Coz u can't do that against Oz, India even in ur home. Today India scored 297 in T20 against full strength BD.... is there anything to be proud of for Indians ? NO ! We know BD are glorified minnows.
These guys forget how goood Cook was, at one point I thought he was nailed on for Sachins record, a quiet last couple of years and an early retirement put that Sachin out of reach
The difference is Cook was declining for 2-3 years before he retired. Root is playing better than ever and his average has been going up year on year since 2020. He could obviously lose form or get injured and it’s still a tough job to match Tendulkar, but he’ll get pretty close.
I don't think anyone has "forgot" how good he was? But Cook was seriously poor to the latter stages of his career. Root is somehow just getting better and better 🤞
Cook stopped churning out regular 100s after the end of that triumphant India tour 12 years ago. He’d only score occasional ones after that and of course went about 2 years without one. He’d make a succession of low scores and then suddenly deliver a double say. It was quite odd. He definitely retired at the right time and what a wonderful way to bow out scoring a century.
Root has a hunger for the game which cook didn't have in my opinion. When he wasn't playing he went back to his farm, when england aren't playing now root is still at work in the nets. He clearly lives for batting, like boycott but with attacking shots and fewer domestic abuse claims...
Only India has forced this England team to abandon their Bazball approach when they toured earlier this year. In one of the test England scored at 1 RPO. In fact India scored at a quicker rate than England the whole series.
Cos you have day 5 pitches on day 1. It's impossible to attack. It's almost impossible to compete. It's the only way Indians can feel good about themselves.
Thrashing pakistan in tests doesnt count any more. Its just a free stat booster for the opposition. I mean they scored 400+ (declared) against Bangladesh in the first innings and lost the test match. So nothing to get too crazy about 😂😆😆

@@stevehall9333 nah it wasn't anything like T20. The Bangladesh thrashing at the hands of India after the first 3 days were rained out was more interesting to watch. Leach's run rate was less until Pakistan had significant runs on the board and were teeing off, at which point he bowled more than Bash because he had shown better control. Bashir has that one great delivery in him and the wicket he did take always a beaut and has great potential but Leach is just simply better at the moment and will be for the foreseeable.
@@aidanwatson3499 depends who they’re playing against. If Aus have five left handers in the top 7 I’d pick bashir, even now. Leach’s avg against left handed batters is higher than Roots overall bowling avg in test cricket

Without wishing to detract from Brook’s remarkable achievements despite his young age, there remains an issue, I think, about his vulnerability to short balls at pace. People say every batsman is vulnerable to that. But that’s not true. Root isn’t.
Leach is a slightly better version of nathan Lyon, Lyon is god aweful. He is the type of bowler that should be hammered all over the ground. He has limited skills. The whole aussie bowling unit is very heavily over rated. They all need significant help from the umpires not calling things correctly.

Sri Lanka are a good side, would put them well above South Africa or New Zealand at present. Australia is an easy place to bat, and even bad England sides didn't struggle. The problems were always with taking 25 wickets, given that we almost always take an appallingly bad keeper.
