Biggest baking mistake of my life. Let me explain. I baked this chantilly cake exactly as instructed to the letter. After I cut and served it to 10 guests for Easter everyone said it was the best cake they ever ate. My partner said it was better than Lady Jane's triple berry cake from LA that he used to love. The mistake is that now everyone wants this cake for their birthdays. Looks like I'm going to do this a dozen times this year. An absolutely exceptional cake that would easily win 1st place in any baking contest.

My 15-year-old daughter and I made this cake on Friday for my wife’s birthday. It came out GREAT! The recipe was clear and easy to use and the results were quite satisfying. I am a food professional so we have some acquaintance with making food. My wife is a foodie off the charts and a very talented cook. I made this for my granddaughter’s 19th birthday. It was delicious and beautiful. Only drawback was how quick the frosting started breaking down during cutting. It definitely needs to be kept cold. Awesome recipe.
I'm happy to hear that the cake was successful. You may have to chill the frosting and came layers first then decorate the cake. This will prevent the frosting from breaking up. I made this cake over the weekend and it was sooooooooooo delicious! The Chantilly was nice and fluffy, the cake was soft, the berries gave it such a nice fresh burst of sweetness without making the cake mushy AT ALL. Excellent!

Thanks…I Love this cake..I cheat and follow your recipe except for the frosting…I make my frosting from whipped cream …I fill one bowl with ice and place a stainless steel bowl over it to make my cream. Then I use a beater and after it’s starting to get fluffy I add Instant Jello vanilla pudding until it gets stiff enough to take shape with ripples. It will hold up great and easy to pipe fancy into a pipping bag. The main thing it’s a lot cheaper than mascarpone ( which I love) and won’t run after a while. As always, thank you for your thorough instructions . You are patient and clear.

I tried this recipe after moving to a town that didn't have a WholeFoods version of this cake. Short comment, Devine!!! I purchased a Publix's version & was let down They didnt have real fruit between layers. I have tried other recipes by Charlie over the years with great results. I'm surprised your Publix didn't have "real fruit between the layers" as I've only had this cake from Publix, and I've never had one without real layers of fruit. The Publix version is what brought me to search for this recipe and when I saw Charlie had a recipe for it, I knew I'd found the best because everything Charlie makes looks exceptionally delish! I have been hoping to try the one everyone raves about from Whole Foods Market as well.

I've found that some homemade cakes taste best after being in the refrigerator overnight. I think maybe the flavors meld, or something. I've never tried this cake, though... but it looks promising.

This is my favorite cake. I’m from Georgia where’s it popular but relocated to Philly several years ago and couldn’t find it anywhere. Bakeries had no clue what I was asking for 🤷🏽♀️. I finally found a version of it where they put simple syrup and water on the cake to make it moist. They also put honey in the icing. We’re talking a Jersey bakery who put their Italian twist on it. I didn’t care for it because the cake was “wet” and honey changed the flavor of what a traditional Chantilly cake taste like to me.
Charlie this is the best cake I have ever tasted in my life! I made this for my daughter’s birthday and took it to church and let me tell you not a crumb of it was left. Everyone that tasted it thought I bought it from a professional bakery! This cake is so worth the time it takes and I’ve already made it a second time. My whole house smelled like heaven while it was baking lol. I wish I could post a picture of how beautiful it was!

I made this cake for Easter Sunday. I followed your recipe EXACTLY (your instructions are fantastic by the way). I had one piece and my very weight conscious sister-in-law had one piece. Well, two of my nieces polished off the rest of the cake that evening calling it "the best cake they've ever had". This recipe is simply magnificent Mr. Charlie. Thanks…I Love this cake..I cheat and follow your recipe except for the frosting…I make my frosting from whipped cream …I fill one bowl with ice and place a stainless steel bowl over it to make my cream. Then I use a beater and after it’s starting to get fluffy I add Instant Jello vanilla pudding until it gets stiff enough to take shape with ripples. It will hold up great and easy to pipe fancy into a pipping bag. The main thing it’s a lot cheaper than mascarpone ( which I love) and won’t run after a while. As always, thank you for your thorough instructions . You are patient and clear.

I tried this recipe after moving to a town that didn't have a WholeFoods version of this cake. Short comment, Devine!!! I purchased a Publix's version & was let down They didnt have real fruit between layers. I have tried other recipes by Charlie over the years with great results. Reading reviews gave me confidence to try. Hands down THE BEST!!!! I Appreciate the history lesson and details to build it properly! The cake was consumed in 2 days. 😂

I'm surprised your Publix didn't have "real fruit between the layers" as I've only had this cake from Publix, and I've never had one without real layers of fruit. The Publix version is what brought me to search for this recipe and when I saw Charlie had a recipe for it, I knew I'd found the best because everything Charlie makes looks exceptionally delish! I have been hoping to try the one everyone raves about from Whole Foods Market as well.

I rarely leave comments or reviews but THIS cake is so good!!!! I made it last week for my mother's retirement. I asked my father to cut a piece for me while I multi-tasked. This is my favorite cake. I’m from Georgia where’s it popular but relocated to Philly several years ago and couldn’t find it anywhere. Bakeries had no clue what I was asking for 🤷🏽♀️. I finally found a version of it where they put simple syrup and water on the cake to make it moist. They also put honey in the icing. We’re talking a Jersey bakery who put their Italian twist on it. I didn’t care for it because the cake was “wet” and honey changed the flavor of what a traditional Chantilly cake taste like to me.

Charlie this is the best cake I have ever tasted in my life! I made this for my daughter’s birthday and took it to church and let me tell you not a crumb of it was left. Everyone that tasted it thought I bought it from a professional bakery! This cake is so worth the time it takes and I’ve already made it a second time. My whole house smelled like heaven while it was baking lol. I wish I could post a picture of how beautiful it was!
