One of my favorite bits of Bakugo’s character is that if you notice, he gives everyone nicknames because he can’t be bothered to remember their real names. However, during the cavalry battle, he starts calling Kirishima by his real name and here he starts off calling Uraraka “round-face” but by the end he was calling her by her real name. He only starts calling people by their names when they earn his respect.

Well.... except "Deku". Otherwise he would have started calling him by his actual name, the moment Midoriya defeated him in the 2v2 "villain vs heroes" mock battle, or after being bested in the race part of the festival.

@@Arbaaltheundefeated Nobody says "Wow Bakugou is such a good guy for doing this" it's very obviously a personality flaw that you are so stoked on yourself that you can only remember the names of people who you have respect for.
But a character doesn't need to be a great person to be enjoyable. Bakugous trait of only remembering the names of those he respects is a good trait in so far that it totally makes sense for the character and develops the character a little further by telling you that he doesn't let people in easily which is why it's all the cooler when he does actually develop friendships.
And most importantly it's a trait that allows to easily deliver exposition on the development of Bakugou and the characters he interacts with and you aren't being hit over the head with it like if Kirishima sat there and said to Kaminari "You know I think Bakugou respects Uraraka now".
About the Deku topic: People know that Bakugou knows Izukus name right? He doesn't say it on purpose because saying it would force himself to realize that he acknowledges him which his inferiority complex wouldn't allow.

if you can notice the sitting arrangement, it's actually a Bakugo tolerance chart, the closer they are to Bakugo the more they can tolerate him, the farthest side are people who probably actively avoids him.

I love how Monoma works because he acknowledges the strengths of others, he has to analyze things like Deku because he needs to know how people's quirks work. I also think his dynamic with Kendo is funny.
Monoma is the same with Shinso, they both need taunt so much to get payoff on their quirks unlike directly offensive types.

I love how bakugo respected both uraraka and deku this episode. He respected uraraka's strength and will. And he respected deku's strategic intelligence and threat to him. I had a different interpretation of bakugo talking to deku than you. My way of viewing it was bakugo was basically saying "youre the only one who was able to make her a threat to me." (After all, like you said, bakugo basically said during the fight "youre deku's friend so i knew youd be up to something"). And deku's response was basically "no. You clearly underestimated her."

He sees her as a selfless heroine who puts everyone else before herself.
She's been there to catch him emotionally everytime he's discouraged from the first time they met on the doorsteps of UA, to trying to give him her points to pass the exam, the practice battles, all the way to now putting him before herself even as she's heartbroken over her loss.

He gave his all fighting her and you can even see him beginning to have to deal his hands shaking due to the recoil from his explosions. Like she was genuinely wearing him out, but the moment she hit the ground, he dropped his fighting stance and backed up. And then it wasn’t until she started getting back up that he went back into the stance, and EVEN THEN he didn’t attack. In fact, Bakugo never truly went on the offensive during that fight; he only counterattacked. He was so cautious, because (like you pointed out) he knew she was capable and respects the hell out of her.

It's mostly just a trope in anime where an "older" woman (she's barely 30 but she's already considered old? Japan do be weird sometimes) is obsessed with youthfullness and everything related being young.
It's less of a "creepy obsession" and more of a "ah... to be young again" obsession.
There's a spin-off prequel to My Hero called "Vigilantes" where we see a younger Midnight (like 25-ish years old, more or less) and she's a bit more sus there.

If Todoroki and Bakugo allow a balance with Izuku, Ochaco is for me THE HEART of the series, not in terms of story, but in terms of sensitivity, generosity, kindness, all while being badass, cute, funny and determined.

Uraraka is forever GOATED imo, because even if you put aside that she strategized out on her own kinda exactly what Deku was gonna coach her into if she had let him, and to see her pour everything she had into the battle, especially once it came to the point where it would have been easier to just lie down and let it end, no, she poured out everything she had, and when she had nothing left, she did not throw in the towel, but basically said 'i will not go quietly'. Perhaps not with words, but definitely without reservation.
In the final accounting, the real ones saw her heart. And can you imagine the bragging rights her parents now have? Our girl stepped out onto the field with all the fierce determination one needs to sieze victory from overwhelming odds.

This fight is the moment that the show really struck a chord with me. Bakugo vs Uraraka is absolutely amazing - not just for showing the awesome powers they have and how scary Uraraka can be, but I love that only Aizawa and Bakugo show Uraraka the respect she deserves. I get the feeling from Aizawa that he's been through some real violent stuff compared to the other heroes, so he acknowledges Uraraka as a worthy foe. As for Bakugo, he is such a bully that violence and fighting is the only thing he really understands - he knows that going easy on her would be an unforgivable insult, and after getting outsmarted by Deku he knows he can't let his guard down around anyone he perceives as weak. He shows her genuine respect and chews out the guy who he thinks convinced her to do something that could have gotten her seriously harmed.
Just goes to show the layers of bias that hero society has, and how disillusioned characters like Bakugo and Aizawa can see right through it. I love the subtle commentary that keeps building up on this setting :D

It is actually a somewhat common trope/joke within japanese media for older characters... and i think people misunderstand it as being a lot worse than it actually is ? In Midnight's case in particular it is probably a bit more confusing since she is also "The R-Rated Hero"... so many people assume everything about her is perverse, and although she has some more sussy moments sometimes, i think the whole "youthful" thing is just suppossed to be a joke about her age.

Midnight is a big pervert. Especially in the dub. Remember that scene in an earlier episode where rhe students were like "i dont remember what happened so i forfeit."? In the dub, her response was like "such foolish selflessness. It turns me on." Or something like that

This is such a great episode. It has one of the most hype fights at the start and then hits you right in the feels in the second half. To this day I still get teary eyed when the scene where she talks to her dad starts. I've felt similar issues and frustrations that she felt in that moment so it feels 2real4me. Also Last episode I said you'd look good in Tsu's outfit. I think you'd look good in an Uraraka outfit as well, but I just don't feel like her hero outfit is that iconic. Honestly if you wanted to you could do their school sport outfit (the blue one with the white UA lines) that they all wear in this tournament arc. It's both iconic to this show and represent all of these wonderful beans! Can't wait to see your reaction to the next episode. Damn tomorrow's gonna be a treat!

The only thing that would happen guaranteed, is that bakugo wouldn't be able to touch the ground. I'm not sure how useful that is alone, but like you said he can move around in the air super easily.

    • @lodsup
      @lodsup Рік тому +1

i agree but it would help for sure. bakugo is used to moving around with his own body weight. if he's weightless he might try to boost around but that is just going to blast him around infinitely stronger than what he's used to. he cant attack with a strong enough attack because that will just propel him out of bounds. he cant control himself effectively either. but uraraka can still drop rocks and other stuff. when it comes to weightless air battles uraraka has more experience.

    • @TheJeSTeR7530
      @TheJeSTeR7530 Рік тому +2

The fight would not have been over when Uraraka touched him, thats for sure. But even so, sudden weightlessness is very disorienting, he would have had a much harder time navigating freely in the air and with how much force his blasts usually produce to move him in air, he could easily knock himself out of bonds on accident. The fight would not have been over, but it would have put Bakugo on the backfoot a bit, especially since Uraraka could then control when his weight returns, possibly slipping him up.

Miss Midnight has a whip that is used with some kink plays.
She is definitely very kinky and sex positive, but I she does care for the students as a teacher, it's just like .. Oshii no ko, part of the way some heroes present themselves is kind of an constant act which sorta became their persona.
Uraraka's parents are very nice, I guess she got her pureness from at least her dad.
And let's just say endavor is a bad father, but in this merrit and popularity based system, he is still the nr.2 out of all the heroes in Japan.
    He's doing, well something

In regards to Midnight, there's just a lot of dumbasses out there who think sexuality and wholesomeness are mutually exclusive. They see the BDSM outfit and jump to conclusions, thinking anything kinky that's not in their wheelhouse is automatically morally bad. Almost like guilt by association except the only associating happening is in people's assumptions/judgments.

About Midnight, so so she never out-right does anything to kids, it is all part of her being the R-rated hero, that if you ever read BNH:Vigilantes (that is a spin-off) she get more explanation on how and why she is like that (also lots of other heroes).

Keep in mind that Bakugo isn't trying to be a jerk, he's actually trying to be nice here. He doesn't want to hurt her, and he knows how much damage his power can do. Her power is more for search and rescue, his power is more for destroying things.
Also he has a bad case of RBF (resting B face), but most of the time he's not angry or trying to be intimidating, that's just his face.
Also, when he say "die" or anything related to death, that's usually just him saying sh*t to get pumped up. He doesn't actually want to kill anyone, he's just edgy like that.

Genuinely your the only reactor I've seen to point out that Bakugo was mad at Deku after the fight because he thought Deku set her up for failure with one of his crazy plans. Deku has been Uraraka's main inspiration, and her strategies in battle reflect that. So Bakugo noticed her tenacity, and thought of Deku. I love that moment because it cements that not only did Uraraka gain Bakugo's respect in the fight, he genuinely felt mad FOR her afterwords.

4:20 Alicia you can't just prewatch those episodes - that's Ant's job. xD
Also Bakugo is definitely his self-insert. Which would work with her being your self-insert.
9:40 Fun thing to notice - Bakugo was only using his right arm this whole time. The weak point of his power is storage and the force of explosions affecting his body. That's why he has gauntlets and small grenades in his hero costume design.
You can see that he barely countered that and it heavily affected his left arm. But by using only the right one before - it was the only way why he could store enough sweat on his left hand. He knew she would plan something (mostly because he expected Deku to make a plan for her) , even if he didnt predict what it would actually be.
10:40 Other thing - he calls her by her name here. With Bakugou it's always those small details that actually show his real personality. Mind you this is even harder to notice in anime, because manga does sometimes include his thoughts, where anime cuts a lot of it (there is one arc later on, where he has full on monologues about other people, that we never see in the anime, that show a lot of depth to his explosive character).
18:55 Nah its definitely the "babies" type of thing. But there are more creepier moments for her. I mean she is also wearing basically nothing aside some harnesses and bats, which is not an appropriate clothes for a teacher. Even if it is needed for her to use her abilities.

I can see how people would think Midnight is gross, but that's not the read I get on her. She says things like "That turns me on" but I equate it to Bakugo telling everyone to DIE it's just using a phrase to emphasize strong emotion. Alternatively it may turn her on but more in a sense of the passion or love that these kids are doing turns her on cause she loves that shit but she's not attracted to the kids themselves.

Uraraka's strategies were good, but Bakugo is a beast who never holds back. She did great at holding out though.
Turning the crowd against him would have been a clever idea. It's not what she went for, but playing on his emotions like that could have been a very clever way to throw him off.
Deku kind of underestimated her, but I chalk that up to Bakugo being this larger than life figure in Deku's mind. The benchmark to beat one day.
Sadly every body has its limit.
Bakugo's respect is loud and hot.
Yeah, we stress more about possibly losing than after having lost.
Kiri didn't just win the strength contest, but a bromance for the ages.
It might be because I watch the dub or just me, but Midnight definitely gives off some vibes these kids are too young for.
Remember that Deku is a hero fanboy in general, and that Endeavor is ranked 2nd, with only All Might above him. So for Deku to give Endeavor a piece of his mind is a pretty big deal.
Shiggy isn't just watching, he's being lightly coached.
"He's ugly" Was waiting for that. From his personality to his grease to dry cracked skin.
Next time, the successors of the top two duke it out in what is sure to be a very volatile match.

Midnight is complicated. In the dub she says stuff that real fucking sus. But in the sub its not that way. She makes general statements that are meant to sound sensual but thats her gimmick. Its not a directed statement.
Her hero persona is The R Rated Hero so she has handcuffs on and she uses a flogger thats shes been swinging around this whole arc. But even the sus stuff she says has always felt like more of a persona thing? Like, almight saying "Im here!" Midnight says something that illudes to sensuality.
I personally love Midnight. I think that she is such a strong woman, a veteran in the hero scene and one of the most loyal heros in the business. BUT i also get it when people dont feel the same way i do.
    Like i said. Its complicated.

i dont know what would she achieve by making him float . Bakugo can fly using his explosions. Uraraka can direct him to step away from the ground , she has no control over the things she floats . So bakugo would still be in the ground and that might make him imbalance a little but his skills are high enough to get his balance back and the antigravity thing might just help him move even faster
