Hello, well first let me thank you for all the videos, secondly I have some reccomendations for you, pls start your video from Distant Freeway showing us the Skyline of the city, then gradually sliding into downtown. that would be more interesting to watch I guarantee.
Not too many people from out of town know about this but Dallas has a pedestrian underground system that connects all the buildings in downtown Dallas with air condition tunnels and a lot of people that work in downtown use them to go from place to place. There are restaurants stores and all kinds of entertainment underground. You can look it up in the Internet I think it’s called the Dallas pedestrian underground tunnels.
@@jutah My cousin moved to Dallas from D.C. He loves Dallas. I always wanted to visit Dallas, Tx. I wouldn't mind checking out Houston, either? Which one do you prefer?
Just watched your video of Downtown Dallas. Thank you for recording it & posting it. I left the Dallas area 22 years this month - December, 1994. And then I was living out in Allen, Texas on a horse ranch, & right down the road from Southfork. It has changed a ton since I moved there in January of 1977. I can't get over how there are no shopping places like Sanger-Harris, Titches, Neiman Marcus. I think I located the building I work in - LTV Tower(Webber, Hall, & Caudle. Also, worked at Price Waterhouse. But, I don't see the Mercantile Building, (Raucheer Pierce, Refsnes) anymore. Didn't a building go in with the name Avenue of the Americas? There were places to eat downtown when we girls would go out at lunchtime but, really can't tell where there are any now, hardly. The West-In as it is called now, I remember eating at the Spaghetti Warehouse. Wasn't there a school of some kind down in the area. Isn't the Addison area near that? I can't seem to remember. Not. use to seeing Woodall Rogers road. There are so many newer & taller buildings now, & just doesn't seem user-friendly now.
Always nice to hear the history from a previous resident :) Dallas is a unique city and the comments on this video are interesting to follow. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I think people fail to realize that Dallas is hot as shit during the summer time. Dallas is one of the hottest cities in America during the summer. Hardly, any one wants to be outside during that time. When it’s cooler people venture outside. No one wants to deal with temperatures over 100 degrees with high humidity. I’m from Dallas and most people stay inside.
halfvolley11 Chicago is built completely different. Secondly, people in Chicago can layer up. There’s not much you can do when the temp is 102F with a heat index of 115F. People would much rather be inside than burn to death. The pool is only going to do so much. BTW this is consistent heat...not a little heat wave that midwestern cities get. The normal high temp is 97F in August. That does not include the average 18 triple digit days we see each year. Until you’ve experienced 100F degree temps at night...you probably wouldn’t understand.
great video but to all the cynics, j utah mostly showed only central downtown. However, uptown, deep vellum, design district, the cedars and the southside had limited coverage. these are more walkable than the center. central downtown dallas wasn't built in the 20s, 30s, and 40s, like the eastern US. it was mostly constructed in the 80s around big oil and finance. these buildings didn't allow for lower level retail. soon however with the revitalization of old corporate headquarters, there will be tom thumbs, parks retail, and walkability. also dallas will soon experiment in having the first connected systems downtown; systems like electronic waste management big data traffic analysis, and big data crowd analysis to help understand peoples interactions with the city. dallas has gotten a lot better and will continue to improve
There are plenty of buildings that were built in the 90s and later that aren't any better! The central part of the city pretends that pedestrians don't exist. There is nothing on the street level to interest the eyes. Way too many blank expanses of wall and parking garages. You go inside these office buildings and the interiors are usually gorgeous. The outside environment is one big disappointment, and that's why almost no one living in Dallas says, "Let's go spend the day downtown!" You go there for the symphony or the museum, and then you drive home. You don't walk around looking for anything of interest, because you'd have to walk for blocks to find it. There would have to be massive reconfiguration to make anyone want to spend time there.
The comment about downtown not being built in the 20's or 30's is not accurate. There is historical color film footage of downtown Dallas life in 1939, taken by a Dallas Times Herald photographer. It shows central downtown Dallas to be a bustling place, with people everywhere, sidewalks packed with pedestrians, streets jammed with traffic. Back then, downtown was where everything in Dallas was; shopping, movie theaters, restaurants. Outside of downtown were residential areas, and no malls or other shopping centers. Wynnewood center, one of the oldest shopping centers, wasn't built until 1949.
As a guy who lives in a medium sized sunbelt city with nothing but crackheads and drug dealers downtown, this seems like a good downtown to me and i don’t understand why people are complaining about it....
J Utah I know it's asking alot but you should do a rush hour version of all these downtown videos to satisfy all the people asking and complaining about lack of people and traffic.
@@joemartin1253 LMAO dallas has more people than houston. the reason it seems so "dead" is because this was filmed in august midday the hottest time of the year. mind you this was most likely a week day because on a saturday the downtown dallas area is sprawling with people

I'm a native Brooklyn New Yorker and I avoid Manhattan as much as possible, even some places in Brooklyn are horrible, it's dirty and grimy and expensive, go figure. Nice video! There's another video on UA-cam that I encourage others to watch, downtown Dallas in 1939. Being a Dallas local born and raised, I was surprised to see the downtown look like NY with so many people and very bustling! You would have to know Dallas history as to answer your questions about the downtown area perceived as "empty" Like most major cities, in the earliest days of their forming, Dallas included- everything all businesses homes etc were located in the central city downtown. Also not as many people had cars at the time, as most highways were nonexistent then, and the railroad played a pivot role in early Dallas history. Overtime, post world war 2 and with the baby boom, as more and more families finally began to purchase family single homes, with yards driveways, nearby shopping centers and schools(starting the suburbanization process in the actual "city" then) further away from the central core, but still within the city limits. Also now more and more people had cars and when the highways were built to accommodate all these new drivers, and then when more and more middle class left the city over the decades for the suburbs, that led to an overall decline of Dallas and downtown as well, since most of the businesses moved to the suburbs. Downtown Dallas experienced substantial: banking, building, and real estate during the late 1970s-mid late 80s, as that's when most of our prominent and recognizable skyscrapers were built- my personal favorites:Reunion tower(The Ball, The Bank of America Plaza(green building), Fountain place, and the Renaissance Tower. The BOA plaza and Fountain Place both initially had twin towers planned. Sadly, not long after the 1980s wave of skyscraper development, all the businesses went under, went thru several mergers, closings, etc and that halted any new development prior to the year 2000, around the time they built the American Airlines center. The 1990s Downtown was nothing but a bunch of empty parking lots/buildings, gov workers during the day and a lot of rift/raft at night. I read somewhere that the 1990s skyline represented "the tombstome of Dallas", since so many were in the banking, finance, and real estate industry, who recalled the recalled the 1980s Dallas prosperity. Honestly, the development of present Uptown(immediately north of downtown) is really where all the activity picked up, and was largely ignored downtown during that same time. With the exception of City Place Tower in uptown, which also went under like those downtown, Throughout most of 1980s-1990s, uptown was NOTHING as it's compared to today with all the development it's gotten since 2000. Now, finally, downtown IS back on the rebound. 💯
To all the people saying Dallas is empty - DFW (Real Dallas) is large af and has just about 7 million people exact same with Houston. Crowded downtown dosent equal high pop
Dallas has such a spread out CBD it's crazy. It's so quiet. Nothing like New Orleans, where I live, which is like NYC in comparison in spite if being 1/7th the size of D-Town!
Enjoy your videos, hope to visit these cities some time!! One thing I've noticed, other than New York, American cities seem to be void of pedestrians! Reflects the car culture you have there. Here in Australia, we have a strong car culture too, but our downtown areas are much more lively with people
Yup. American cities are very car-centric. There's a new trend now to build more walkable cities/neighborhoods, new urbanism etc. Americans are getting so tired of driving everywhere and being stuck in traffic that they are starting to walk more. But it's a long way to go until we can ditch our cars and walk everywhere. The best cities where you can have a relatively comfortable lifestyle without a car in the US are NYC, DC, Philly, SF, Chicago, Seattle, and Portland. Everywhere else you need a car.
Dallas is fucking hot in the summer...hot like Hell. Out of all cities in the U.S. New Orleans is the most unique city in the country with some European feel to it and very lively. My favorite city still Chicago.
I Was there last july and it was hot. Most people avoid the heat and stay inside. Fort Worth Stockyards is a cool place to visit. Take the Trinity Railway from Dallas Union Station.
That was interesting but brutal! So many parking lots but nowhere interesting for people to walk and so few sidewalk patios to enjoy a drink or a meal. I can't believe how unwalkable it is and how few people there are in the downtown core. The buildings give nothing back to the city and make the area seem inhospitable. I would see no reason to get out of the car, in that city! All those ugly parking lots, man, that's a killer! Good work on the video though, I watched it all in horror! lol
I was there a few years ago and yes, it is like you say. The upside to this, though, (for a JFK buff) is that when I decided to walk down to Dealey Plaza on a sunny Sunday morning, I had the plaza all to myself ! It was EMPTY and rather eerie, as if time had frozen ... like a Twilight Zone episode ... Unforgettable !
All of you people complain, but I think this is great. I like in DC and it sucks to have so many people fit into a sardine can of a city. Dallas is my kind of place if its like this.
Wow, the ignorance of these comments is real. Most people not used to sunbelt cities expect there to tons of people downtown. Your cities up north cram a WHOLE lot of people into a small area. Cities like Seattle with only 142sq miles use their downtown as their focal point. Cities like Houston and Dallas have multiple city centers(and skylines btw) where activity is spread out all over the vast land area. Not to mention there is underground activity underneath. This video of downtown does=/=not represent all the activity in the city.
JasnoGT Dallas is growing a lot like Charlotte, NC and Jacksonville, FL. Dallas looks way nicer than Charlotte (I live in Charlotte) cause the downtown in Charlotte is small but Dallas's way bigger! I think the charlotte's mayor is triggered at Dallas, NYC and Los Angeles. The mayor is actually jealous of the big cities in the USA so that's why it's keep growing a lot!
No, you don't have to be New York City. Chicago Loop has the fine balance. San Fransisco is amazing too. San Diego is vibrant as well. But for a city this big, its disappointing.
They have a 35 block underground mall full of shops and food courts which the locals use to get out of the heat. Used to be a old Santa Fe Rail road tunnel under those buildings. This video didn't show much of anything but streets and in only one section of town. I use to live in New York City I'll take Dallas any day.
I stay in dallas and this is a Sunday morning, he passed the church house and the parking lot was full. Let this had been any other day like a Monday. Non stop people + traffic
JFK assassination buffs can fast forward to 31:15 ! ;) (Unfortunately, our driver is NOT one, otherwise he would have gone straight ahead on Elm street for our enjoyment ;)
@@randomman9231 nah, its really lame. How is that any better? Barley any world famous cities, barley any cities at all. Same temperature, and its COLD. Literally less people than CALIFORNIA and soon to have less people than Texas and that should be enough to realize that Canada isn't better.
If this was shot on a summer afternoon, I'd say it looks empty because it's too hot to go outside. Lots of people use the tunnel and bridge system that connects a lot of the downtown buildings so you can avoid going out in the heat. Also, downtown Dallas is mostly a business center so people are in their offices, not out on the sidewalk. It gets pretty dead downtown after 6 when everyone's gone home. 31:20--the infamous Dallas Book Depository on the right. If you'd continued straight instead of turning left you'd have followed the Kennedy motorcade route to its completion.
Downtown Dallas be live on the weekends especially in deep Ellum and Main Street. I'm Dallas native but I often the street lights in downtown always throw me off
I don't know where you from but southern heat is brutal especially in August so that might play a factor. Also the time of day and week probably play a big part.
Just got done watching the Atl drive through. I know that Dallas has a more populated combined* statistical metro population the Atlanta, but it just looks far smaller. The Atlanta Skyscrapers alone makes Dallas look like a secondary city..I personally think it's because Atlanta has a larger urban area.
Driving in Dallas is a walk in the park without annoying taxis. But try DC driving is a pain in the ass with the Biggest Traffic Congestion in the USA and those red taxis lol and yes yes yes even on Sunday Mornings.
Damn in the US everything is big, buildings, road space, cars, even the signals. The style is like the 2000s era and at the same time recent. They live in a complet different world. But im just wooooow amazed with those giants buildings. damn i wanna visit USA
@coolkid j I been to Dallas three times in the last five years and Houston twice. I'm not saying they are not up and coming cities that maybe considered world class but for my liking I don't. I get almost offended when some say those little cities are in the same class as Chicago they are not.
@coolkid j maybe offended is not the right word but when I hear or read statements like that I can't help chuckle and assume those people are not well traveled.

I hate how people judge when they haven't been there, they just do so call "research" which most of it is fake, see for yourself its a pretty city I live in Dallas metro I've been to down town every place on the city, it may look "classy" or "plain" which I can agree, but there's buietiful in it, so please people don't judge it if you haven't been there "but we have the right to judge" yes, but you're just saying FAKE stuff most of it, so I don't really care and.. ..ifno we don't care if we have less or more, no we dont care what we have or other places have that we dont or they don't have, *MOST* of us have really experienced this city, I've lived here my whole entire life its very pretty specially at night time in down town, such an amazing city! No, I won't judge other cities since I've only been here and in other places well all I can say is AMAZING judge all you want IDC this city is amazing no matter what! Dallas is fucking hot in the summer...hot like Hell. Out of all cities in the U.S. New Orleans is the most unique city in the country with some European feel to it and very lively. My favorite city still Chicago.
gde1989 It's fucking 115 degrees out there and it's a fucking huge city
I Love America ❤❤❤
which country u live in?
what country u live in ?
I love ❤️ America
Texas is not USA
me too
everything is bigger in TX
;)
By 11 minutes of the video, there were 3 Honda s2000!!!
I Was there last july and it was hot. Most people avoid the heat and stay inside. Fort Worth Stockyards is a cool place to visit. Take the Trinity Railway from Dallas Union Station.
Thank you. Espectacular para mi turismo virtual. He visto todo el video checkeando con google maps y los lugares interesantes con street view
I love Dallas and we both have family their just left the city in Christmas and hoping to be back doing the summer
Is it Sunday?Not too busy.
Well...At least it's nice and calm.😊
That was interesting but brutal! So many parking lots but nowhere interesting for people to walk and so few sidewalk patios to enjoy a drink or a meal. I can't believe how unwalkable it is and how few people there are in the downtown core. The buildings give nothing back to the city and make the area seem inhospitable. I would see no reason to get out of the car, in that city!
All those ugly parking lots, man, that's a killer! Good work on the video though, I watched it all in horror! lol
All sunbelt cities are like this, they're the ugliest cities in America.
There are places to get out like the West Village, the arts district, and that new urban park that was built over Woodall Rogers Freeway.
I like it, don't have to deal with traffic congestion and being overcrowded.
***** Glad to hear that things are changing and becoming more pedestrian friendly!
Very nice example! Camera looks great as well.
JasnoGT I know!! they want a city full of people like New York😀
The mayor is actually jealous of the big cities in the USA so that's why it's keep growing a lot!
all I see in downtown are boring office buildings. No way I would ever want to tag it as a world class city.
Figured it must be a Sunday. Streets are very quiet
It kinda feels like I'm in driving simulator
JFK assassination buffs can fast forward to 31:15 ! ;) (Unfortunately, our driver is NOT one, otherwise he would have gone straight ahead on Elm street for our enjoyment ;)
TRINZIN I
Where's the grassy knoll
Everybody will be Uptown Dallas because it's more vibrant and busy. Going downtown is like a very quiet so u don't see a lot of people.
17:25 that building on the right (UNT law center) is STILL under construction!!
Еххххх старий добрий 2016й рік. Куди же ти від нас втік. Найлюбимішій мій. А так жякую за покатушки і за ностальгію
the best video so far :)
I miss Dallas 😭 Toronto’s traffic so trash and roads are disgusting 🤢
Damn. I thought canada was supposed to be a better version of America
@@randomman9231 nah, its really lame. How is that any better? Barley any world famous cities, barley any cities at all. Same temperature, and its COLD. Literally less people than CALIFORNIA and soon to have less people than Texas and that should be enough to realize that Canada isn't better.
2:52 Boss Hogg's Golf cart, the horns on the front gave it away, he had the same thing on his white Caddie
Thanks Jude - The discussion of people on the streets is common on some of the Texas videos. Thanks for the input!
Downtown Dallas be live on the weekends especially in deep Ellum and Main Street. I'm Dallas native but I often the street lights in downtown always throw me off
My dream place
Weird, there is cars and a lot of business centers, but there is almost no peoples around
It doesn't at all. This person just avoided it
Big downtown, although the streets look pretty worn out,can barely see the markings.
I love Texas lol.😂😁😁😀😋😋😋😋😍😘😍😘🤗🤗🤗🙂☺
Cheers!
the USA seems like another world
how did you do the what kind of camera did you use and how did you control record and stop record?
MY CITY!!!
Very nice video. What camera are you using? So stable and clear. Please share ..
Driving in Dallas is a walk in the park without annoying taxis. But try DC driving is a pain in the ass with the Biggest Traffic Congestion in the USA and those red taxis lol and yes yes yes even on Sunday Mornings.
من الممتع جدا زيارة تكساس بالتحديد ودالاس ايضا سوف ازورها أن شاء الله .. ❤️🇺🇲🇺🇲✝️🌟❤️.. تكساس جدا جميلة..
Is the sky always that beautiful ?
Beautiful Country USA
0:20 The person making a left turn onto Griffin St. needed to yield to oncoming traffic. I guess he was in a hurry!
soo cool thnx man
Very good vid.
Damn in the US everything is big, buildings, road space, cars, even the signals. The style is like the 2000s era and at the same time recent. They live in a complet different world. But im just wooooow amazed with those giants buildings. damn i wanna visit USA
What country are you from?

I can't wait to move back to Dallas. twenty times better than Chicago!
Kathy Anne Not as good as Houston.
Ya i don't think so lol Dallas couldn't hold Chicago jock strap lol
Yea sure it is lmao Dallas and Houston are weak boring cities not to be mentioned in the same breathe as Chicago
My dream city
Where is the people?
Pronósticos Deportivos church its a Sunday morning
The Underground tunnels or out on Saturdays
Its way different than New York or other major city. Nobody likes to walk here but I do and I also ride transit.
Lmao we have better things to do than just walk around down town, like going to the mall or chores.
"are"
Nice Video.👍
10min in an its already nicer than LA X'D
It’s also dead
Glad you survived. Worst drivers EVER
chek agreed Texas legit have the worst drivers
It's all the Yankees that have come here.
A little background music was gonna be cool with this.👍👍
Great video, but please, no cuts in the video!
I appreciate the critique! :)
J Utah
Thank you!
Sorry for spelling mistakes getting use to this keyboard, have a great day!
nice skyline architect
lol for the people that are not from dallas let me explain where everybody is at theres this freeway over here in dallas called I-35, and let me tell you in the mornings you feel like your ain’t advancing much because the ammount of traffic that is created
Perfect place for a nice 🏃.
Yes! The scenery is amazing as well as the architecture. Yet people don't really walk as the SCORTCHING Texan heat is bad especially in the summer.
There are very few pedestrians. Is there not much in terms of shopping in downtown Dallas?
what car is it that you drive in all of your videos?
Is sunday morning man ..
I love it
Love USA
9:11 no sign saying you can turn left? Can't that get confusing?
perhaps you should have some cameras looking up to show how tall the buildings are
