Wow... so great to see John Prine so early in his career. I first saw him on TV probably around 1975 and immediately became a devoted life long fan. Thanks for posting this.
How lucky for that audience to see and hear someone like John Prine in such an intimate venue. Someone that would become such a legend in music. By the way ...was that Shel Silverstein sitting there next to the stage?
Got hooked on Prine in 1974. Thankful for so many years listening to his great, great music. Saw him many times in his early days. Fave song back then: Illegal Smile. RIP, John. Damn Covid.
@@jamesbckmstro3 Tom Waits got em both beat. Tom and John any day, Bruce can stay on FM radio in that rotation. (Billy Joe Shaver writes up a storm as well as Dave Alvin)
@@cravinbob I got to see To at the Ryan about 14 years ago, also Prine there quite a few times and saw Shaver at a local club in 2015 agree with you completely, oddly tho I am not familiar with Dave Alvin, will look into hi. Randy Newman too is way up there on my list of the best, also saw him at the Ryman about 1998

I love to come across something I've never seen before. Thank You!
Wow, the first is always something to treasure, especially with John Prine. You will develop a relationship with his music. Beautiful.
This where I first became a John Prine fan.
I suppose you remember when Stevie was still alive.
Just John, his guitar, and his stories. Sublime.
In a way, this would be a tribute to all four of the individuals assembled here - Mr. Prine; Mr. Carlin; Jerry G.; and Chicago's own Mr. Silverstein.

Wish I discovered him back then instead of 1980.

Jerry G Bishop. That is a name I haven't thought about or heard in decades. Wow.
Is that Shel Silverstein in audience at start?
I thought I saw uncle Shelby too.
Yes that was Shel also from Chicago.
I was 18 in 1972. Nice to see him and playing.

John Prine ❤❤
Thank You has been a favorite of mine for years ❤️
He and Bruce Springsteen are tied for best storytellers in music in my opinion. Love John Prine. ❤️❤️❤️
As far as 'storyteller' Prine is WAY ahead of Springsteen

I don't what the big deal is about John Prine.
You clearly have no taste in music or, anything else.
The songs, the sincerity.
How old are you?
