teaching or helping students, because there is no financial motivation at all! Although they don't typically work at the schools in the summer, they often take other jobs to make up for the low salaries. It's sad. The teachers should be highly paid, as they are preparing the next generations for the future of the country.

      @@sirant agreed, teaching is not for everyone. Definitely not my cup of tea. 80-100k range is a common pay scale for experienced elementary public school teachers in Ontario nowadays. I cannot speak for other Canadian provinces but suspect Alberta and BC are equally as competitive. Hefty pay deductions compared to those in ch1na to offset union dues, pension, etc… The salary chart provided likely applies to private schools.

      @sirant  5 місяців тому

      @@hz240 Yeah, I suppose experienced teachers who have been in the game for awhile make alright money, though new teachers would have it rougher by far considering low starting salaries and the insane cost of living. I am 100% with you though, I would never teach in Canada! Kids these days.... Oy!

    Hi im 21, Im a native speaker with english as my first language and Im currently doing my tefl course level 5 diploma. I dont have a bachelors degree but I have a Cert 4 in a skilled or vocational course at tafe, and im able to get enough points on the points system for a working visa.
    Do you know if there are jobs in english that dont require Bachelors for native speakers?

    • @sirant
      @sirant  3 місяці тому

      Yes, there are jobs requiring English that can be had without a degree, but sadly, at your age, you wouldn't qualify for most. You simply could not work as a teacher of any kind without the degree, so your options are limited to industries like sales, hospitality and technology, but only management level or higher. To be considered, you would need to be classified as a "Foreign Expert", and at 21, they likely wouldn't think you had enough experience. Never hurts to try though.

    Didn't the government shut down training centers?

    • @sirant
      @sirant  4 місяці тому +1

      No, not at all. They did put in place stricter restrictions and shut down all the unlicensed or improperly licensed training centers, but companies like EF and other government regulated/approved training centers absolutely do exist.

    What are the typical qualifications for teaching in China?

    • @sirant
      @sirant  5 місяців тому

      Depends on what you are teaching. For English as a Second Language (ESL), a Bachelors degree in any field is required and a TESOL, TEFL or other ESL specific training certification is also required. Some training centers in the past provided their own training and certifications. But to teach academic course material, an actual teaching certificate or qualification is required and in some cases your Ba must be in Education specifically.
