Thank you for your video. It turns out my torch’s wire was shorting out at the crimp point on the spring clip. It took me 10 minutes to fix. You saved me $45 and a drive to Home Depot.
You have over 24K views of this video so far. Even if only half of the people that watched it were able to repair their torch rather than buy a new one, then collectively you’ve saved us over half a million dollars. We’ll done Sir! 👏

You need a light shining on what your doing, as well as having what your fixing up in the camera, your hand blocks for the most part what your doing.
    Just a thought

Great video! Same thing happened to mine and here's how I fixed it:
After removing the nozzle I just removed the clip and left the wire there. Then I made a round sleeve out of some plastic from a milk jug about an inch long to act as an insulator. Slid the sleeve down the barrel, bent the wire so it was close enough to the barrel so it would ark. Put the nozzle back on and it worked. You may have to play with the position of the wire but this is how I mixed mine.

8000 series, I had spark with no ignition, followed your steps to take it apart. A spider made its home in the tube. Cleaned the tube with a pipe cleaner and it fires right up. That may be the problem some are having, if you have spark. Punch your bore with a pipe cleaner after you establish spark.
Thanks so much for taking the time to post this.

46 miles and well over an hour drive. Yup. Thanks for the video. Last year I was given a number of torches to fix in this mechanism. I had maybe a 50% success rate. This year its the same torches with the same problems. I think I can do better now. Oh, and I discovered that you can test the piezoelectric mechanism by arcing on your finger. I don't recommend that.

Unfortunately I have spark and it lights when the tip is off but not when I put it back on even tho i can see it sparking..... hmmmm
True mapp gas was apparently discontinued in 2008 and this yellow bottle is map/pro NOT mapp gas.
It will only light with the spark of the ts8000 in higher oxygen with the tip off but will light using a basic flint striker.
I took it apart and the only problem i found is the spark grounding occasionally to the lock button.
It has good spark so the problem has to be the gas has been changed.

@@SteeveeDan I can see the spark inside the nozzle area. It might light one time and burn with a short flame with yellow on top of a little bit of blue. Just not enough force I guess. I'm pretty sure the mechanism inside the lower part is jammed up. I squirted some WD-40 in the little hole then chased it with air pressure. Still works the same. I guess I'll just scrap it and buy another one, keeping this one for parts.

You can't just add a piece of wire, because the spark will most likely occur where you put the 2 wires together. You would be better off replacing the whole wire.
