Beautiful lens. Really considered this one back when I was grabbing a wide angle for the 60D. Looks like it's kicking out some amazing images. Love the lens flare handling, especially.
Thank you for the review! I shoot currently with Tokina 11-16 and the flairs is an issue for me. Seeing your review I'll upgrade to 11-20 soon! Thank you!
Great review. So few reports about this lens. But I wish someone would also test the most interesting aspect of this new wide angle, the 20mm long end! Seriously we all have seen what the 11-16 can do wide, how does this lens perform at 20mm? I'm interested in this for weddings and the 20mm would be very useful for groups if it performs at the same level as the wide end.
Sunstar? I am all about the sunstar/starburst ... The only sunstar I like is from 16-35L Canon, and I want a Nikon body... so... .. ... I am looking for equivalent, but the only near as sharp and well define is on primes (20mm), which isn't really wide on ASP-C. I saw the one at F11, but... ... ... Have you tried it on higher number?
Tokina 11-20 or Canon 10-22 for interior real estate work please ??? i understand that Tokina is better, but Canon has bigger range which might be quite useful for interior pics ?
Great review mate, just bought this lens for my 80D APS-C - would have enjoyed some comments about the quality of the AF and the AF/MF clutch ring as well but what you covered was excellent, cheers!
Bro, almost all lenses have their sweet spots at F8 or F11, that's when thy're in their sharpest. At F22, even if you're using a branded lenses, it's still a bit softer especially in the edges.
Thanks for such a detailed review. I'm looking to do some Milky way photography with a Nikon D7500 but am confused whether to buy a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 or a Tokina 11-20 f2.8. I've read some pretty good reviews about the 11-16 but also that it gives a hard time to focus at infinity, which I believe is essential to photograph the milky way. Kindly advise which lens should I go with?
Nice review. Up until now I was planing to buy 11-16mm Tokina. But this review is changing my mind. Do you recommend getting this instead of the 11-16mm? I'm planing to use it for general daily and some night astrophotography? Thanks!
I am thinking about upgrading my Sigma 10-20 f/3.5 to other lens. I am not sure upgrading it to Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 VC or this lens. I will eventually upgrading to FF about not sure how long it take for me to upgrade. btw how it compares to Sigma 10-20 f/3.5?
Nice review on the lens actually, now I guess I just got a new alternative for the Nikon 14-24mm super wide-angle lens, since it costs sooo much right now, I was thinking about the Samyang or Rhokinon 14mm but they got a little bit more barrel distortion than this one.
Hi man Thanx for. The video ,, I lil bit confused between this lens , 11-16mm tokina and sigma lens same focal length but f/4..... What. You say??? I am waiting
tomkpunkt just go directly on the tamron 15-30mm or if you wanna stay on the cheaper lens just buy the 11-16mm tokina cheaper and just a little problem on the flares
I have a Nikon D5300. I have the standard 35mm 1.8 and I have a 55-200 zoom. I like to shoot all types of angles but when it comes to wide I feel disappointed with the 35mm focal length, it's not giving me that dramatic feeling that wide angles create. I also want to get into landscapes and similar photography, so I know I need a wide lens. I am a 16 year old teenager but can afford both the tokina 11-16 and the Nikon 10-24 wide, but don't know if the extra $450 is worthwhile to buy the Nikon lens. Would you recommend the tokina lens or is it worth the extra investment?
Regardless when posted I read it now so you get my comment now, not complicated really. ;) You are not dumb, misguided maybe. It's a good question. It is not worth extra 450.00.
That was an amazing review LOL. I have never heard of this company but I have been looking for a good wide angle lens for my new D 7200 and this looks like it would be a perfect fit. Thanks for the information.
it's strange, i just look at another review of this lens on youtube and it says realy the opposite of what you say, a lot of flare, a lot of chromatic aberation, so i was thinking to buy this lens, but i don't know
I'm using this lens on my 5DM3, and you can use it until about 16mm, at which point you'll start seeing a round image circle. There's no physical restriction, since it's a EF mount as opposed to EF-S, but you certainly get a lot of vignetting as you go wide. At the widest end that covers the sensor, the corners get very soft, which doesn't get much better as you stop down. It hasn't stopped me from using it at narrower zooms, and the circle effect at the wide end can be a great artistic choice.
I had a few 10-24s .latest was nikon , it was terrible . Iv been waiting for tokina lenses to hit the uk Shores for years .. i gave my 7200 and dx lenses to my daughter (i waited too long ) anyone know if this lens is better than the nikon 10-24
No.1 Con is that ugly One-touch Focus Clutch Mechanism where we change from AF to MF mode ! That was designed by a complete idiot. I can describe this lens as very good value for money. If You need something 100% perfect, buy Leica or top Nikkor/Canon lens. But they come at a hefty price.......that's why I stay with Tokina :)
Beautiful lens. Really considered this one back when I was grabbing a wide angle for the 60D. Looks like it's kicking out some amazing images. Love the lens flare handling, especially.
Brendan van Son
Very glad to hear that! I've got the Canon 10-22mm and i thought about buying the Tokina 11-16mm but i was always afraid of flares...
to the complaint on the 82mm filter thread... I buy all 82mm filters and then use step down rings that way all my filters fit on all my lenses :)
Thank you for the review! I shoot currently with Tokina 11-16 and the flairs is an issue for me. Seeing your review I'll upgrade to 11-20 soon! Thank you!

Saw the Salton Sea Doc a while back. These pics bring back the memories. Trying to decide between this and the 11-16mm lens
Tokina 11-20 or Canon 10-22 for interior real estate work please ??? i understand that Tokina is better, but Canon has bigger range which might be quite useful for interior pics ?

is tokina 11 20 sharp on canon?
Bro, almost all lenses have their sweet spots at F8 or F11, that's when thy're in their sharpest. At F22, even if you're using a branded lenses, it's still a bit softer especially in the edges.
Not really. There are some cases where lenses are sharpest wide open than degrades when you stop down.
most lenses don't look very good at f22 unless you want no depth of feild
I am confused between Tokina 11-20 f/2.8 and Nikon 10-24 f3.5-4.5, Which one I go for ? cost is not any issue.
Thanks

Infinity is a pretty easy manual focus assignment.
Should I buy this or buy T124 ii?
I am using Nikon D3100
I want to buy a wide angle lens. I considered to buy Tokina 11-16 or 11-20. Can you give me some suggestions? Does is it worth to buy 11-20?

did you get one yet? im also thinking of getting either the 11-16 or this one for astrophotography
I'm a total noob, can you tell me which software program that is? Where you store your photos...
I am thinking about upgrading my Sigma 10-20 f/3.5 to other lens. I am not sure upgrading it to Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 VC or this lens. I will eventually upgrading to FF about not sure how long it take for me to upgrade.

Great video, thank you. Do you know if it will work on a full frame Nikon D750.??
Nice review on the lens actually, now I guess I just got a new alternative for the Nikon 14-24mm super wide-angle lens, since it costs sooo much right now, I was thinking about the Samyang or Rhokinon 14mm but they got a little bit more barrel distortion than this one.
what the name of that tripod plz?
and how much is it?
That lag waiting for the next image to load would drive me nuts! 1:1 previews are your friend :) amazing lens tho :p
Hi man
Thanx for. The video ,,
I lil bit confused between this lens , 11-16mm tokina and sigma lens same focal length but f/4.....
What. You say??? I am waiting
Hi, so as far as sharpness, chromatic aberration and vignetting, wouod you say it is better than the 11-16 dxii?
Could this lens be an upgrade for my older Sigma 10-20mm or is it worth to upgrade?
my question also
tomkpunkt just go directly on the tamron 15-30mm or if you wanna stay on the cheaper lens just buy the 11-16mm tokina cheaper and just a little problem on the flares
can i put normal standart nd filter? i dont mean lee filters?

it's not worth it purchasing both imo
a year later are u dumb

ok
just FYI another year later, so you probably know this: 35mm is a normal, not wide lens on your APS-C camera.
chromatic aberration is the same as 11-16 or noticeable less?
is there any significant diference between the 11-20 mm vs 11-16 mm?
yes, please answer this. I want to know as well
The ones i know are focal range (obviously) and 82mm filter vs 77mm filter. Image quality i cant say
what are the best universal filters for this lens? just polarized?
Where can I buy that small tripod? Link please?
I'm new in photography. What software its that?
and for canon is the first version more sharpeness?
Is this lens technically parfocal?
Hi , what the program you have to change the colours of the image
Thanks
Wow! What a great review! Thank you! Slr lounge!
WhaT camera are you using mate ?
Do you not have any other words than "AMAZING"...to describe thie lens...?
He seems like a decent guy....but yes, a tad bit limited when it comes to getting away from todays 'catch' phrases/words.
great gear... I'm using it since one year👌
That was an amazing review LOL. I have never heard of this company but I have been looking for a good wide angle lens for my new D 7200 and this looks like it would be a perfect fit. Thanks for the information.
did you shoot with a nikon d5300?
Thank you for your wonderful review and it helped me a lot.
how is it for milkyway shoots? thanks in advancvce
It is an issue that Tokina don't make USB dock for firmware updates and micro adjustment.
Id like to buy a new reflex camera, I am thinking about the Canon 750D and buy that Tokina 11-16mm UWA lens, is that a good combination?
it's strange, i just look at another review of this lens on youtube and it says realy the opposite of what you say, a lot of flare, a lot of chromatic aberation, so i was thinking to buy this lens, but i don't know
would it work on a d33OO?
I have Canon 6D full frame camera, will this lens work with my camera?

From 16-20 it works great on full frame...actually sharper in the middle than on the aps-C :)
Great review!
what is you small tripod?
Any help?
+Terence Deshaies-Petitclerc Manfrotto Pixi
Thanks for the review!
Awesome. I just bought this lens.
How is the lens?
Can I use this lense on Sony a6000 with adapter that has aperture ring control?
USAoksana With a Nikon to e mount adapter you can, it works well.
great review Matt ... love it
Great review. Thank you!
I had a few 10-24s .latest was nikon , it was terrible . Iv been waiting for tokina lenses to hit the uk Shores for years .. i gave my 7200 and dx lenses to my daughter (i waited too long ) anyone know if this lens is better than the nikon 10-24
joe kelly: Yes, it is....I've used the 10-24 in the past but I now use this Tokina (version 2) and its a lot better.
What photo software is he using?
adobe lightroom
Will this work on a Canon T3i?
Yes
C'mon, what it takes to post full-res images with the review?
Just, WOOOOOOW!
06:55 "Jesus I'm a sinner please come upon my body and into my *redacted*"
Wait no go on now I'm curious...
I think is a very good lens but also all the lenses are sharp at f11
I would have killed my computer if it had dragged on like yours.
you can use awesome for a while :D
Amazing :-)
I don't like it because it is very curvy. Where as Laowa 12mm has no distortion almost.
But Laowa costs two times more ;)
jesus why the obnoxious sound of the shutter firing in the background every few seconds!
I hate that lens! It gives red lines at the edges...
Dang UA-cam photographers keep putting religious propaganda in their lens reviews XD
wtf are those
haha you lost all credibility at 2.40

this lens gives you a lot of chromatic aberration!!
laowa or tokina ?
CLOVEWED tokina
Great review, thank you!
