Broadway Bomb Race 2009: Longboarding NYC
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 бер 2010
- New York's longboarding push race free-for-all, straight down Broadway. Follow Brian Bishop pushing hard through the heart of NYC (and ~6 miles of traffic) on a slightly modified coarse to the finish of the 2009 Bomb.
If you missed the Broadway Bomb in 2009, be there (New York City) this October 2010 to add your name to the list of entries in what is quickly becoming THE signature longboard push race. Special thanks to Sam Houston and Dane Webber. - Спорт

i have mad respect for the cameramen in boarding videos...they often go unappreciated but they have to keep up while keeping a steady shot and watch where they're going...props bro

I love the broadway bomb and all, but the guys in this vid are blowing it bigtime. Skitching cars in traffic, almost hitting cars, RUNNING RED LIGHTS?!?! the fuck is wrong with you guys? You don't ever challenge a 2000lb death chariot on a normal day, so why on the bomb day?
It's definitely a skate at your own risk type of event and people make their own choices on how risky they want to be. Is it the smartest thing? No. Events like this are awesome because a large portion of the longboarding community gets together to skate. Hopefully no one ever gets seriously injured as that's something that could ruin longboarding events in general. My hope is that one day an event this large can get sanctioned and we won't have to worry about 2000 lb death chariots. -Lindsay
Safety in numbers
+Longboards by Original Skateboards I thought you guys were going to be fine. Except, it was that guy who only wore underwear, there was a chance he could of fell, and that scratch had a chance to scrape him in most spots.
Its part of events like this and just riding in nyc in general. Quit your crying Karen.
I wish they wouldn't scare the shit out of so many drivers. Gives longboard riders a bad rep.
Who cares, let them live there lives :D
I don't really have much of an ability to change this. It's more important to fight the global shift to the right ;-)
Ed Oldridge Well, if they keep doing shit like this, they won't be here to live their lives.
***** but they die doing what they love, why die when you've never lived!
Phats I didn't say they shouldn't skate. They should just do it in a safe environment. It's self-centered what they're doing. If that cab driver hits them, he's probably going to jail. Their stupid game will ruin someone else's life. I don't care if they want to fuck up their own. Why should they fuck up someone else's?
MTV presents: JACKASS THE LONGBOARD EDITION
Good to see so many longboarders in the same place completely owning the road! Good stuff!
What i love most is that Originalskateboards actually reply's to the comments. +1 respect guys!!! hope you guys continue doing what you love!
His leg is gonna be sore for dayz
Got a little scared for u when that car came out of nowhere
I'm 14! I'm the only longboarder in my town of 816 people. I have been boarding for 3 years! I love it!
@Originalskateboards all the passion for skating in your vids is really something guys, Keep at it your'e all an inspiration to skaters everywhere.
Last time i do skateboard, it was two days ago in France, i fucking do a powerslide on a little road of the rich's district.
Result, hit on my back by a SUV and a broken feet XD
Love longboarding and everything about it / but u guys not showing a good example how to ride on streets /especially ignoring red lights.. This time thumbs down 👎
Janis Buko it's new york. Everyone does that
You not from here you from some suburban place but this is how it is in the city no pussies
Actually imma have to agree with the others on this one same shit in Philly bouls just don’t give a fuck
This is too chill to be a race. I cant wait for this years race.
"yeah its a shortcut" next cut "are we still with the guys??" :D love it!
286 people forgot to lube their bearings...
Hey I not the only one that likes pokemon and longboards, some guy was dressed up as a Pikachu
It's was amazing, thanks for sharing the experience!
Oh yeah ! this is the best longboard video which I ever seen.
I would do this but obeying the road laws
Cutting in front of cars is disgraceful
Tisk Tisk
+mikachu871 yeah i have been to NY
People commit murder all the time as well. Doesn't mean it's not....frowned upon? ;)
You and 13 other people must be so fun at parties.
I've lived in new york for over 25 years actually. fuck people who do this. have known a lot of of biker/skater friends who have died. think im exaggerating? i actually just had a friend get killed 6 months ago even though he was following traffic laws. doing this just puts not only you in danger, but everyone on the street.
I liked this video but I gave it a thumbs down because you guys kept running the red lights. that could have seriously injured someone and smashed someone's car up pretty bad. I think as moving objects on the road you need to obey traffic laws just like the other objects. riding longboards is cool, endangering people's lives is not.
I actually hope that happens to them because they should learn a lesson
@@countdoom1778 its just a bit of fun, dont be such a spoiled sport
It's just a one-off occasion
i wish i had the oportunity to try longboard, most of all i wish i had a group of friends ... even just one would be so good.. great videos, im hooked on them, thanks for sharing. cheers.
Awesome video, can't imagine what it's like to roll with such a huge crowd, and shred the New York city streets.
Hands up if your a New Yorker! 😍👏
thumbs up : ) on mobil
✋🏾
wow these guys got to be kidding me one day it's going to be a dump truck with old brakes
Hi Marc! Mrskike made a good suggestion with the Pintail 37! It's a great beginner board and super easy to learn on. Since you're just learning you can totally stick with the standard set up until you know which style of riding you want to focus on, and then you can get upgrades. -Lindsay
you guy are awsome. i love your videos and i preteymuch spend hrs watching, keep it real.
When's the next one I wanna go ...
Did you know, that Michael changed his middle initial from an "A" to a "J" so that his name didn't sound like "Michael's a Fox" ? Original fact of the day.
Thats really awesom.
Good job guys! :D
@powndown we use FedEx so once the board ships it only takes about 2 business days to get to you! Once you order the board usually takes around 3 business days to leave our warehouse depending on how busy things are here
The good old times. Brings back memories. Now you can't do this without a cop putting a few holes in you for obstructing the pavement.
The Broadway Bomb is usually on October. The date isn't ever confirmed until just a few weeks before it happens.
Yep! That is the old 2009 version. The new 2013 Apex 37s just came out. Things have come a LONG way since the 2009 BWay Bomb that's for sure.
I like how high quality this is for an 11 year old video
@OrangutanPower right now the person answering your comment is Lindsay :-) Thanks for the support. Lots of comments to answer, but I love doing it
more vids like this dude they're awesome!!!
thanks for the help! really appreciated it :)
Longboarding looks so fun and relaxing! :) definitely want to try
It’s crazy how I was 8 when this happened. I’m 18 now
Check our the Freeride 38 rocker concave. Keep the deck top mounted and you'll be able to cruise and carve easily. It's a great board to learn slides with, and because it is low to the ground and stable, the board is easy to learn basics on as well. -Lindsay
great video!! thanks
Awesome video
It is so incredible that you guys actually read through the comments so quickly, I love your videos and I would love to ride one of your boards! :( Unfortunately I don't have the money
RAD!! Props from australia, this looks like so much fun!!
Ha! Great race, Bishop, but you reminded me of the Premium Rush movie but on a board. Really had to get out of the way in the intersection.
Hey MikeJames! Thanks for the constant support and kind words! Hopefully we can get you on a longboard soon so you can join us in the next Broadway Bomb! -Lindsay
@chilidog106 if you're just starting out then I suggest the Pintail 43. It's a great beginner through advanced board. The Pintail 43 is lower to the ground, making pushing easier, and it's also a stiffer board, giving you more stability. You may also want to put either red, or white springs in your trucks for added stability.
If you are looking for just cruising purposes then I suggest the Pintail 43 with S8 trucks and red medium tension springs. This set up would be great for your height and allow you to have a wider stance. It's lower to the ground and stable which is great for cruising, and the S8 trucks will allow you to carve easily as well. -Lindsay
it generally does end fine if you know what your doing. i live in nyc. i have been skating for 2 years. been hit by far too many cars and i still do it. for only one reason. the adrenaline rush from skating in between the worst drivers in the world and running red lights and being faster than cars is truly amazing.
Hey Original, im thrilled to know that you guys are holding the Broadway bomb race still, because from what i heard they told me they "ban" the race due to the danger of the race, so if the race does happen where can i go to be informed on the exact date, me, along with my crew will def show up. thanks again original! and keep making these great vids!
The Pintail 37 would be an easy board for you to learn on. It's lower to the ground which keeps the board stable, and it's easy to push. It's meant for cruising and carving. -Lindsay
Videos like this are amazing. Watching people do this inspired me to start Explore! making longboards and skateboards. I don't even care about making money, or being famous; I just want to be able to provide people with amazing experiences like this. We're just a small local brand now here in the East Coast, but hopefully in due time, we can get everyone to ride.
Sounds like fun Van!
We are on the same page. People who want to make tons of money go get a job on wallstreet, usually if you run into someone half way intelligent who is working in skate, it's not because of the payoff. That's the good news getting into the industry. Good luck out there, spread the stoke.
Thanks, and to you! Your diamond drop is sick as hell, I wish mine never got stolen or I could make a freestyle board like that, it went really above and beyond!
This is really really cool
Guys, please come to Pasadena, Glendale, or Los Angeles, would be amazing to have a sesh with you guys. Much love for all of the amazing vids you post!
Sounds like a plan! A few of the guys are in LA / Santa Barbara at some local spots between now and the end of the week. If you hit our @originalskateboards instagram there is a picture of Sean our team manager doing a head stand on a huge white creeper van, if you see that thing cruising around the hills, that's them. You can also follow @rdvxgrip on instagram to catch some additional coverage.
Can't wait til next week, NYC!!! ;-)
thanks for the help!
this is like my Favorite video on youtube
You are like the best longboarder in the world
@TheDevilsProject666 the freeride boards are great for high speed, and they're easy to learn on since they're lowered to the ground, stiff, and stable.
Right on!!! Gotta do it someday!!!
Check out the Freeride 38 with rocker concave! It's a great cruising board that can handle higher speeds really well. It's also great for sliding if you're interested in that at all. -Lindsay
Bryan Bishop Rules!
@Chairstorm the race is to ALL longboarders, doesn't matter what type of board you have.
Check out the central mass longboard festival coming up in August I believe!
Thaks mate! Really means a lot!
Oh damn man, thanks!
@powndown it all depends on your set up. If you get a board lower to the ground it makes pushing easy. You can also get upgraded bearings to help your wheels spin faster for longer which keeps you from pushing less.
looks like a loooot of fun...the only things i need now are: a longboard, some longboard skills, a lot of endurance and a trip to New York
Hey PB,
Yep, Bish is still rockin with us for sure. He signed on with Otang for wheels recently but no change to the board setup other than that. Bish has been pursuing school pretty hard core (architecture!) so a lot of the trips he hasn't been able to make it to due because of the school issue (we certainly would have loved to have him along). As we roll toward summer hope we will all start to see a lot more Bish lighting up the screens : )
Like your Videos very much (y)
Pretty Lights at the end was a nice touch.
This makes me happy, I want to skate that event
Dude I just wanna get out of quarantine go to a city I have never been to, get a longboard and skate around at night listening to my favourite songs with my best friend 🥺
brian bishop is a total homie
@powndown definitely! Longboards aren't just meant for going down hills. You can dor flatland freestyle, carving, cruising, and use them for transportation!!
Hi Tommy! For cruising purposes check out the Pintail 40! It's nice and low to the ground for a stable ride. I ride my Pintail with S8 trucks and it provides you with a nice, surfy feel. If you want the board to be a bit more stable for cruising then you may want some red springs in the trucks for more resistance. As for wheels, check out the Abec 11 ZigZags which have a wider contact patch for a smoother ride. -Lindsay
That was amazing!!!! You guys should come to England!!
@10burnzac I would recommend our freeride boards for sliding and some tricks. The Freeride 41 should be a great board for your size.
sweet video.
love that song ....... Pretty Lights - Finally Moving
For cruising and carving, absolutely. It will have a springy flex for popping into and out of carves and is super low for cruising / pushing etc. That said for Downhill and Sliding I might look at the Freeride 41, Drop Freeride 41 or even the Arbiter 36 if you are really serious about speed.
Check out the Pintail 43 and Pintail 46- they are 9 ply maple boards so they are stiffer which will be good for you. And you can get them with S series carving trucks. Take a look at the upgrade white springs as well. -Joel
We were on the 2009 versions of the Apex 37. There is actually a new one coming out in a few weeks, so if you are into tricks, freestyle and sliding that might be a great option. Plus it has noseguards which both add pop and protect it (sounds like that might be something that's good for you in particular haha)
Hey Chuck. Sorry, but we don't have Original Wheels :-P We just make the decks and trucks. What is your height and weight so I can help you choose a good sliding set up for you? -Lindsay
The circlejerk that followed must have been EPIC!
Thanks Lindsay! What about as I start to get better and better? My town is notorious for steep hills and declines so a board that would be suited for that would be perfect, any suggestions?
@shelven1 the 2011 Broadway bomb happened two weekends ago. The 2012 Broadway Bomb will most likely be the second Saturday in October
I love this
@ImJoshHi the ceramics are made out of ceramic, so the bearing spins faster and they last longer.
good job dude
For sure its a factor.
Sounds like you going to be doing pure carving and cruising, are you in the city (lots of curbs to drop etc) or do you have more open roads? If you have the open roads and like Pintails I would really look at the Pintail 37 or Pintail 40 with S8 trucks. Those two boards are really exceptional carvers that are super low (much lower than most other Pintails) for cruising. If you are going to be in the city you might want a kick, might want to look at the Freeride 38 RC!
Hey! Since you're just starting out, I suggest checking out the Pintail series. The Pintail 43 would be a great deck for you to cruise and carve on. It's easy to learn on since it's low to the ground and stable. -Lindsay
@theMZA1995 it's usually done the second Saturday of October.
@LongboardAllDaTime it's usually the second Saturday in October
thx alot. reason being trips would be awesome but im isolated in my current location. i dtch slap here and there and i love it. thx alot though longboarding and surfing isnt all about the free boards its about having the best time of your life. i really enjoy your company and hope you know that. keep shreddin!
looks like a lot of fun i wanna go to the next one
I want to do this someday. looks intense!
