My 3.5 year old male Golden Retriever is a sucker for female golden labs!!!! He makes a bee line and humps when ever he sees one!
We had our male golden neutered at 14 months and is perfectly healthy so far and not over weight. Our vet told us to wait until after 1 year to neuter. Seems to be sound data 👍
Our golden retriever named Hugo newer really grow up, even though he didn't had as much energy when he got old he was as playful at 11 as he was as a puppy and he still believed he was a puppy trying to sit in my lap if I was sitting on the floor
He was also very clever and told us in his own way when he wanted to go for a walk
He would go to the hallway and catch the leach from where it hung, straiten it out on the floor then fold it in his mouth and drop it in front of you and then go to the front door, he would also do this if we asked him if he wanted to go for a walk often when we had finished eating dinner
he always new when my father would arrive and stand by the door and wait for him
he also knew when it was time to go to bed
Sometimes he would run away, one time he ran away to our neighbor who had some cats witch he loved to visit, this time he saw that the front door was open so he went to the flowerbed and picked a big sunflower and then he went inside and gave the flower to our neighbor wife and then he ate the cat food
Our neighbor called my mom and told her what an well behaved dog we had that brought her flowers when he came by for a visit LOL
He also loved tennis balls and one time I put four new ones in front of him to see what he would do when I told him to pick up the balls up and give them to me. He would struggle a little at first but he did bring me all four balls, two in the back and two in the front of his mouth.
Great video! I had a female golden, and i only heard her bark 2 or 3 times her whole life! just one bark each time..... almost like she was just testing to make sure it still worked! OH and her name was Daisy! haha!

meanwhile my golden girl puppy (7mo) barks ALLLLL THE TIME. when she was tiny she barked for attn. now she barks when she hears someone outside. really scary deep "I'M GONNA KILL YOU" barks. but then if she actually sees them, she runs over for hugs and kisses 🤦🏻
My golden boy hasn't barked in over 5 years. He's seven now. He cries when he knows he's gonna be fed when he hears the bag opening. Then scarfs it down so fast like he hasn't eaten in weeks.

We used no trainng or tricks for him not barking. We don't care either way if he does or doesn't bark. That's just the way he turned out. We have a female golden that barks when she sometimes sees us outside, and she barks more ofted, but not so much either. Time will tell if she continues to bark, and for what reasons. It is more annoying if a dog does bark, but then sometimes you perhaps want to know the dog's reasons for barking..@@preciiousofficial
I live in Australia and have had goldies for many years, i would not wantnto be without one.
My present seven year old is a big male still with everything he was born with, yet he is the most lovable dog you could wish to meet.
At seven, and being a fair sized dog, he still likes to try andd sit on my lap but only half of him fits, but he is happy with that.
His name is Sebastion.
He hates thunder and hides behind the chairs or tries to get onto my chair with me, he does not show the slightest signs of agression and actually runs away from a fight, loves children and will spend all day sitting by the fence watching the kids next door and if he gets a chance would be with them in seconds, he has certain toys that he will walk about with in his mouth all day untill there is food about.
I rwally feel these are wonderful dogs as a companion although when he changes coat he does it in a big way with sometimes a bucket full of hair
From one brushing, so you do need a good vacuum for the house, a small price to pay for such a good pal.!!!!!
We have two Goldens...They run to the front door barking even when the neighbor across the street shuts a car door.
Also bullet was potty trained at 4 months hes so smart I love him
My golden is named Ice hes only 6 months old so we havent got to see that much with him, But as i keep saying he and him you already can tell hes a male. And Ice does not really bark, like only barks when he is Locked up (Only for Emergencys or if we HAVE to paint something and make sure hes safe) Or at the vaccum, Idk if you believe me but he also barks to protect me, But if any of those things dont happen you will never see him bark. And we dont to those often at all so im Glad, im a kid, And even at 6 months he is so gentle and loving, Ice is the best dog ever!!♡♡♡
My Pablo turns 21 months old today. He is the goodest big goofy boi ever. He is patient and considerate with people and animals. He is the best thing to ever happen to me. He loves sticks and females in heat. He weighs a lean 42kg so he is quite large but not fat. He is e best and I hope he lives long and I can make him happy and tired!
Also I personally find people resort to neutering to quickly. Like low energy dogs are akin to well behaved dogs. But if you just spend the time training your dog he will be well behaved and high energy when he is allowed. Cutting the balls off a dog because he is too playful rather than teach him to behave and master his emotions is what I often see. My Pablo will keep his!

My super senior is 17 years old male Golden Retreiver name Lucky. Walk slowly and sleep alot nowadays. I am not a fans neutering my dog. My boy still a happy, love all his food, smile alot, love car ride like a puppy❤

My male golden retriever learned to go outside to pee... by imitation... following the female that was 3 months older.
Having a good role model is a short cut to raising a well behaved puppy!
@@goldenhearts8822 actually the female never did it inside the bedroom (wooden floor) she used the imitation leather's bed for that and slept on the floor... there was no real need to teach her... once she had access to the backyard it was nature taking its course...

Got our male 'English cream' after he was neutered and near 2 years old. No humping, no puppy stage, no hiking the leg to pee, no nothing. Rarely barks.

My golden male lived to 12 years. He had no illnesses, and still bounced around like a puppy. He was never neutered. I have a 9 month puppy today, and after watching this, plus my experience, I don't think I will get him neutered either. I had a female who was fixed and died of cancer tumors at 8 years. My large yard is well fenced, and I always keep my darlings on leash when we go anywhere. Never had any problems with mine around other dogs either.

Edit: oh I also forgot to mention that I actually wanted a male and had even asked the person to keep a male for me but he forgot so when I got it there there weren't any males so I ended up with my little devil

Been debating getting my male Brantley fixed, Im worried because he is 8. His marking when we go on walks since we moved and now have neighbors is making walks unbearable. But it makes me wonder if i even should, since he is already 8 and is in good health, slightly above target weight
My boy Odins dad was fucking huge at 110 lbs. he had a completely cream coat and Odin looks just like him. I love him, but man he is a handful lol

i just got a golden retriever puppy. i’ve had her about 5 days now. she’s doing really good about going outside and pottying! i’ve only had 2 accidents in the house, which was my fault for not catching it before hand. i’ve seen several videos saying to wake your puppy up from sleeping to take them out around 2am every morning. but i don’t recall my parents doing that with our family dogs. they learned to sleep through the night and go in the morning. do you recommend waking them up to take them out? or teaching them to go in the mornings first thing and last thing at night? i feel guilty for waking her up! she’s around 8 weeks old!
In my lifetime our family has had 10-ish dogs, we always let them out just before bed, then first thing in the morning, go ahead and set a routine and keep to it, they always adapted.
You don't need to do that. Train them to sleep inside a crate and wake them up at 6am everyday. They might pee inside the crate. Clean up the mess. Slowly they will adapt to your routine. Dogs don't like to mess up in the place where they sleep and play. Stop giving liquids after 7pm. My golden is 8 months old and he controls pee n potty for 8 full hours and he sleeps through the night
About neutering goldens...I don't understand why vet clinics want to neuter your puppy ASAP. For one, health issues arrises from that as this video states. Are they looking to set up your dog for health issues later that they can try and resolve with money? Know this; that a golden MUST develop fully first before considering being neutered. Their head must be fullly developed before neutering. When you neuter your dog, the hormones that make a dog develop properly, and develop his bones correctly need all the hormones it can get so the develpment needs to take place before being neutered. The leg bones get deformed if you take away the dogs hormones prematurely. Legs have two bones each primarily. One will grow faster than the other if you neuter too soon. The skeletal headbone will deform partly if you neuter too soon. Allow your dog to develop hormonally first before you take his hormones away by neutering too soon. Why don't the vets tell you this stuff??? That's troubling to me, and more so for your beautiful golden. Put if off for 2 to 3 years.
So my golden retriever has not been neutered and doesn’t hump. Like at all, should that be a concern? By all means I’m super happy we don’t have to deal with that but I find it odd

Hi my golden "Jill" wakes up at 5.30am..he goes to bed at 10pm. Any suggestions to increase the duration. He wants food at 5.45am . He is 5 months old
you named a boy dog jill? why? but to answer your question, just don't get up. even if she tries to wake you up pretend to sleep. when i got my pupper she was 8wks old and she'd try to wake me up at 6am every day. i just ignored it. i did however make sure she had an autofeeder, fresh water, and a place to potty. now she generally sleeps til 9-10am every morning. if she wakes up early she'll go entertain herself and help herself to food/water/potty. sometimes if she wants to sleep in she'll snooze til noon 😆

We named Jillu cos we call new borns using the name jillu when we cuddle and pamper them. BTW thanks for your help. My jillu is now 8 months old and he stopped crying for foodat 5am😛.. I feed him at 7.30. We take him for every potty walk. He loves walking with us and so we do 3 times a day 20 mins each time. We are also training him for obedience inside and outside the house.

my boy brady is 5 months. Once potty trained I stopped giving him food right after as I am not a morning person. First time in ignore second time let them out for me.

I am not a fan of neutering or spaying dogs. It takes away their character.
Vasectomy may be a better option for make dogs, in case you want to . For female dogs, "ovary sparing spay" is a better alternative.

mine is pretty scared. i had another golden that would be at the beach for hours but this one is very reluctant and has no use for water
My golden was scared of water at first. I got him to go in the water by throwing a stick in the lake for him to retrieve. He couldn’t resist the temptation and after a few attempts, finally swam out to get it. Once he discovered water he absolutely loved it. Sometimes you have to get them to realize its nothing to be afraid of. But don’t throw them in, do it in a way that is fun for them. Their natural instinct to retrieve in water will flip on like a switch.

It's normal they sleep alot as pups. But if they just want to sleep and not eat or stay awake for period time you might need to seek Veterans. Our he is 9 weeks he sleep after his meals, well he play a bite than falls a sleep lol. And naps
My Golden will be 11 on April 11th 2023. He’s had the same vet since he was 8 weeks old. I told my daughter pick that one he had the smallest paws out of a litter of 11 so in my pea sized human brain I’m thinking he won’t be a big dog. Umm his top weight was 102 pounds and there was not one ounce of fat on him. For about the last five years he hovers between 89 to 92 lbs. he’s an AKC registered purebred so he’s all golden and my vet says he’s just a healthy big boy. My vet also refuses to neuter any of the big dogs before they are a year old.
He feels they need the testosterone for healthy bone growth. I decided not to neuter mine and other than some of the typical environmental allergies a lot of Goldens are prone to he’s been a healthy boy
