Your video’s are great! Just upgraded from A7ii to a7iii. ( wanted better auto focus, EVF, and battery life). I know some of the stuff you talk about, but am learning more every time I watch your videos.

nice tuto. great to attach eye detetcion to a custom key. What about tracking attached to a key ? I don't like it is attached to zone type.

Spyros, Any way to set in Video mode to always show what the camera is focusing on? meaning camera showing a green sqaure on what in focus at all times
So what is then the best option when i want to film myself and keep the focus with having the camera static? Like boxing... continuous AF and putting face eye detect?
So for concert photography you'd suggest AF-C mode?

Hoping for some help. I have reconfigured my A7iii to get back-button focus. This is really useful for my photography, but I'm having real trouble with focusing when I'm trying to do video - will back button focusing be the cause of this? For example, autofocus just doesn't seem to work at all when I'm scanning around. However, when I try and record a simple focus scenario, e.g., a non-moving talking head, the focus jumps around unpredictably, making the recordings useless.
This seems the same in all focus modes. I'd have to re-find the tutorial I followed to set up back button focus to get rid of it. But as it's useful for stills photography, I only want to do this if necessary. Also, would it be possible to set up my camera to have back button focus as my default, and then assign one of the programme modes to be the more standard setting?

Hi n Help I just upgraded my camera from a Sony A7 to a new Sony A7iii, I have a Sony standard lens, 150 to 600 m Sigma lens, a 24 m lens, a Sony 70 to 300 lens all these lens focus perfectly on the new camera EXCEPT the 12 month old Sony 70 - 300 it just wont focus at all, I,ve cleaned the contacts n made sure its mounted correctly but still everything is just a blur at any distance, Thoughts? or is it a bin job for the lens

Hi, thank you for the information in this video :) I am wondering if you would be able to help me with the settings for group photography using the Sony A7iii. I am finding it almost impossible for the camera to show focus boxes or even show focus in any way on all subjects in a group photo even when I decrease my aperture. For example, even trying to photograph 2 people sitting side by side with an f stop of F5.6 still does not shoot both subjects in focus, only one of the subjects will come out sharp. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
This sounds to me like a depth of field issue rather than a focus mode setting issue. If your subjects' eyes aren't exactly the same distance from your camera, then f/5.6 might be too wide of an aperture to get them both/all in focus. If both were out of focus, then it might be something else, but you said at least one is coming out sharp.
this is a good question. when eye detect is on, sometimes it jumps from eye to eye
What is the circle in the middle of the focus point?
That shows where it's metering I believe.
Thank you spyors for all these A7iii videos. Got a question currently using Canon EoS r with DSLR lenses, thinking of switching to Sony A7iii got a confusion between A7iii and A7cor should I wait for A7iv. Mostly I do Cinematic wedding videos. Thank you sir in advance.
Hello Ameet! For videos, honestly, I think you’ll do better off in the long run with the A7III. The EOS R has some compromises when it comes to videos, one of the biggest being the sensor crop when recording video. With the A7III, you get full sensor readout when recording video, which improves quality and keeps framing consistent with your lenses.

Why would I want to turn off eye AF? If there are eyes in the frame, wouldn't you want them in focus?
Dude. Your store is broken. Just bought the Guide to Shooting in manual mode and no downloads are available. Error messages with every attempt to play, download, open any of the files. Not cool.
