OMG IT CAME OUT SOOOO GOOOOD!!! It was in my opinion, 95% close to liliha bakery chantily frosting!! i followed what you were saying in the video for the ingredients. We made an early mothers day dinner since my mom work on this mothers day weekend. Before, i tried this other chanitily cake recipe online (it was a local one); it was ok, but not as good as yours!!!! btw, for the chantily frosting, i added some cornstarch to help thicken it. Thank you beth for sharing this recipe!!!
I am a local girl that transplanted in Vancouver, Washington. This is my daughter's favorite cake and I wanted to surprise her for her birthday. Went to the bakery and they looked at me like I was crazy. They had no clue what I was talking about. Definitely a Hawaii thing! I can't wait to try your recipe.
I have heard of Chantilly cake, for some reason I think I saw a recipe in my Grams recipe box years ago. But I've never had it or heard anyone else mention it. But Boy does it look YUMMY! Thanks for letting us know how your mom is doing, glad to hear that she is doing well.
Oh my goodness! Thank you for sharing this recipe! Chantilly cake is my absolute favorite cake. It is almost midnight and I am now craving for a slice. haha! We have a bakery here on Maui called Komoda's and they have thee best Chantilly cake. Now, I can attempt to make my own. Mahalo again for sharing=)
Hi Beth! I made this recipe and tweaked it just a little. For the frosting, as it was cooking and bubbling, I sifted in 2 Tablespoon cornstarch to help it thicken. Also, I found after a couple of days in the refrigerator, the consistency is even better!
I'm born and raised in Hawaii but moved to Minnesota 12 years ago. I have been missing chantilly cake sooooo much. Can't wait to try your recipe. To answer your question, there is NO chantilly cake here (sad).
Looks amazingly delicious. I have never heard of Chantilly cake here in North Dakota. So glad I watch you and am exposed to new things I haven't heard of, but would love to try. Thank you Beth :)
I have never heard of a Chantilly cake. What is popular here in Texas is Tres Leche Cake. Three milks cake, it has evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream. Topped with a little fresh fruit. Soo Yum! That is one of my favorites. I definitely plan on making your cake! It sounds divine. Thanks for your wonderful cake. I know I am going to love it!
Hi Beth, lived in Hawaii for 25 years. Loved this cake and love your channel! Looks just as good as Liliha bakery! The frosting is so Ono! I agree. Thanks for posting the recipe. Keep up the aloha!
I lived in Hawaii 14 yrs and moved back to Ohio but they don’t have the Hawaiian chantily cakes. I haven’t had it for a long time So tomorrow I’m going to try out your recipe. Can’t wait.
Aloha from Honolulu. Liliha Bakery is 10 minutes from my home so easier to get it there and not make a mess in my kitchen. I will do your frosting and experiment with another cake recipe that is popularly with my family and friends. Mahalo 🌺
Came across this cake in Publix here in Florida. I looked at it and thought that isn't chantilly cake that I know back home. looked more like a fruit tart! Thanks for the local recipes!
Oh my! I think you did a great job! (You always do) Chantilly cake was one of the first things that I tasted when I moved to Hawaii. It was sooo good! I love watching your videos! You're so genuine and sweet. Mahalo! 🤗😊🌺🌈
This is by far my favorite cake ever! Born in Hawaii but live now in Albuquerque! Didn't think I could get one that tasted like Liliha's, but yours looks just as good! Much Aloha!
Wow A lot of work but it looks like it was worth it. I grew up in Massachusetts and my French grandmother was a great baker but I have never heard of this kind of cake.
I love chantilly cake and I found a place in San Diego where I live that has it! Id rather make it though because I like to tweak things to my liking. Thanks for sharing!!
Growing up in Hawaii myself , we had the opportunity to occasionally have Guava Chantilly cake for birthdays , so I just made one myself . I wasn’t happy with the cake recipe I followed my oh my gosh the icing was amazing. Will be trying your recipe. Keep up your making Hawaiian recipes! PS would love a macnut pie recipe. Hint hint
Aloha, Beth. That cake looks absolutely beautiful and mouthwatering. You are truly the queen of desserts and Hawaiian cooking. I hope my Cherry Cheesecake No Churn Ice Cream comes out around summer. I have a question: what's your favorite pumpkin recipe? Please let me know. Have a lovely day, Beth. Aloha! :) 💖💖💖
This is my most favorite cake ever! Standards bakery makes it here in On Big Island Kailua Kona. And you can even buy a Chantilly Roll cake version at the local gas stations
Looks wonderful. I’m going to try it. I gave up after other recipes didn’t come out good (frosting never thickened and slid off the cake...but it was still ono lol). I think chantilly IS a Hawaii thing. Can’t find it here in Texas. The only recipes online that are brownish-yellow are from Hawaii. All other chantilly recipes are a white whipped (the meaning of “chantilly” is whipped) frostings.
i love Chantilly cake so much!!!This is my favorite cake evahhh:) I'm so glad to see a recipe on here. I totally agree the frosting is the best part I usually get chantilly cakes at Zippy bc they always put a nice think layer of frosting on top ;)
this is my favorite cake!! Thank you for sharing! nobody makes it bete I the mainland not in tx, pa and Indiana.. love your cooking and crafting😉😉keep up the good work
I don't think I have seen this anywhere around here. I may have seen it in a cookbook, because it sounds familiar, but never had any..darn it! It looks like a special occasion cake to me!
I was fortunate enough to live on Oahu for a few years. I came to experience the Chantilly cake madness, and have never tasted anything close. We've tried to order it many times and I'm always let down. I've seen this similar recipe on the net, but I noticed the frosting is a bit off as well, not sure what it is. Maybe coconut? Idk. But I enjoyed watching!
I make my own & my friends here in NV are so abscess of Chantilly Cake. I looked for hawaiian bakery here that makes it but its not the same from back home. So I research the recipe & found Liliha Bakery recipe.
Here on Oahu, Kilani Bakery makes a delicious chantilly cake but like everything else, it’s quite expensive now. I’ve made other chantilly recipes but my chiffon always sinks. My Boyz don’t mind tho, they always request for this cake…with Mac nuts all ovah 🤙🏽
Maybe next time on the frosting, heat milk and vanilla and in a separate bowl whisk yolks and sugar and slowly temper your yolks with the heated milk then return the egg mixture into the pot to thicken and refrigerate.
Do they have this cake in other states? Yes, but not exactly. In other states they mix shredded coconut and chopped pecans into the chantilly icing, and call it German chocolate cake. Chantilly cake was something of a godsend for my brudder-in-law, who loves German chocolate cake but has developed a nut allergy. Chantilly icing doesn't bother him at all. He may miss the pecans, but at least he can have *most* of what he loves.
I’ve heard of chantilly cakes, but I don’t think they’re quite the thing in Kentucky as in Hawaii. I’ve always heard they are labor intensive. You make it look very easy though.

I've lived on the East Coast, West Coast, and in Louisiana. Chantilly HAS GOT to be a HI thing. I have never seen it since leaving home.
I have never heard of Chantilly cake until I came to Hawaii recently...I am from Youngstown Ohio. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

Hi Beth! YUM!!! Your cake reminds me of German Chocolate cake and/or Boston Cream Pie. I volunteer to do a taste test. LOL!
