    Going up is sometimes easier than a controlled descent.
    Fowler DCC engine (Double Crank Compound) made the grade look easy.

      Traction engines do not have brakes so yes coming downhill can be challenging!!

      @@barryphillips7098Some have a band brake like the Allchin operated by a hand wheel on the tender.
