  • Speed up your workflow with groups in your digital audio workstation. Grouping tracks in Pro Tools (or any DAW) lets you edit and mix tracks in less time by making changes to multiple tracks simultaneously.
    When you’re creating music or editing audio, you don’t want anything getting in the way of your creative flow. Ideally, the delay between an idea coming into your head and you putting that idea into action needs to be as small as possible. So why make ten level adjustments if you only need to make one?!
    There are a ton of useful ways to use groups in your DAW, for example -
    - Group your drums together once you’ve got the balance right, and you’ll be able to bring the drums up and down as a whole.
    - Group dual miked instruments together so you don’t have to pan both mics separately (if they’re staying positioned together).
    - All of the vocal tracks can be grouped to have the ability to quickly mute them for an instrumental mix.
    - Grouping Tracks in Pro Tools
    With that in mind, let’s find out how to group tracks in Pro Tools the quick and simple way. This works for any version of Pro Tools on PC or Mac. Whichever DAW you’re using, though, the principle is the same.

    I have shortcuts enabled, but pressing "a" for my group with the letter a identifier doesn't toggle it. Any ideas how I can get that shortcut to work? I'm on a mac.

      Above the scroll bar on the right, is the A/Z icon yellow? Is the mixer window in focus when you're pressing the group letter? There's also Group List Keyboard Focus which you can enable with CMD+Option+3. It may be this.

    You say That groups Do not effect the plugins in that group. So Would I have to put an EQ On each track in a group To have it EQ The whole group?

      If you want to apply the same EQ on multiple tracks, you're best off using an aux/bus track and sending all the tracks to it. Or a folder track.

    great… but where is the “Group Fader” ? thanks

    • @JoeAtClaricast
      @JoeAtClaricast  Рік тому

      Hi there, there is no specific fader for a group. It links all the faders together though. If you want a fader that controls multiple tracks, using an Aux Bus or Folder would be better.

      Top right, the az icon, what colour is it? This should only affect if you have to press control or not but I'm just trying to think what it could be.

      @@Ramo_Baramia I am having the same issues I too use Pro tools first and I created 8 tracks to record my drum kit and for the life of me I cannot find the group option

    • @jmorrison44601
      @jmorrison44601 3 роки тому

      Pro Tools first does not give you the Group track option only the paid version does.. Pro Tools First is useless for drummers recording multiple tracks
