Another way to spell 'ass-kickingness' is 'R', 'W', 'A', 'K', 'E'. Enough Rwakes and rock might again begin to amount to something worthwhile. Raw. Authentic with no pitiful, lame mannered vocal. No robotic speed solos devoid of rhythmic feel. No BS. Take no prisoners. If only more of us lived life the way Rwake play their music, I'd be able to consistently wake up in the morning with a smile of optimism lighting up my face.
The rage of this song sounds so enclosed yet so open at the same time. The crushing riffs, haunting vocals and just general awesomeness. I think I've found a new favourite band
I saw them at a coffee shop in Paragould Arkansas which I think was called The Drip. They played with a couple of other bands (The Ridin' Dudes, Drowning Ophelia, and one I can't remember). I remember a friend of mine had to help him set up Rwake's VHS player. They played the anal rape scene from I Spit on Your Grave during their set. It was an all ages show.
The drumming in this is amazing! Actually, the whole band is amazing. Hard to believe they could get better then this but they have, Rest is f'n superb.
I love the Davy Crockett hat. It may have nothing to do with the music, but somehow it just makes it that much more amazing. It says 'I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks about me, I'm here to blister your ears and melt you souls with SLUDGE!!!'
Okay my friend, I dug out my vinyl, the lyrics are inside... here you go!: Phase transitions, The universe changes its form and its properties into water, water changes its form and to the swine, though the divide he loses mind and his design, create, evolve, and align, the seventh day design earth two angels carry out war in the name of god, kill fight conquer, followers of Christ assume leviticus, exodus, hexagram ian omps psalms evolve, become none!!! That's all the vinyl has for lyrics for this song. CT through a few other vocal parts into the song that aren't with the lyrics, but this is 90%. Hope this makes you happy and you are still using this UA-cam account, it's been 12 years!
Esta es de las mejores bandas que he descubierto en el último tiempo, hace mucho no encontraba una que me pusiera los pelos de punta, por dios que riffs, que atmósfera, brutal.
a great band, out of little rock arkansas. something worthwhile. the singer had a side project called "powerbastard", also worth checking out. a live video is on you tube.
I don't want to sound like a noob or anything, but I just discovered this band. And I fucking love the guitar work. I'm a guitarist myself, and I think these guys just inspired me to work on a new tune. :D
@megadethfan110 .....or early Mastodon sounds like watered down RWAKE. These guys/gal have been around forever. They were destroying the south long before Mastodon was a band, each album is fucking KILLER, and i doubt CT + B will ever run their vox through the dreaded "Warner Brothers box"
Earth two angels Carry out war In the name of God Kill fight conquer Followers of Christ assume Eviticus exodus hexagram Ian omps psalms Evolve become none
Cysquatch: A one-eyed sasquatch that can see into the future. Usually a benevolent creature. SEE: Mastodon - Blood Mountain - Circle of Cysquatch Websters Dictionary... maybe one day?
@jjtb5 i never thought about that and i was jus tryin point somethin out that i noticed and not tryin to say a band is not metal. i guess i wrote it wrong.
@RushYesCrimson I say this is more sludge metal than doom, specifically sludgecore. But whatever, sludge has doom traits anyway, and this kicks ass anyway.
Phase transitions The Universe changes its form And its properties into water Water changes its form And to the swine though the divide He loses mind and his design Create, evolve and align The seventh day Design
@megadethfan110 I know that you posted that comment over a year ago, but I'd just like to point out that early Mastodon "borrowed" most of their sound from Today is the Day.
every time i try to find the lyrics for Leviticus' i get the Band leviticus!! all i can figure out is: The Universe Is Changing It's Form From Disharmony Into-Order or Water?? im not sure. Then i picked out: The Seventh Day. Then something about God.
2023, and RWAKE is STILL out here blowing open the doors of perception... 🔥

RWAKE makes me happy.
I'd love to see an RWAKE / Deadbird/ Kylesa tour hit this area.
Its a shame bobby is no longer with us.. his genius was epic...
first time i hear about this band, this is so obscure and doom, love it, totaly digging for the album
Love his hand expressions.
I saw these guys years ago before Relapse Records days, when they played in a pizza shop. Good times.
I saw them in either 2000 or 2001 at a little bar in texarkana. Amazing. Been obsessed since then.
I'm going to guess it was Vino's in Little Rock. CT does the booking there.
Was it Vino's? I always caught them at Downtown music.
@@Meuterei always caught them at downtown music.
the closing riff is even greater
Awesome Progressive Sludge!
JOY
RWAKE is in my top 10 favorite bands

I'm right at the loo listening to this and reading the comments, then I stunbled upon this one. Had to crawl back up, I was laughing so hard.
The opening riff was great.
Best underground metal bands: Rwake, Acid Bath, Nothingface, COC, Artimus Pyledriver, Skeletonwitch, Toxic Holocaust, and Alabama Thunderpussy.

I found this band when looking up an album by "The Ocean" on iTunes :)

true sound of fury
Leviticus is the name of the song! not the band. dont worry. The band is RWAKE!!
doom has certainly evolved over the years. but it's core spirit, i believe, will always be the same.
This is one of my favorite bands. Fucking awesome.
what are the lyrics?? i cant even find them on google!
Rwake is better than every band.
