It became evident since Reagan that many Americans saw their dreams dying, the wealth gap grew, pensions and good full-time work disappeared, and Anti Labor Union organizations busted Unions. Many Americans were looking for someone to fix our dying dream. Of course, he was full of crap, had no interest in anyone but himself, and basically conned millions of Americans. Many Americans may not want to let go of that "dream". 40 years of mental health issues as we found ourselves falling further and further into poverty and despair takes a toll. I am in my 60s, a lifelong Republican until Trump was elected. I was astonished then. Now I'm independent and I actually feel sorry for all of America because of what Trump and the Republican Party actually did to drive the wedge even deeper into the heart of this amazing country. Trump has been trying to demonstrate that the courts are against him - he’s “not allowed” to speak or testify, his witnesses are “not allowed” to talk. Putting Costello in jail would just be something Trump would point to on appeal.

Hi Brian - a quick story. About 35 yrs ago I was in college with many friends on NYE. We all got a bunch of rooms at hotel to celebrate. We all met in lobby (craziness had already started and was around 10pm). As we waited we had a female cop come over and ask us to leave. We refused explaining we had rooms there. Being the planner and one of the hosts I stepped in telling the cop we had rooms and waiting on others. She said leave or you will be arrested. I said for what? She slammed hand cuffs on me. Also I had not been drinking yet - just as a note. My friends found Mgr and verified we had rooms. Cop said I already arrested him, I cannot unarrest him. I spent NYE in jail with a bunch of drunks. Here is my point - on my trial I had 12 friends from that night show up to support me in court and willing to testify to the cops behavior. TWELVE. They didn't have to and judge threw the case out. It was never put on my record. This was a minor thing and something that others who cared about me were willing to support me. Trump a former PRESIDENT & CELEBRITY facing felony charges & jail time had ZERO people show up for 5 weeks. What does that tell you about the man? Something to think about.
